Moraira Paradise

Estefania09 London, UK
Review Submitted: July 11, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
What a fabulous villa! The main snapshot was what made us select this place, and it perfectly conveys the tranquility, elegance and sheer delight of holidaying here. My family and I had a great time and enjoyed every minute of our stay. From sitting under the palm tree by the pool all day (the perfect mix of sun and shade!) to dining on the terrace (where else!?), we felt perfectly spoilt by this amazing home away from home. As an added bonus, the Moors and Christians festival was happening in Moraira, so we didn't have to go far for evening enteratinment. We'll definitely be back!
Owner's Response: We are always pleased to hear when guests feel so at home and that they enjoy themselves as much as Stephanie and her family did. We look forward to them coming again.

Springtime in Moraira

Jenny & Stuart Warwick
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We had a fantastic holiday in April 2009 at Villa La Marina. The villa is extremely comfortable and in a great location -10 mins to shops, restaurants and the markets.

Arriving at the villa around10.00pm in the dark, raining and in the middle of a thunder storm, we were very grateful for the welcome pack and the keys being where the owners said. We settled down with our scrambled eggs and started to relax. Next day Rob the Villa Manager came to see us, to make sure we had everthing and point us in the direction of the supermarket which was only down the road
in the town. After the first day we enjoyed lots of sunny days around the pool reading and deciding where to eat in the evening, one time cooking fish on the villa BBQ. For us the holiday was all about relaxing and that was easy as there are plenty of seating areas around the garden and terraces. They are are all good but my favourite was just outside the terrace doors admiring the wonderful views to Calpe whilst sipping our Gin and Tonic's.

If you get down to the harbour before 10.00am you can watch the local fishing boats land their catch before they are auctioned in the Fish Market.

For us we cannot reccommend the villa or the location highly enough. It was the nicest place we've ever been to in Spain.
Owner's Response: So glad that the welcome pack was useful to you, and that the thunderstorm was only a blip!

Early spring break

Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing few days at Villa La Marina, and cannot recommend it highly enough.

The villa itself is beautifully welcoming and comfortable, and all the rooms are tastefully decorated and well equipped. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into all those little extras that make a holiday so much more enjoyable, such as: the helpful restaurant and entertainments review book; a library of games, books and DVDs for when the weather is less kind; and a variety of chairs and tables around the pretty garden for a choice of sun or shade. Over the years, we have had many family villa holidays in France, Spain and Portugal, and we would consider this to be easily the best accommodation we've stayed in.

Although we enjoyed several good restaurant excursions on this holiday, our high spot would definitely be the warm evening spent sitting on La Marina's terrace watching the sun go down, chilled glass of wine in hand, eating our freshly barbecued seafood. Bliss!
Owner's Response: It sounds like you enjoyed your stay at Villa La marina in exactly the same way we do ourselves when we are there. We try hard to make it our second home-from-home, and love sharing it with all our guests.
You are right about relaxing with the chilled glass of wine enjoying the view. It is then that we know that we are really on holiday.

Late Summer Break At Villa Moraira

Mike and Sophie South West England
Review Submitted: February 22, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
Mike and Sophie:-

Arriving at Alicante airport we quickly organised our good value for money car hire and set out on our way to our destination of Moraira. With simple but extremly accurate directions from the owners, we soon found ourselves there. Greated by impressive ourthentic Spainsh Wooden gates we entered our secluded haven for our weeks holiday. It was quite late at night as our flight had been delayed, so it was an added bonus to be greated with some provisions in the fridge for breakfast.
First impressions were that we felt immediatly comfortable in this very well equiped beautifully furnished villa. It has a wonderfully home from home feel with a delightful rustic Spanish charm, much to the owners thoughtful personal touches that are a theme throughout the whole villa. The following morning we awoke to the most spectacular views across the marina and out to Calpe Rock, that deffinatly exceded our expectations.
Much of our week was spent lazing around the fabulous pool, enjoying BBQ's with produce bought from the assortment of local shops. Both fish and meat were really fresh with a large selection to choose from, so something different each day.
Our favourite memory of this charming and unexpected find was evenings spent watching the sun set with a glass of the local pink bubbly!
We loved Moraira town, with its large choice of restaurant bars, cafes and shops. There was so much choice, you could have Cocktalis on the Marinas plush terraces or any food of your choice with budgets to suit all.
Walking into town was really quick, we liked taking the scenic route (only another five minuites) along the sea by El Portet. We explored the mountains and villages and along the coast, where there are many little coves to discover.
We both had a wonderfully restful stay in Villa La Marina and will deffinatly return, perhaps with family as I think our older children will love it too!
Owner's Response: Since their stay we have built a new improved barbecue area and extended the roof terrace. The views are now even better for watching the sunset.

Dining Alfresco

Chris & Jo Devon
Review Submitted: February 13, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2008
Behind the large rustic gates of the Villa La Marina which takes advantage of its elevated position, overlooking the beautiful pool and amazing view across the bay to Calpe Rock we quickly settled in and became used to dining “alfresco”

Whether lazing around on the terrace, or just taking in the sun, we were content within minutes. It was surreal at first then became the norm as we found more excuses not to leave our secluded home, only popping down to the local shops for more supplies!!

