Holiday at 'Le Pretre'

Iris and Geoff. Warminster
Review Submitted: October 29, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We recently had 2 weeks at 'Le Petre' and thoroughly njoyed our stay there. The charming cottage was very well equipt and most comfortable, particularly welcome was the large woodburner for the couple of cold nights we had !. We had a very warm welcome from Julia and Lawrence and lots of information about the area. There are so many Beautiful and interesting places to visit that 2 weeks was not long enough and we certainly intend to return again.

Le Pretre

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 14 month old daughter and found it to be an excellent gite. We loved the decor - stunning character, beautiful old stonework and creeping roses on the outside, but inside was spotlessly clean and bright, furnished in a modern way with every mod con you can think of. The bathroom is very spacious, complete with washing machine, kitchen has everything you could want and more, and is very well laid out, and we enjoyed having English TV and watching films in the evenings. We found the bedrooms very spacious and comfortable, and the black-out blind in the children's room meant our daughter slept really well! The garden is very spacious - we enjoyed badminton and boules as our daughter made the most of the fantastic array of outdoor toys provided. We needed to drive to reach the shops for baguettes etc in the mornings, but the nearby towns are - firstly, nearby, and secondly - absolutely beautiful - so full of character and so much to do. We simply ran out of time!

Family fun at Treverec

Review Submitted: July 30, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed in Le Pretre & found it the perfect size for 2 adults & 2 kids aged 12 & 10. It had obviously been extremely well thought out in terms of layout & furniture. It was also extremely clean. Lawrence & Julia were most welcoming & should you need any help, a mine of info on places to go.

We had a warm & sunny week & the beaches were just right for all ages whether interested in sunbathing or body boarding.

The local towns had great restaurants, shops and markets. The supermarkets are everywhere should you want to go self-catering - the Gite has a very good kitchen.

We really enjoyed our time at Le Pretre & we were impressed with the cleanliness & standard of our Gite & the welcoming touches from the friendly owners Julia & Lawrence. The Gite was very thoughtfully done & lots of extra home comforts like the dishwasher, coffee machine & candles were much appreciated. Le Pretre is in a great location for exploring, although Treverec itself is very quiet with not many amenities, but they are never too far away in the car. We had BBQ’s most nights out in the courtyard with the beautiful food we bought from exploring that day. The cote d’amour & the pink granite coast are beautiful area’s and very easily accessible with many lovely beaches within about 30 mins drive or less. The cafes were excellent with their fresh crepes with caramel sauce to die for & fresh coffee. Every day of the week there were markets in nearby towns selling fantastic fresh seafood, local produce and amazing cheeses. We also felt it would be rude not to sample the regional wines too.

Le Pretre, Treverec

Review Submitted: June 10, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
My husband, myself and 3 young children had a lovely week at Le Pretre in June 2008. We found the cottage to be clean and well equipped, the furnishings and decor were comfortable and tasteful and it was in beautiful surroundings with a large garden for the children to play in. We appreciated the box of indoor toys for the kids and outside, there was a good selection of outdoor play equipment.

We spent the entire week visiting places along the Pink Granite coast which we found to be breathtakingly beautiful. Our favourite place was Ploumanac'h where we had 2 great days on the beach and enjoyed an excellent and very reasonably priced seafood lunch at the Coste Mor restaurant. We also walked along the coastal path from Ploumanac'h to Perros Guirec which takes you past the most incredible and bizarre rock formations.

Our best day out was to the Isle de Brehat. We did the ferry tour around the island before hopping off the ferry to explore the place. There are no cars on the island and it was a good safe place for the kids to roam.

We would certainly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting the Pink Granite Coast area. The owners were helpful and friendly and the setting, delightful.

Fabulous place, perfect getaway

Review Submitted: April 11, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
Our first visit to Le Pretre was in April 2007. Prior to arriving our enquiry was handled in a friendly, yet professional way. The directions for finding the cottages which Julia and Lawrence sent were easy to follow. On arrival we were greeted by Lawrence who showed us around the cottage and explained how everything worked. We were very pleasantly surprised by how tastefully the cottage was decorated. Julia and Lawrence had made sure that everything matched, everything was of good quality and in good working order. They had thought of everything their guests could possibly need, dish washer, washing machine, proper oven and hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and a full array of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils. In addition there was a TV with Sky which picked up British TV channels and a stereo. The cottage was immaculately clean. All linen provided.

It was the perfect place for a romantic getaway – and fantastic to celebrate both our birthdays! It was lovely to come back after a day’s sightseeing, have drinks on the pretty terrace before the sun went down and then retire inside to light the wood burning stove and snuggle up cosily. Having said that, there was every facility for a family with children (including cot etc etc), but it was not “in your face” in a way that would spoil a romantic break. Guests also have use of the large garden at the front of the house. A car is very necessary. There are not many amenities in Treverec, although a bar and restaurant are currently being built. However the cottage is well situated for exploring that part of Brittany, with Binic, St Quay Portrieux, Paimpol, Isle de Brehat all within easy reach. A little further away – maybe half an hour’s drive or so is the Rose Granite Coast, where Tregastel and Ploumena'ch are well worth a visit. Good walks along the coast. Loved Isle de Brehat.

We enjoyed our short break so much that we returned for Easter in March 2008.
Lawrence and Julia are most hospitable and friendly hosts. We arrived as guests and felt that we left as friends. We would thoroughly recommend either of the cottages and hopefully we will visit again.
