Finally A Real Escape!

Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed in Chalet Uno at The Great Escape and has a simply fantastic and relaxing holiday. The accomodation is charming, well presented and very clean. The outdoor cooking area is the perfect setting to eat breakfast in the morning, overlooking Tarifa Bay and coast of Morocco, and also fabulous for a BBQ after a hard day on the beach.

Brian and Jenny are wonderful hosts, bending over backwards to help us find places, book restaurants and get us everything we needed to make our stay perfect.

I would highly recomend this rental to anyone looking to truly get away from it all.
Owner's Response: It's important to us that our guests get the most out of their break at Great Escapes.
There's nothing more satisfying than to hear from guests and to feel we have helped to make their holiday that bit extra special. Holidays are precious to us all and it's fantastic when we know guests have had a truly memorable time at Great Escapes.

After arriving on The Great Escape we felt like being in Garden Eden (palm-lined paths and flowers blooms). The backyard is arranged with many lovely details like sundials, planted wheelbarrows, little cacti beds. We had a relaxing stay in chalet tres. The accommodation was very clean and is equipped with everything you needed – especially the BBQ-grill where we roast some scrambled eggs in the morning and grilled shrimps in the evening. While sitting on our small little terrace, we enjoied the fantastic view over the bay of tarifa. The region around Great Escape invited us to drive around to discover beautiful towns, to eat tasty tapas & delicious seafood as well as drink refreshing Tinto de Verano. By reading books and enjoying the wonderful silence on Great Escape the pool area was the perfect spot to do so.
The hosts Jenny and Brian are really helpful and gave us useful hints for travelling, eating and sightseeing.

The Great Escape is a ideal place to recharge your batteries!

Jenny and Brian, thank you very much for your wonderfull kindness. Gunnar & Mel

Fantastic place to relax

Review Submitted: August 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed in chalet dos for 5 nights and it was the just most relaxing experience I would recommend taking a car to get out and about. Our car broke down and we stayed in at the chalet most days the host were very very helpful and we were so relaxed.. sunbathing, reading and swimming it didn't matter. The Views are fantastic and the chalet itself is very comfortable with a large bed good shower and kitchen facilities. I would definatly recommend it for couples who just want to relax and forget the stress of life.
Thank you both for such a lovely time and all of your help
Owner's Response: One of the things we do provide our guests is peace of mind that if they have a problem locally, then we are at hand to help and make the incident less hassle.
We book meals and pass on restaurant recommendations from previous guests, as well as provide maps and small details that can make a stay that little bit more special.

Tarifa, great escapes wooden chalet

Review Submitted: July 27, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Total tranquility over looking the stunning bays of Tarifa - 7 kms out of town. Wonderful garden, very helpful hosts and one of the most relaxing places you could chose to stay in. Chalets can get hot during midday but the owners are looking at changing the roofs to tiles in the near future.

If you like excercise.....don't get a car....hire a bike....so much more fun!

For windsurfing - there are 2 club mistral centres within 2 kms with top equipment and placed in different areas to suit the different wind conditions. A great holiday!!!
Owner's Response: Guests wanting to avoid the hottest part of the year should look at booking either May/June or September/October for temperatures in the twenties as opposed to the thirties and even forties in August. The chalets all have fans which can be moved around as required and extra fans are available on request.
Chalets uno and dos have ample covered terraces under which to stay cool and enjoy the fantastic vistas whilst enjoying a meal and a glass of Spanish red.
The temperatures can get pretty high at midday in July and August, as we are at the southernmost tip of Europe. However, with the beaches at just 1km away it's easy to get down to the water's edge and either have a cooling dip or enjoy some kite or wind surfing.

Beautiful, friendly, relaxed and fantastic place near surf mecca Tarifa, Morroco and a whole lot of different beaches!
Owner's Response: Our main aim is to provide a place to relax and get away from the normal routine. Whether you are a beach person or just want to chill by the pool, the site is perfect for Tarifa town and the rest of the coast up to Cádiz and Jerez de al Frontera. Even Seville is only 1 hr 30 minutes away.

Obviously for kite or wind surefers it's the place to be and Great Escapes offers plenty of secure parking and stroage for equipment.

A Great Escape @ Great Escapes

Levante United Kingdom
Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Our stay at Great Escapes near Tarifa was excellent. The vista of Africa is the most delightful sight to wake up to. My boyfriend and I stayed in Chalet Uno for 7 nights and I have to say our time there was relaxing, interesting and lots of fun. We hired a car which is a must to get the most out of exploring the local area. Whilst neither of us are kite/windsurfers there is still plenty to do to keep you occupied and the beaches are fantastic. The property is nestled in the hills of La Pena and you really do forget the world exists. The chalets are fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is clear, the owner’s attention to detail and knowledge of the surrounding area encourages you to wind down and really explore real Spain. The local fish is excellent (we cooked some on the bbq) and there are also some funky eateries/bars around. We had a magical time and our only regret is we had to come home.
Owner's Response: It's good for future guests to know how much more there is to Tarifa aside from kite and winsurfing and and it's great to know that couples continue to enjoy Great Escapes which was our vision when we started.

A place to rest and forget about work and routine.
Clean and comfortable chalet with wonderful views. Owners helpful. Would recommend the site to anyone just wanting to sleep, read and enjoy the local facilities. Walking distance to great beach makes it more fun as no need to get into the car all the time.
Lovely grounds and plenty of countryside to walk in. Aslo horseriding nearby made it a perfect holiday for me.
Owner's Response: We like to promote the many things guests can do in the area, including horseriding, walking, cycling and yoga.
For anyone who enjoys the combination of nature and the local colour of a typical Spanish town La Peña is ideal. Birdwatchers are well catered for.