A short stroll away is the shell-shaped bay of El Portet where we wandered along the beach and spent a few lunchtimes trying the local restaurants. There are no cars between these and the sandy beach and so although sometimes busy, sitting literally next to the sea with the kids having fun in the sand just below felt very civilised. From here we walked off our excess to explore the watchtower of Cap D'Or on the clifftop, then back to the villa for yet another swim and an evening drink on the terrace.

We had great fun in the kitchen cooking together and as with the rest of the property we found it very well equipped. The pool is easily large enough to exercise and enjoy games and whilst an eye was kept out on the children from the garden or the terrace above, they were entertained for hours! The quality of the villa was much higher than average and the attention to comfort and tasteful furnishings made for a truly restful break.

A short drive into the mountains brought breath taking scenery and the culture and food of these stunning hilltop villages.

Our stay at Villa La Marina over Easter was very relaxing. We went with our friends and four children making eight in total and found we had a lovely break.

Chris – Devon.
Owner's Response: We think that Villa La Marina and Moraira has something for everyone, it sounds like you found this out too. We are so pleased that that all your family had a great time, and looking forward to having you stay again soon.

Summer stay at Villa La Marina

Barry and Amanda Cambridge
Review Submitted: January 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed at La Marina for a week in late July 2008. We chose this villa because our two teenage daughters were keen to be within easy walking distance of a beach and town. Our experience is that descriptions of villas tend to exaggerate the proximity of the location to such facilities. We were delighted to discover that La Marina is indeed within 5 – 10 minutes of the beach at El Portet and Moraira town.

We have always chosen destinations very carefully, trying to ensure value for money. La Marina is not a cheap option, but we believe it is very good value for money, taking into account the villa’s position and privacy, the specification of the property, the extremely comfortable nature of the accommodation, the quality of the outdoor areas, including the excellent pool, and the impressive views that are afforded across the bay and over the surrounding area.

Highlights for us during our week were:
• Strolling to the beach at El Portet for a morning swim (added bonus is that a shop in El Portet sells fresh bread for breakfast / lunch!)
• Lots of games and swimming in the warm pool, which lends itself to fun for those who are not the best of swimmers
• Eating, talking and playing cards on the balcony overlooking the bay and marina

We all had such a good time in 2008 that we have booked to stay at La Marina again in August 2009.
Owner's Response: It is always good to hear when someone enjoys the villa as much as we do ourselves.
We are so pleased that they are coming to stay at La Marina again this summer, they will find the views from our new roof terrace even more impressive than last time!

Half Term Heaven

greatpercy London
Review Submitted: November 26, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
What a charming villa! We stayed for a week over October half term with 4 adults and 4 children and had a great time. The villa is beautifully arranged and over the week we each found our own favourite spot. Of course the kids loved the heated pool (essential at this time of year) and the shady garden beside it. Some liked the Moroccan porch and terrace dining area (a sun trap). The top terrace was a good hideaway but my favourite was lounging on the recliners on the front terrace looking at the stunning views of Moraira and the sea beyond.
In the evenings we took turns in cooking - there are three very good supermarkets nearby (you do need a car or take a taxi back) so we could find everything we needed.
After dinner we lit a fire in the sitting room and felt cosy. The owners have furnished the rooms with a lot of taste - white fabrics, Moroccan lighting etc
The town has a choice of two beaches - one with a kids playground too. Both were clean and safe to swim in (although far too cold for me in October!) The walk up to the old castle is also fun and just about doable with a 4 year old!
You won't find that many Spanish holidaymakers in this resort - nearly everyone we met was English but all very friendly.
Owner's Response: So pleased they liked the style and character of Villa La Marina, we have made many recent improvements and are just about to extend the roof terrace that they liked so much. The views will be even better!
The villa is well located for easy walking into town where there are several supermakets. However, the larger supermarkets are located on the edge of town, and although they are also in walking distance it is helpful if you have a car or taxi to ferry your heavy bags home after a "big shop".

Staying in late October

Review Submitted: November 25, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Climbing out of the hire car and stepping through the massive door into La Marina’s gravelled courtyard was like arriving at an oasis. Finding our way round the house was even better - someone had taken a lot of trouble to leave it looking perfect, and extremely welcoming.
We loved the good-sized swimming pool and the garden was a restful delight, with shade beneath the trees for those who needed it, even in October! When it rained and gales rattled the palms, we sat happily in the loggia, reading, doing puzzles, just being ‘on holiday’.
We found lots to do – climbing to the castle above Portet beach was an adventure; even the teenagers enjoyed the coastal walk to the ‘The Witch’s Broomstick’ café. Moraira town was friendly – wonderful to find everything we needed within walking distance. Special favourites were fresh rustica bread from the 24/7 supermarket, and the local plonk, Liria – both astonishingly good value. We even shopped in the town’s fish market – a bit scary competing with local restaurateurs at the auction but the quality was superb. (Be there early!)
With ten of us staying, the kitchen was a happy noisy hub, and our long Mediterranean lunches on the balcony terrace were a daily delight. After sunset it grew cold and dark very quickly, but the log fire in the sitting room was a wonderful focal point for contented family evenings.
Would we come back after this, our first visit? Definitely!
Owner's Response: Sorry to hear that the weather was disappointing, but unfortunately it is the one thing about a holiday at our villa we cannot guarantee.

We are pleased that they obviously enjoyed Moraira and the villa to the full during their stay and it does not seem to have been spoiled by the unusual bad weather.
