Fantastic family holiday!

Dutchman Kent, UK
Review Submitted: May 11, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
This family holiday was fantastic. The location was superb with fantastic views from the apartment. The pool was warm and great for the kids. The apartment was excellent all round with every facility; so modern and fresh and very spacious. The children's room was a real bonus. We definitely felt spoilt and relaxed.
The village location was great with every facility - shops, restaurant, playground and outdoor lido. The woods behind were great to explore with lovely walks.
Several beautiful lakes and villages are around for day trips with lovely views on the way.
We hope to return sometime!

A great holiday apartment

Review Submitted: September 11, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We are a family of 5 and thoroughly enjoyed a week in Schonwald recently. The apartment is spacious and well equipped and ideal for relaxing. It is situated in a quiet spot, but with the main street only a short distance away. It is a picture-postcard location, and is a good base for day trips around the Black Forest. There are plenty of tips and information in the apartment from the owners and previous occupants, about local amenities and places to eat, and also about trips in the region. We whole-heartedly agree with the positive comments made by other contributors here and can recommend it as a great place to stay.

If you are looking for a fantastic apartment in a beautiful area of the Black Forest, then book this one! It is lovingly and comfortably furnished to have everything you could need.
The views from the balcony are stunning and there are so many interesting places to visit that we wish we could have stayed longer. We have four children aged between 10 and 16 and every one of them had a fabulous holiday.
Thank you to Eddy and Hilde, and also to Jurgen, for taking such great care of your guests.

Wonderful family holiday

We had a fabulous week in Schönwald (18.-25.7.) at Eddy and Hilde's apartment. The flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths was very spacious, extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Our school kids (7 & 9 yrs) loved to stay upstairs in their own peace around all the nice toys, books and DVDs. The stairs weren't too steep for our 4yr old son either to climb up the "kids' kingdom". The kitchen was very well-equipped, easy to find anything you needed. The kids loved the +30 C heated indoor swimming pool to drop in whenever. The sauna was nice and tidy - and such a nice bath it was!... almost like an original Finnish sauna. Doing the laundry was handy, for 2 euros and 1,5 hrs you got a mass of clean clothes in the basement. The "Housemeister" Jurgen was amazing -so helpful with all the bags and luggage when we arrived, showing Eddy and Hilde's folders full of trip tips, and really made us feel "home". Thanks again!

The views from the balcony were breathtaking! We loved Triberg, a town famous for cuckoo clocks and water fall, just 15minutes (8km) from the apt, and Europe park was superb for the kids, just an hour away. The nature was Amazing and the local people so friendly. We are extremely happy for staying at this apartment during our stay in Schwarzwald area and would highly recommend it to other families. Eddy and Hilde - thank You so much for the fantastic family holiday!

Amazing Family Holiday!

Jack and Bea Fort Worth, TX (US)
Review Submitted: June 23, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Our family holiday was truly Amazing! The location makes an excellent base for exploring the Black Forest and there is so much to do and see it is impossible to do in one trip.

The flat was very nice, modern, clean and well-maintained. It is a great place to relax and unwind after an exciting day of exploring, sightseeing and dining. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and soaking in the beautiful view with a glass of wine or one of the many great local beers that are available.

The kitchen is well equipped if you want to stay in and cook. There are chairs and a table included for relaxing on the balcony. The kids really enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. The apartment had a lot of little extra touches that gave it a nice home feel.

There are a few shops and restaurants in walking distance. The bakery makes some excellent pastries (chocolate croissants, apple strudels and fresh bread) and there is an excellent local pizzeria on the main street that we highly recommend. There is a local market within easy walking distance. There are also some nice restaurants to enjoy in Triberg.

We highly suggest that you take advantage of the free KONUS cards that are included with your stay. They allow you free travel on the trains within the Black Forest area and you can get a copy of the train schedules from the local tourist office. All of the locals were very friendly and helpful and the flat has many helpful maps and tourist guides to help you plan your day trips. You can catch the train in Triberg which is only a few minutes from the flat.

The apartment is great for teens as the upstairs loft gives them some privacy and you some peace and quiet. You can enjoy a day at Europa Park which is only an hour away.

The only negative was the washing machine. We had problems with it and it was very expensive to do a load of laundry. Everything else was truly wonderful!

We will come back again and we have already recommended this flat to all of our family and friends.

To Eddy and Hilde - Thanks again for everything!

Jack and Bea

Excellent Schonwald Apartment

GB81 England
Review Submitted: August 27, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
The accomodation is exactly as described and pictured. It is a very, very comfortable and spacious apartment that comfortably sleeps six. Every comvenience is provided from an effective kitchen to an iron. The property is very clean and well maintained. The swimming pool in the basement is small but a great way to start and finish the day. The balconies give beautiful views of trees, mountains and valleys. The scenery is stunning, the local people are very kind and helpful. In Easter and summer it is geat place for walking and a superb base for seeing the Black Forest region.

It is so good I have now stayed there twice and will again in the future and I would happily recommend it to friends. The Gasthof Rossle is highly recommended as a place to eat. The only potential problem is that to enter the apartment you have to go up two flights of stairs but it is worth the effort.

Schonwald August 2008

Rachel and Mark Hertfordshire, UK
Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a fantastic time staying at Eddy and Hilde's flat. As well as being very comfortable and well-equipped it had fabulous views and was in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and local amenities. It was really helpful to find local info and maps for days out, and plenty of DVDs, games, toys and books to keep us occupied on rainy days when we weren't enjoying the indoor swimming pool. We received a really warm welcome and farewell from the caretaker and altogether had a great time in Schonwald. Having fallen in love with the area, we're sure we'll be back soon. Thanks Eddy and Hilde for sharing your home with us.

A Place to get away from it all

aspms Lancashire
Review Submitted: August 20, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed in the apartment during the first week of August 2008, and really enjoyed our time in Schonwald.

Our two teenage girls immediately made themselves at home in the upstairs "den", and really loved the freedom it gave them. They would watch certain movies from the extensive library with the "oldies", but also kept others for more private viewing on their own TV / DVD system up there. They also made plenty of use of the indoor pool and sauna in the building.

The apartment is very well equipped, and even the most fussy family would find it difficult to suggest further additions to the equipment supplied. Above all else, the apartment is beautifully maintained and clean.

The village of Schonwald is pure "Chocolate Box" country, and when coupled with the array of sporting facilities is a great "find" for any visitors.

If you want a real "get away from it all" type of holiday, you really should give Eddy and Hilde's place strong consideration.
