A Wonderful experience!

Harry & Sandra Charlottetown, Prince Edward island, Canada
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
When my husband and I arranged our three week visit to Italy we planned it around our week in Tuscany since we expected that might be the highlight of our trip and we weren't disappointed. Although the entire trip was wonderful, our week in La Veduta was very special. Based on the site info and the reviews we had high expectations but the reality was even better. The cottage is ideal for a couple looking for a relaxed, comfortable, clean property with all the amenities you need for a week's vacation and some extra touches that were much appreciated.

La Veduta is a great location for numerous day trips and a wonderful place to come back to at the end of a busy day.

Sandra and Paul were wonderful hosts providing a good balance between privacy to their guests and great help, advice and suggestions when requested. Sandra's cooking lesson was a great learning and tasting experience as well as lots of fun.

We highly recommend La Veduta and hope to go back again ourselves sometime in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you both for this warm and generous review and I am so pleased that we were able to provide the Tuscan experience you had hoped for. I'm glad you enjoyed the cooking class - your biscotti (among all the other things we made) were fantastic!! Best wishes and we do hope to see you again one day soon.

If you are looking for the perfect holiday, it really does exist. We had two weeks of rest, relaxation and a few days of adventure. The setting on the hillside has to be seen to be believed, the pool is the perfect touch.
La Veduta is beautifully equipped, even a dish washer! The large lounge with Kitchen area is crisp and cool in the heat of the day, the bedroom, with fan provided invites a good nights sleep. The garden is a pleasure to walk around, well tended and cared for, topped off by a black lab named Vas.
Sandra and Paul have developed an excellent approach, they have invaluable knowledge of the area but are keen for their guests to leave them feeling as though they have had a holiday and recharged the batteries for the next twelve months.
This is our second stay and we will most definitely return - not sure if that's a threat or a promise! Many thanks Sandra and Paul for a fabulous holiday.

'Perfect'

Review Submitted: August 21, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had the most perfect week in La Veduta! After a warm welcome we set about chilling!. The cottage was everything we could have hoped for - from the ice trays for our G & T's to the disposable roasting dishes to save us washing up. But for us the best was the tranquil setting and the owner's recommendations, they were spot on. We loved Siena and Orvieto but we ran out of time before we got to see everything on our list - we'll have to go back. All in all a fabulous week!

Owner's Response: Dear 'tiggy201'

I think I have worked out who you are, and many many thanks for this lovely review - it came as a very pleasant surprise after so many weeks. So glad you had everything you needed and you enjoyed your stay with us.
As for Orvieto, this must be one of the only times when you can suggest that people 'Go to Hell'. The fantastic frescoes in the Orvieto Cathedral giving the artist's idea of hell is absolutely awesome. They must have scared the churchgoers rigid. They did me when I saw them.
Perhaps when you come again you could tie in your visit with the Palio in Siena - beginning of July and mid August.
So many thanks and we look forward to seeing you again.

Our home for 2 wonderful weeks

Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We arrived at La Torre after 3 noisy poor-sleeping nights in Rome, and immediately began to settle into the quiet, and peace. We were warmly welcomed by Sandra, Paul and Vaz and their assistance, guidance and availability, whatever the reason or time, were always appreciated.
We didn't venture really far afield, with Florence by train and a day in Sienna being the farthest we chose to go. We really wanted to get a full sense of the Arezzo region, and took our suggestions and directions from the guest books, Sandra and Paul, and James(our GPS). We were never disappointed. Having spent 1 week in Il Bacio and 1 in La Veduta, it was great to experience both, so completely different and both very charming in their own way. Unfortunately the weather didn't meet our expectations, so we never got to enjoy lounging by the pool, but did have the opportunity to sit on our patio at La Veduta a few times, and could count on an almost nightly visit from Vaz, one night even forgetting to send him home, and had Sandra at our door with a flashlight rounding up her boy.
We fell in love with the part of Tuscany that we explored, and look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
Thanks for everything, Sandra and Paul, from the smallest detail to the big picture.

