Thank you, we all had a fantastic time in Essaouira- everyone was very friendly, we were really quite sad to leave. We really fell in love with the place, and intend to return Oct '08. Aeida is a wonderful person, she helped make our stay very special indeed. Your house is lovely, we particulary loved the terrace, and truly enjoyed our stay there. Once again, thank you very much. K Willaims August 07.

The riad was lovely - loads of room to spread out and find some peace and who would of thought that behind the front door there would be such a haven of tranquillity right in the middle of the medina? Ayeda lived up to her reputation and cooked what were probably the best meals we had whilst in Morocco. Nourredine was very helpful in setting up the excursions and providing some local insights. We had a really good holiday and we shall certainly come back to Essaouira. Thanks once again for the use of your riad - we had a very memorable and
enjoyable holiday and we would like to retur

Riad- Darsal

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We've just returned from a wonderful week staying at Darsal. What a beautiful riad - perfectly located in a quiet residential area. Aieda cooked us breakfast every morning & Fouad was an excellant guide. The Riad comfortably sleeps 6 & the views from the sun terrace are amazing. Unfortunately we never got round to trying Aieda's tangines in the evening, far too many good restaurants nearby. Sally (the owner) arranged the transfers for us, which was really helpful. All in all we had a relaxing week.

Essaouira - 23.06.09 -7.07.09

After returning from Essaouira, we were in January 5 days in the DARSAL - HOUSE -
I already was dreaming to come back very soon to this lovely
PLACE in the medina. So I was lucky that it was still free during
the Gnaoua-Festival. I booked a flight from Stuttgart together
with 2 friends of mine. Already one minute after arriving in the Riad
Darsal, I felt like at home again. FOUAD, the housemanager said, so Gabriele now it is yours!
This time I slept in the room on the roof terrace. We had lovely warm ,
windy weather, and I enjoyed every minute! After celebrating the
festival and the fantastic music, it was wonderful to relaxe in the
house. My friends liked the Darsal also very much, sunbathing on the
roof, hearing african music in the leaving room (the accoustic is fantastic too), drinking tea......Aieda, the maid prepared everything very well again.
Also we like very much, that the house is built in a traditional, typical moroccan way- with patio and the floors until the roof-terrace!

Thank you again Aieda, Fouad, Noureddine and the Cartwrights
for this excellent hospitality!
Until the next time -

Gabriele, Uwe, Monika and Günter from Germany

Riad in the medina near the beach

Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Beautiful house at the Essaouira Medina, well decorated and good value. Great breakfast. One inconvenient is that the house is distributed in 4 floors. I would also inform for future travellers that Essaouira is an amazing village but it is quite windy, it is great for surfers. The mezzanine is only for small children as it is not high enough.

We had a fantastic holiday at Darsal and only wish we had been able to stay longer the riad is so well appointed and beautifuly furnished with true morrocan style and the perfect place for an introduction to the area. Everything, bar the camel riding which is only a short drive up the coast ,( ask about this and it will be arranged for you to go riding along the beach and through the sand dunes, a really wonderful experience!) was within walking distance and we felt so relaxed and at home there! There are so many restaurants in the vicinity it was easy to eat somewhere different each night and the catering provided by Ayieda was very good too. Her breakfasts are a treat especaillly when eaten on the teracce with its view across the roof tops!

We hope to go back again one day! I would highly recommend Darsal to everyone!

Staying every year two times in morocco, always in the beautiful
town Essaouira, we rented the first time a complet riad.
What can I say, it was amazing in the Darsal House. The best
we ever had. Nice and lovely decorated with taste. The roof-terrace is overlooking the roofs of Essaouira and the wild Safi-Beach.The support of the very friendly and helpfull Fouad is great and
even Nourredine the builder of the house was looking for us. Aieda
the maid was preparing a good breakfast and in the evening
very tasty and fresh tajines .Good food, from the markets, she was cooking in the kitchen of the house, just for us. And all for
a very good price. She is very kind and lives beside the Riad. While
it was quite cold, Aieda makes fire in the cheminey..I love her.
Very best morrocan hospitality.. I will recommend the DARSAL
to all my friends. We are a couple from Germany and we felt
so well in Sallys house. As time was to short, we booked
already two more weeks in June and Juli.Celebrating the Gnaoua-Festival.
Thanks you so much Sally! Best wishes Gabriele and Uwe

Beautiful riad

Review Submitted: January 2, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We loved the riad, which had been beautifully restored and was full of lovely features/details and had lots of character. It was in a really central, convenient position and all the local neighbours were very friendly. The maid can provide breakfast and evening meals - these are really good value and delicious . We went in December, and the weather was lovely - blue skies everyday, although a little cool at night, but no problem as there was heating. We preferred Essouria to Marrakech, as it is more relaxed and laid-back. Much less hassle for shopping etc. I have already recommended it to friends, and would definitely consider staying there again.

A real taste of Morroco

Review Submitted: May 5, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
After 3 days in the high octaine environment of Marrakech, Essaouira and Riad Drasal was a welcome relief. We transfered from Marrakech on the Supertours coach a 3 hour trip for only 65 dirhams (excellent value). The accomodation was excellent, very comfortable an oasis in the heart of the Medina.
We enjoyed long walks along the beach, stopping for a coffee or a beer and watching the kite surfers going through their paces.
Faoud was always on hand and Ajeda popped in every day for any washing shopping etc.
Try the fish grill from the kiosks near the harbour, Taros (Place Moulay Hassan) for great meals and an even better cocktail bar on the top floor. And for cakes to die for try Chez Driss (Rue El Hajali).
Essaouira is a taste of real Morroco soak up the atmosphere of the Medina then go back to Riad Darsal to relax on the sun loungers with a long glass of wine.
Wonderful.

A taste of the real Morocco !!!

Review Submitted: May 3, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
Thank you for a brilliant holiday! The riad was a beautiful place to stay with wonderful Moroccan features and style but with all the mod cons you need. We loved being up on the sun deck. Being inside the medina was a real advantage as we felt right in the heart of the culture. Having Nourredine at hand was also particularly useful as he showed us around and filled us in on the best places to go. Essaouira has something for every one with its beach, port and wonderful old town. It has a friendly cafe culture and a large variety of great places and ways to eat out. We will definately be returning one day!

Wonderful Riad is Wonderful Essaouira

Review Submitted: May 2, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
Riad Darsal puts you in the real Essaouira in a fantastic location. It is real fun walking around the narow streets where local craftsmen work in the tiny shops.

The riad is very well equipped and comfortable. Aida looks after you and is an excellent cook. Fouad is a great guy and went out of his way to help us. Taking us to the Argon Oil cooperative, getting us wine from the only shop in town and arranged for a local lady to prepare us a pastille which is highly recommended.

The port is fantastic and we did not want to leave. We visited Marrakech and another riad after but would return to Essouira every time.
