good apartment in NYC

My wife and I just stayed at 10J, 210 east 47th. Apartment was very generous for 2 people, would fit 4 adults OK, but I would not try to fit more than that. Apartment was 'tired', but clean, and seemed to be recently painted. Kitchen was small but serviceable. Fine for making breakfasts or simple dinners, but who wants to be eating in when you're in NYC? Pretty much exactly as advertised.
Good location, easy to get to from JFK, good public transport. 20 min walk from Times Sq, Central Park. 10 min from Grand Central station, Rockefeller centre. Area was pretty quiet so don't stay here if you want a super nightlife right on your doorstep, but if you want to come home from a super night and be able to get some sleep.
Overall a very good base for exploring NYC, a good size with some of the comforts at home, without the expense of a hotel. I would stay here again.

Recommended for: Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Excellent location if you do not mind walking. Walking distance to Grand Central Station, Time Square, and Broadway. Walking distance to grocery store. We were disappointed with the fact that we were supplied only 1 extra set of towels, but were given no wash towels. We feel we should have been supplied more sets of towels being that we were there for 6 days. We were not supplied with any dish towels, paper towels, extra toilet paper, or extra garbage bags. Because there is no representative on the premises, we had to communicate through email only. Although, our emails were responded to quickly, we were not supplied what we requested until the following day. We therefore went out and bought our own paper towels, hand towels and toilet paper. There is not enought space in kitchen to prepare meals. A nice little table/island by the window would do wonders for the kitchen. There is also no shelves for your toilettes in the bathroom. Again, a little shelve would be useful in the bathroom. Overall, our experience was a good one.

At first I was a little disapointed with the condition of the apt. The pictures on line look very good but in real life the place needs a little work. I thought I was renting a time share or someone's vacation home but this is just a regular apartment for rent. Nothing fancy with basic run of the mill furniture, lines etc. with a very small kitchen that I would not cook in. While it is clean, it is used, The view is to the rear and looks right into another hi-rise approx. 50 feet away. Below is a closed yard with construction debries. Yes there is a doorman but thats about it.

Owner's Response: This unit has recently been painted and the bathroom has also received some modest upgrades as well. The kitchen is, by Manhattan standards, full size. All the appliances are full size. No reason why complete, family size meals, could not be prepared in it. Two exposures are southern and eastern. Apartment received full sun light.
