Idyllic Getaway

DublMC London
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I spent a few days in the barn with my family in mid July 2009 and had the most peaceful, relaxing time. The barn has been beautifully restored and decorated and I was completely bowled over by how amazing the surrounding countryside is - with many walks right on the barn's doorstep.
There's everything you need to be able to cook for yourself, but also lovely pubs within walking distance. We were treated to freshly-laid eggs from the resident hens a couple of times and they were absolutely delicious.
The barn is right on a bridalway and next to the owners' (lovely historic) farmhouse, so if it's absolute privacy you're after, this isn't the place. But the owners couldn't have been more charming, discreet and accommodating - and it's lovely watching the occasional horse pass by - so certainly don't let that put you off.
I hope I get a chance to go again.

Our stay at the Barn, Logmore Farm

We stayed at the Barn over the easter weekend and had a brilliant time. There were six adults in our party and four more joined us for the sunday and there was plenty of room for all. The accomodation was great. The main living space is large but somehow cosy with comfy sofas and chairs, a good size, solid dining table and a snooker table! The whole place was clean and well maintained. The upstairs bedrooms naturally have sloping roofs so tall people - take care!
The owners were very friendly and helpful which helped make our stay more enjoyable.
The location is lovely - at the end of the lane, but only a couple of miles from Dorking. There are some lovely walks in the area next to the barn. We had a lovely lunch at the Wootton Hatch a short drive on the road towards Guildford.
We were there for a family celebration and it more than met our hopes and expectations. I have already told several friends about the barn and would certainly recommend it.

Secluded Hideaway

We recently had a peaceful and idyllic stay at the barn for a week at Easter. There was adequate space for my three teenage children, my husband and myself. The combined living/kitchen area makes use of the space downstairs and the three bathrooms meant there were no queues waiting for the bathroom. The barn was lovely and clean and well maintained. The owners were helpful and are on hand if there are any problems with the property. The children enjoyed the billiard table and the many books and games in the barn. The location of the barn was deal for visiting Chessington, Thorpe Park, Hampton Court and London was only about an hour away by train. We ate a lovely meal at The Wotton Hatch Pub and The Stephen Langton can be recommended. The barn is a property that I would definately return to.

A Hidden Treasure

Review Submitted: March 30, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We recently spent four wonderfully restful weeks in this beautifully converted barn whilst my husband underwent hospital treatment. The owners went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we could possibly want, even to collecting our newspaper along with their own every day. Fresh eggs appeared on our doorstep each day, courtesy of the hens in the adjacent paddock. (Food miles - more like food feet) The setting really is idyllic, and it is impossible to overstate how quiet and peaceful the location really is, bearing in mind you are so close to London. The property was spotlessly clean and very well maintained,.Several friends and family visited us during our stay and all fell in love with the charm and comfort the Barn afforded. We experienced snow and beautful spring sunshine during our stay. The wood burning stove and lamps turned the sitting room into a wonderfully cosy haven during the cold spell, and, when the sun came out we opened the windows and all we could hear was the bird song and clip clop of horses going past our window. This property really is away from the madding crowd a real treasure. We cannot thank the owners enough for providing a such a wonderful place to rest and recuperate in.

Logmore Barn, Westcott near Dorking

I booked this barn to accommodate a gathering of family and close friends to celebrate my birthday. The barn and setting are stunning: you step straight out onto a bridleway leading up to Coldharbour and Holmbury with views across to Dorking and the downs. The 3 bedrooms (all ensuite) are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend this as a venue for a group of 6 adults to spend a relaxing walking/cycling weekend with the luxury of a log fire to return to in the evening, which the owner Richard will happily light for you as well as providing fresh eggs from his hens. The only downside for us was that we spent the entire weekend on pins because the owner's wife had welcomed us by telling us not to damage her antique billiard table or the Georgian dining table. With such a large group joining us, we found that we couldn't relax along with our guests because we were constantly checking to see that nothing had been rested or (God forbid) spilled on the billiard table. As a result, we wouldn't recommend this as a place to bring young children or a large group. The owners stipulate that no more than 20 people can be in the barn in the evening and any dinner parties have to be finished by midnight so that they are not disturbed by guests leaving. If you're planning on walking or cycling, the owners ask that you wear slippers to minimise the amount of mud you bring into the barn. In summary, this is a beautiful venue in a glorious location, which should be enjoyed in the company of no more than 6 well behaved adults. A car or bike are recommended as the barn is 3 miles from Dorking station.

Fantastic escape

The barn at Logmore Farm is so much more than that. It met and exceeded our expectations.
It's been converted to a lovely cottage with modern amenties as well as quaint charm. There was more than enough room for my husband and I, 2 adult children, and 2 grandchildren to spend a memorable week in Britain.
The surrounding countryside is every bit as beautiful as described with natural woodlands and wildlife. Dorking is a perfect English village with easy access to London trains or the M25 for extended trips.
We could not have imagined a more perfect base for exporing the south of England.
