Chalet Moonrise - a holiday to remember,,,

Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We couldn’t have asked for more at Chalet Moonrise. It was not only extremely comfortable and very well equipped, but the owners have thought of everything we might want or need to make our summer holiday a truly memorable one. The interiors were lovely and very spacious (no squeezing onto sofa-beds or pokey rooms), and every bedroom had a fab south facing view with big French windows leading onto a terrace or balcony. It was a nice change not to have the kids squabble over the “best” room. So many little touches made it very special and made us feel as though we were staying in some friends' very stylish home rather than a bland rental property. The weather was glorious, so we bar-b-q’ on the terrace by the large garden and ate by candlelight, surrounded by a million stars and the tinkle sound of cow bells in the distance. I have to say that it was a pleasure to deal with the owners, who were extremely efficient and ensured we were armed with plenty of info ahead of our trip, including a long list of nearby trips and activities. We hadn't realised there was quite so much to do in the area. Our first trip to Switzerland. It won’t be our last, what a fantastic hidden gem this country is. Thank you, thank you for a wonderful time – we had such a magical holiday that we've already booked for the ski season and are also hoping to return for a trip in the Autumn to see the colourful trees change.

We chose Chalet Moonrise for it's panoramic views and well appointed interiors and we were not disappointed. There is something very special about having a morning cup of tea on your terrace gazing at majestic mountains ... and yes if you listen carefully you can hear the distant cowbells. This was our first family visit to Switzerland and we had a really wonderful time - there is so much to see and do in the area and we successfully combined our desire for hiking with the boys desires for fun and adventure (and of course chocolate!). The big surprise for us was how hot and sunny it was - not a cloud in the sky for 5 days and temperatures of almost 30 degrees and of course when the clouds came and we were engulfed the boys thought that was great fun. A thoroughly recommended family holiday and a great place to stay - I'm sure we'll be back.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We're delighted you all had such a great time and packed so much in. The warm weather in the Alps is a well-kept secret !

We have all enjoyed a wonderful week’s break – the first visit to Switzerland for most of us. The chalet has lived up to all its promises – extremely comfortable and the views are simply stunning. The decor and personal touches give a real homely feel. The chalet was spotlessly clean and there was plenty of room to spread out, Every morning I made a point of walking down the hill to get bread from the pattisserie (they also do fantastic cakes and chocolates too!). After a day's sightseeing we all appreciated slumping in front of the TV which offers satellite TV and a DVD machine.
Our visits included Glacier 3000 – a must - and we visited on a day with clear blue skies and 30 degree temperatures! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were really lucky with the weather. Hope to come back again.

New Year in Luxury Swiss Chalet

We came out 2 days after Christmas and had the most fantastic time in a this beautifully situated and appointed chalet. It was ideal for our 2 families.
The views were almost unbelievable in the morning when we were above the clouds.
It is such a change to have all the comforts of home. The log fire was a real treat. Everything was thought of and very clearly and concisely explained. We had excellent snow and there were many different skiing areas to explore.
Would hope to come again, maybe in the summer as there seems so much to do in this area.
Thanks for a great holiday.
Lyn Paul & Family.

We enjoyed a wonderful week's holiday (in August) at Chalet Moonrise - a very happy and genuinely memorable experience. The chalet is fabulous, the views stunning and the range of opportunities for various activities and visits far too many to fit into one week - so hopefully we'll be back one day. You will also find the owners extremely helpful. A 5 star rating without question; we have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Chalet Moonrise to others.

This chalet is a wonderful place to stay. We had a very relaxing week in August with our 3 teenage children. The chalet is of 5 star standard and very comfortable with the most spectacular views out to the mountains. We really didn't want to leave as it is so beautiful. There is also a lot to do in summer time- white water rafting, fabulous walks, glacier walking, paragliding - to name but a few.
I would recommend it highly and we are a very dicserning family when it comes to holidays and places to stay!

True Swiss Chalet Experience

Review Submitted: August 11, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This was by far the best summer vacation we had in years. Being neighbours to mountain tops and clouds seemed really different. The children loved chasing the clouds in the patio, something they have never experienced before. The chalet was very clean and luxurious. In real life, it was identical to the internet if not better. I cannot forget the breathtaking view from the chalet and the tranquility in the surroundings. What I found helpful is that the chalet is wquipped with every single thing and instruction manuals were handy. You can find everything from washing machine, iron board, full kitchen utensils and not to miss the fondue and raclette tools(traditional swiss cheese for the full swiss experience). There is a nice bakery down in Barboleuse next to the kids playground and minigolf where my children enjoyed very much. Worth mentioning, my kids were going there on foot. Villars center is 3 minutes drive from the chalet and you can also take the BVB train easily. There is also the Tavayerenne Natural Reserve, just behind the chalet if you are aiming to a healthy natural holiday, where you can enjoy walking in fresh air with cow bells in the surrounding. There is also the restaurant Les Mazots less than 15 minutes away from moonrise, which I would recommend for a traditional meal or even for a cup of hot chocolate. There is a complete file in the chalet that you can consider as a guide for what to do in the region which was very helpful that you do not need to consult the tourisme office for futher information. I already miss the chalet and the true swiss alpine experience.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments and for being such delightful guests. We're glad you had a wonderful time and hope to welcome you again.

We spent the most amazing weekend at Chalet Moonrise. It was the most perfect location to celebrate a special birthday. The weather was perfect (40 degrees C) so we spent the afternoon at Les Bains des Lavey (Spa & Pools). And the next afternoon took the cable car up to the Glacier 3000 where we trekked across the glacier and then took a husky ride across the snow – how magical is that in July ! Back at the chalet, we could want for nothing, we bar-b-qued on the patio and ate by candlelight surrounded by a million+ stars with the gentle sound of cow bells in the distance. Thank you for a wonderful time – we will return ! S. Teitler & family