Owner's Response: Thank you both so much for this generous review - glad to see you got home safely. Coming to get Vaz back at bedtime, that was a first! He really does know where he is welcomed but always knows not to overstep that mark of familiarity. The best bit, we didn't train him, he just worked it out for himself. It's not often we have guests go from one cottage to another in the same holiday and I am sorry we didn't have your first choice for two straight weeks. However, it is helpful to others' experiences and comparisons because we love them both, but like you said they are completely different. I'm sorry that Europe decided on a cooler snap while you were here, a first for us in six years. We look forward to when we meet again but until then, thank you and best wishes. Sandra & Paul

The Perfect Week with the Perfect Hosts

Viv & Scott London, United Kingdom
Review Submitted: October 12, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We had a perferct week in Tuscany staying at La Veduta. Paul and Sandra were pefect hosts and the location of Le Torre is ideal...perched on a hill at 500m you're treated to remarkable views of the surrounding area whilst you sup the local chianti on your private terrace. The adventures start straight away with the gardens and their little antique treasures from a roman cistern to 12th century castle stones. Once you venture further out the local area is magnificent with Poppi, Stia, Anghiari, Cortona and Gargonza all within easy driving distance and all offering a little slice of Tuscan heaven. Please visit Gargonza - you won't be disappointed and take a picnic!
Florence is magnificent and speaks for itself in volumes of guidebooks - "David" at the Academia Gallery is a must and worth the visit alone.
For the more adventurous Cinque Terre is a 3-4 hour drive north and worth a day if not two - the views and area are stunning and even in October the temperature was 32c.
All in all we were so pleased with the hospitality we received and the beauty of the cottage. It's facilities were second to none - so much so that it took us a matter of hours to refer to it as "home".
Sandra's recommendations of places to eat were welcomed and taken up and we were never disappointed with the food and the wine. The Tuscan's are friendly and courteous and always willing to help.
A great week we are keen to replicate next year and already looking forward to it.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for this comprehensive review - it sums up so much of what we try to give our guests here at La Torre. There is so much to see locally and not so locally but if you just want to relax and chill that's here as well. We really look forward to seeing you next year with your parents. Best wishes and again many thanks for being such gorgeous guests.

La Veduta at La Torre - A perfect holiday retreat

Robin&Jill Middlewich, UK
Review Submitted: September 22, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We have stayed twice at La Veduta (2007 & 2008) and have already booked for 2009. La Veduta is a very well equipped and comfortable property with a good kitchen, good sized bedroom and a large living room, a bathroom with a shower.

Equipent includes fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher and a good cooker. The grounds are extensive and include a swimming pool. A wifi network is also available.

It is 500 metres high and overlooks Arezzo from a distance of about 5Km, it is reached by a narrow single track road of about 1.5Km, a car is essential and preferably something with a bit more power than the most basic hire cars.

Sandra and Paul the owners are excellent hosts, there when and if needed but not at all intrusive. On arrival Sandra will prepare you a meal and this option is well worth taking up and will be as good as any restaurant meal.

It is a very quiet and peaceful place to return to after a days sightseeing. There is a very good supermarket about 5Km away with excellent fruit and veg, meat and fresh fish plus everything else expected from a supermarket and the prices are generally less than the UK.

Florence, Sienna, San Gimgnano are each within an hours drive as is the whole Chianta area, our favourite restaurant is at the monastery in Badia. Assisi is about 1.5 hours away and well worth the effort of making the trip. Poppi has a wonderful castle and there are many others in the area.

Florence can also be reached by train in less than an hour, and is a must for anyone interested in art or architecture. The fast train to Rome takes 1.25 hours so a day trip to Rome is also feasible.

Arezzo is a lovely little town, parking is quite easy and there are many reasonable restaurants. Sandra will recommend restuarants in many local towns and all that we tried were excellent. Tuscany in general is a stunning area with hilltop towns round every corner and every little town has many points of interest.

We would recommend La Veduta/La Torre to anyone looking for an intersting and peaceful holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you both so much for this and for being such lovely 'neighbours'. You have visited and discovered many of the wonderful sites and places of interest nearby during your last two visits but by next year we will have got a few more for you! Top of the list are the two in Arezzo, you didn't get a chance to see - the lovely medieval carvings on the arch of the 12th century 'parish' church in Arezzo and the lovely litte Santa Maria della Grazie where you can see some more work by your favourite artist. We will also take on the responsibility of 'restaurant research' ready for your next vist, well someone's got to do it!!!
Until next year, many thanks and look after yourselves.

