Just delightful

The villa is beautifully located, sensitively converted and is ideal for rest and recuperation, with comfortable living spaces and a terrace in the shade of a large holm oak, ideal for long al fresco lunches. The pool is a good size and very welcome for cooling off and exercise. If you forget to bring a book, don't worry, there is a library to suit all tastes and moods. Montisi is unspoiled and pictureque and nearby San Giovanni d'Asso harbours an excellent restaurant, Il Castello - highly recommended. A bottle of Brunello is a must. The wine centres of Montalcino and Montepulciano are both nearby and are good to visit and the village used for filming 'The English Patient' is about 5km away. We will be recommending it to friends and hope to return ourselves one day.

Owner's Response: Seeing that others enjoy our home as much as we do is ample solace for not being able to spend more time in Montisi ourselves. As to the library, so many books, so little time........

Really loved this house!

We had the pleasure of staying 2 weeks at La Cella in the Summer of 2009 and we really loved it! The house is beautifully restored and decorated and feels more like a home than a rental villa. Our daughters of 2 and 4 years old enjoyed the outside terraces, the pool, the big living room ànd the little pussycat that visited us each morning. We also liked the stunning views, the fantastic selection of books around the house and the trips we made to little towns and restaurants in the neighbourhood. A special thank you to the owners and the caretakers who welcomed us very warmly and gave us a lot of information and good tips for visits and restaurants!

Delightful Romantc Retreat - sunset views

What a fantastic experience. A beautfully renovated tower with the main large area room being under ground (due to gradient) on one side meaning it is always cool -with open gorgeus views of rolling tuscany countryside. The furniture is tasteful and stylish giving a feel of luxury. The reading material is good quality and wide ranging. The pool is the perfect temperature in summer (we went in July) and we we spent many happy days relaxing on the sun beds and cooling off in the pool. The support and friendly service from Adi and his mum nearby was excellent. Altough we had some nights which were very hot and the bedrooms would benefit from air con at the time we went - this was bearable with the the fan on in the top room and the 1st floor bedroom had insect nets on the windows meaning our daughter could open the window at night. A hire-car is a must and we enjoyed both eating in and at dining at local village restaurants. Florence was an hour and a half away and Sienna about an hour away. Be aware if you travel on Saturday virtually all shops are closed on sunday so be prepared to eat out on the sunday until you can get to a supermarket. Overall excellent experience.

A house full of character and a view to die for.

We loved it! We are a family with 2 kids (age 9 and 7) and had a fantastic week in La Cella. When we arrived the first look out over the unspoilt view (and I mean unspoilt - just hills, distant hilltop houses and dirt-tracks) took our breath away. The house is much more like a home than a holiday rental and the pool was a good size and a perfect depth for our kids and we had many evenings playing pool volley ball with the sun setting over the hills. Montisi, the local village which is a nice 10 min walk down dirt-track, had enough facilities (shop, baker bar, restaurant etc) to save us getting in the car when we didn't fancy it. La Cella is also well located for various tourist hot spots. Kids complained of too many trips to 'beautiful villages' but soon won over with gelati and pizza - Tuscany is no Orlando - which suited us. Wonderful!

Wonderful House; Beautiful Views

We just returned from a wonderful week at this property. The house has been beautifully renovated - keeping the historic integrity, but adding modern conveniences. The views are fantastic and the house is quiet and tranquil. There is a lot of outdoor space and the downstairs areas stay particularly cool in the summertime. There is no better place to enjoy Tuscany and relax.

Simply Wonderful

Our family (2 adults, 2 children ages 7 & 4) spent a fantastic week here in April of 2009. The home is very nicely appointed and was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and provides all the required utensils and cookware necessary to cook for a family. The large hillside living room provides plenty of room for everyone to spread out in. The description and photos online really do not do the home or the location justice...the home, the views and the local village were even more enchanting than we imagined! Both the owner and the caretaker were very helpful and provided plenty of information to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The house really is situated in an ideal location, at the end of a gravel road about 1 mile out of Montisi with fantasic views across an empty valley below it. The kids were able to freely explore the surrounding olive groves and woods without having to constantly worry about passing traffic. It was such a peaceful location that the only sounds we heard on most mornings/evenings were the local wildlife - no traffic sounds or road noise whatsoever, just the music of buzzing bees and singing birds. We spent the week on day trips exploring Tuscan cities and villages, and would recommend a car when staying in the area. Some of our favorites were Montepulciano, Pienza, Montelcino and Siena among others. But the best was always returning "home" at the end of the day and relaxing on the patio, sampling the fruits of a local vintner's labor and enjoying the quiet solitude and fantastic views! I would definitely recommend this property to my family and friends. My only caution would be that the steps up and down the tower are quite steep, so the home might not be best for those with very young children (i.e., toddlers) or the infirm.

A perfect place, more enchanting than the photos let supposed. The view is incredible. We hope we will come back one day.

The house is really beautifully restored, Every detail has been thought by the owners. Used to rent properties in Italy and in others countries, I put this one in the top ten.

This villa is in a really ideal place at the bottom of a lane with views directly over the hills. The house is stylishly furnished (not the normal holiday rental tat) and generously equipped. Villa plus points:
comfortable and attractive
clean and everything works
large range of interesting books
a good range of DVDs and games

Owner's Response: Our home is not perfect. But it is as near to perfect as we can get it and we're glad other people can share the enjoyment we get from La Cella.
