An excellent choice

Review Submitted: November 5, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
What a find! Beautiful, tranquil and surrounded by lots of things to see and do.
The property was very comfortable and well equipped and you could not have wished for better hosts who had an absolute knack achieveing the balance between ignoring you completely and swamping you with their presence - it was perfect.
We would hsve no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Owner's Response: Roger and Denise tell us they had a `wonderful stay` and look to return; they would be more than welcome as they were very comfortable to be with.
Their comments about `balance` is very much appreciated, as that is exactly what we hope to achieve, so we really do thank them for that.

Exactly what we wanted

The advert on the net probably understates what a lovely place this is... great and kindly hosts - lovely property (vastly superior to any pretentions of shabby chic)... it is clean, well finished and well appointed.
Pryce & Pat were always attentive and helpful; certainly we will commend this to family and friends.
Local area has plently to see & do, great local food etc etc.
A gem - it stays on out 'best' list...
Owner's Response: Steve and Geraldine thoroughly enjoyed their stay in `Volets Bleus` and really enjoyed the pool and the garden.
They sampled the local restaurants, and certainly appreciated the fine food served at `The Prince Noire` in Monflanquin main square. We are pleased to note we are on their `best` list....

Wonderful & relaxing

twokays Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.
Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We would definitely recommend 'Volets Bleus' to friends as we had such a lovely holiday. Pat & Pryce are superb hosts, always on hand with help & information, plus tasty home grown vegetables. The accommodation was immaculate and comfortable with all necessary electrical appliances. It was a bonus being able to walk to the beautiful village for supplies and a meal or drink. The pool is fantastic, with lots of sunbeds and a lovely elevated view of the surrounding countryside. This really is a 'must' for holiday lovers.
Owner's Response: The `twokays` had a really lovely time. It was a real pleasure for my wife and I to see them so contented with `Volets Bleus`, the pool , and indeed with the whole holiday. For them, as for all of our visitors, being able to walk to the village was a big bonus.

Loved it!

We stayed in Volets Bleus for a week in June 2009 and it was perfect. The gite is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need including the fab swimming pool especially when it got too hot to sit in the sun. We had some lovely walks into the village which is great, the views from the top are stunning. We were lucky to be there when France had their "Music Day" which was on the Sunday. All kinds of music was on show from bands to choirs and everyone had a thoroughly great time. My husband even found a pub selling draught Guinness, a rare find indeed,

As usual the week went in far too quickly and we had to leave this beautiful area. We did do some sightseeing but it was too hot to walk around so I was perfectly happy at the gite with a good book (or even watching Wimbledon - an added bonus for me)

Thanks to Pat and Pryce for a very special week, I would recommend their gite or the cottage to anyone. A gem.
Owner's Response: Vivienne and Ernie were a really interesting couple who really did enjoy their stay. They were sometimes busy sightseeing, sometimes just enjoying the village, and sometimes lazing by the pool - a perfect mix. The Wimbledon final on the Englsh tv in `Volets Bleus` was a bonus! I think we may well see them again...

Volets Bleu

Mike & Maureen Bishops Stortford, England
Review Submitted: July 12, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We stayed at Volets Bleu for one week as part of a 2 week driving holiday in France. The accommodation was excellent and Pat and Pryce were excellent and friendly hosts - it was just what we wanted. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Volets Bleu was comfortable and pleasant enough just to stay put but we also enjoyed our 15 min walks into Monflanquin for meals out and pleasant drives to other villages and towns.
Owner's Response: Mike and Maureen had a very relaxed holiday, and really enjoyed all that was on offer. Nice to see them enjoying the garden and the pool, but also enjoying our lovely village, and indeed some of the other hilltop villages close by. We welcome their return.

An excellent experience

Review Submitted: March 17, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2007
My wife and I stayed in Volets Bleus from March to July 2006. We got to experience the change of seasons from late winter through spring and summer. The description in this ad is very accurate. The owners, who live on the site, are wonderful hosts in addition to providing an excellent living experience. Monflanquin is a marvelous bastide village and an easy walk from the house. The Thursday market provides an opportunity to sample all types of local produce, excellent cheeses, meats and a variety of other products. Volets Bleus was comfortable and very well equipped for cooking full meals if you desire. There are a number of great small villages, castles and other sights to visit nearby- many within 20 km of the house. The garden surrounding the patio is incredible and the owner devotes considerable time to keeping it that way. The fresh vegetables were very good and we took advantage of them. There are several excellent restaurants in the village. It is very pleasant and convenient to prepare some meals in the kitchen which makes dining out even more special. If you have a car, there are tremendous opportunities within two hours drive which can take you to the Atlantic (St. Emillion, Arcachon) or the Pyrenees and many other great sites. The roads are fine for cycling as the drivers are very polite although there are some challenging hills depending on your direction. We enjoyed walking to the village for dinner. The French people in Monflanquin were very friendly and helpful. We didn't speak French but they made every effort to assist us. The owners were quite helpful when translations were needed. We are returning this year(June 2008) for another vacation, unfortunately a shorter one. We can recommend Volets Bleus or The Cottage to anyone.
Owner's Response: Bob and Amy were a delight, and during their 5 month stay we struck up a real friendship. She cried when they left. We keep in close touch, and exchange regular e-mails about common interests.
As many of our visitors do , they are returning this Summer, and we are all looking forward to that happy event.
They mis-understood the review guidelines and, thinking they should not use our names, refer to us as `the owners`. We are most certainly on first names terms!
However, this does not present a problem, so we are not looking to have things changed.
As can be seen, they took full advantage of many of the interesting posibilities available in this lovely region, even visiting the atlantic coast. Keen cyclists, they bought two cycles and made good use of them. At the end of their visit, they gave them to us! We are sure they will again make good use of them in June.
Our thanks to them for this review.

This really is a great place to stay, with excellent accommodation in such a lovely setting.
Many thanks to Pat and Pryce for being such very kind hosts, and for letting us share your lovely home.
Excellent accommodation. Will be back next year - hopefully for longer.
We were impressed by the beautiful flowers and the vegetable garden. The spacious and comfortable accommodation .
A great holiday & very comfortable accommodation.
Do enjoy every minute of your holiday and don`t be surprised if you find yourself planning your next trip.
There is something special about the size and atmosphere of Monflanquin.
Some highlights: Sunsets down the Chemin de Feugnes. Lazy afternoons by the pool. Countryside views from the gorgeous garden. Pat and Pryce`s hospitality. Monflanquin`s charm and liveliness. Tout e`tait magnifique!
Back again after seven years to this wonderful place, Monflanquin.
I think you could say we LOVE the place. I`ll be back!