We have just spent a wonderful week at La Veduta and it has all the ingredients of a lovely relaxing break in the most beautiful surroundings. Sandra and Paul have made their two guest cottages so welcoming and homely with exceptional attention to detail which makes visitors immediately feel ‘at home’. La Veduta was well equipped and prepared for our stay including the lovely red geraniums on the terrace and windowsills. The bowl of fruit was especially generous and a chilled bottle of Prosecco in the fridge to enjoy on our arrival was most welcome, enjoyed on the sunny and private terrace. At no extra cost - there is a wonderful black Labrador called Vaz who was kind enough to take us for a walk in the adjoining woods. We would not hesitate to recommend La Torre to the young and not so young couples alike. Sandra and Paul are charming hosts who are there if needed with recommendations and advice but not intrusive

Our 40th birthday treat

Jenny and Sandy Huddersfield, West Yorks, UK
Review Submitted: September 6, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had the most lovely and relaxing holiday at La Torre in La Veduta. The very first moment we arrived and those wonderful gates opened we were made to feel very welcome. Sandra, Paul and the most handsome dog, Vaz, greeted us very warmly and we instantly felt at home. The views from La Torre were fabulous, the accommodation superb, the garden and pool were just so tranquil. We couldn't ask for anything more. Those special touches and attention to detail were very much appreciated. On arrival we had lots of yummy treats - including the nicely chilled prosecco wine, Italian pastries (which I had to buy more of to bring back home, very successfully I may add, only to be demolished by my work colleagues!!) and ooh the delicious homemade fig jam.
This was our first trip to Italy and Tuscany has always been somewhere we have always wanted to visit. We prefer staying somewhere peaceful and tranquil, away from the madding crowds but not too remote either so we can do some sightseeing. The location was ideal for us. It was only a short drive into Arezzo, which wasn't what you would consider very touristy but it had plenty of interest and we loved it there. Siena and Florence were in easy reach and there were some very beautiful towns and villages close by to visit including Cortona and Lucignano.
Sandra and Paul were fabulous, the perfect hosts, and gave us very good tips for where and when to go places -only if we wanted them. A great day was had at the spa nearby where we treated ourselves to massages and facials. We were recommended excellent places to eat too and had some gorgeous food and wine.
It was really really difficult to peel ourselves away on our last day and it was the first holiday for a long time that we left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. We enjoyed our stay very much and it was mainly down to the love, care and attention Sandra and Paul have put into La Torre to make our time there both memorable and special. We miss them, Vaz and La Torre very much and we will definitely be returning...hopefully soon.

Owner's Response: Thank you both so so much for this. You both looked so different when you left, so much more relaxed, a wonderful colour and ready for what would await you on your return to the UK. Really glad you liked the Spa, I think it is just perfect, not too far way and with the fantastic, professional treatment centre. You got to see lots when you were here but there is still loads more for your return trip. Best wishes

Genuine Tuscan Charm and Tranquility

Andy & Alison Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK
Review Submitted: August 31, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
La Veduta is everything that it promises to be, and more. The quality of the furnishings are excellent, and the attention to detail is second to none, making the place feel more like home than a holiday rental.

The property is superbly located for both sightseeing in Tuscany with lots of small towns and villages to "discover" within comfortable driving distance, and also for exploring further afield, with great transport links from Arezzo.

The pool with its stunning views of Arezzo and the countrside provide the perfect location to relax and unwind whilst enjoying both the Tuscan sun and wine.

Sandra and Paul are both informative and helpful hosts - they will offer advice on the best places to visit, book restaurants, provide maps etc if you wish, but they are never intrusive and will leave you to enjoy your holiday.

Anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in quality accommodation with beatiful scenery will certainly not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Many, many thanks for this, I am so glad we were able to provide the setting you both needed to relax and unwind after a very busy year. It would be lovely to see you both again - Andy via two wheels? and you two wings?
Best wishes Sandra

An ideal location for a holiday

Morag Eleanor Camberley, Surrey, UK
Review Submitted: August 19, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
La Veduta was a perfect holiday cottage for two. It was very comfortable, well-equipped (everything had been thought of for our convenience) and clean. It even had a bookcase full of English books for keen readers. The location was exactly as described- in a lovely, tranquil spot with wonderful views over the town of Arezzo and overlooking a beautiful garden. The pool ws great - well-maintained and with fabulous views over the valley and Arezzo. The owners were friendly and charming without being intrusive. They gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants - two which were memorable were in the little hilltop towns of Civitella and Lucignano. My husband also really enjoyed his long walks on the mountain and in the surrounding woods and was thrilled to catch glimpses of a local family of wild boars. I would unhesitatingly recommend La Verduta to friends and we would be very keen to return ourselves.

Owner's Response: Many many thanks for this and your husband's fantastic report (in the guest book) on the countless walks in the area. This will be a valuable resource. So glad we were able to help you have the peaceful holiday you both hoped for. As for restaurant recommendations, thank you also for the one in Citerna, it was fantastic. Best wishes and we would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back to La Torre. xxx
