Our Stay at Stable Cottage

Sachabella St Fagans, Cardiff
Review Submitted: August 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We arrived at Stable Cottage and were delighted with it immediately, it was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, The kitchen area was fully equiped with every thing you could possibly need. The Lounge area was spacious and comfortable and the bedrooms and bathrooms ideal, by the way the beds were so comfortable, something you do not always find in holiday cottages. There was plenty of space around the cottage and some lovely views.

The information supplied by the owners could not have been more helpful, how to reach the cottage, where to eat, where to shop etc., by the way the village shop sells just about everthing and there is a mobile chippy once a week parked just near the village pub!!

St Mabyn is an ideal spot to tour either North or South Cornwall which we did, ddown to St Austell and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a wonderful place, and up to Boscastle where we idled away a wonderful sunny day then on to Port Issac which is quite easy to reach from the village.

My husband does have problems climbing stairs to the one floor lay out of Stable Cottage was ideal for him

I would be happy to recommend Stable Cottage to anyone and if we are in the St Mabyn area in the future would certainly make sure that we booked it once again.

Owner's Response: Jeannie and I are so pleased you enjoyed the cottage. We have done our best to make it "home" and have equipped it with the things and comfort we would want and expect. A thank you also for your kind comments regarding the clenliness, it is something we feel very strongly about.

Wonderful Holiday

Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Hi, we are back from wonderful holidays in Cornwall and from a very nice

cottage name "Stable Cottage"- a surprise: a comfortable kitchen,

comfortable bedrooms (ensuite) and a spacious living room for enjoying

dinner and playing cards. When the weather was`nt fine, we could have a

heating by the fireside. The only problem we had, was opening the house

with the key. It doesn`t run well.

We visited gardens, castles and walked along parts of the cost path.

Thanks for staying in your wonderful cottage.

Very kind regards

The four of us (including a 1 and 6 year old) had a great time here. If you like modern open plan living with traditional touches this is the place for you.

Wet and windy in Cornwall...

Review Submitted: November 11, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
And so to Cornwall for two weeks of wiind and rain in August 2008. The first week was spent at this cottage in St. Mabyn. Found the place easily enough, and was pleasantly surpised how roomy the property felt, given that it is only two bedrooms. The Mills have done an excellent job of creating a light and airy property, and instil some character within it. Everything was clean and in working order - except the BBQ. However, given the weather, we had no need for that !! I would agree with some of the entries in the guest book - if we had been able to spend more time outside, we would have found the landscaping around the propety a bit "harsh". As it was, we were able to make a lot of use of the audio visual equipment : we watched a lot of the Olympics ! Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay, and found the cottage to be an excellent place from which to explore this part of Cornwall. One word of warning - avoid eating at the local pub at all costs. We eat out a lot and we had one of the worst meals we have ever had there.

Beautiful Cottage in quiet location

Old Crock Farnborough, UK
Review Submitted: September 27, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Wonderful, surprisingly spacious cottage which is lovely and cosy. It's really well equipped with loads of crockery and cooking equipment and a dishwasher so you don't have to worry about washing up after each meal! Great woodburner for those chilly nights or central heating if you just want a quick burst of warmth without hassle.

Lovely and quiet location and within a very easy stroll to the village which has a great shop with everything you can think of, even DVD's to hire.

Well placed to visit all of the sites in Cornwall, not far from Eden Project, Gardens of Heligan (well worth a visit), Boscastle, Tintagel and of course Bodmin Moor. Some great walks along the cliff path, all within easy reach, and good places to shop including Wadebridge and Padstow. Newquay has changed beyond all recognition so unless you are under 25, probably worth avoiding, although the Zoo and Aquarium are fun.

Would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for somewhere quiet but within easy reach of everything.

Lovely hideaway, but close to civilisation

Review Submitted: August 31, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Immaculately presented property in a lovely location. Part of a complex surrounded by other buildings, but still enjoys a high degree of privacy. Close enough to main tourist attractions, but with an "away from it all" feeling.
Only let-down was the local pub - the St Mabyn Inn - where we had to wait a long time for atrocious food.
Highly recommended.

An almost perfect place to stay

Review Submitted: July 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Although, due to a last minute change of plan, I was by myself I really enjoyed staying here. Well located, easy to find but still off the beaten track, handy for Bodmin, Wadebridge and the North Cornish coastline. The cottage is well decorated and furnished and well equipped with everything you need (except for a milk jug and something to sharpen knives!).The beds are comfortable and it had been left spotlessly clean. No need to take supplies with you or go shoppping at a supermarket, almost everything one needed was at the very friendly village shop where there was fresh bread daily, free range chicken, the fish van comes regularly and there is a great butcher within a few miles. I bought potatoes that had been grown half a mile away. I found plenty to do, apart from entertaining friends and family nearby including cycling on the Camel trail, walking at Daymer Bay and travelling on the Bodmin and Wenford steam railway. Even the weather was reasonable. A great week.
