The Perfect Get-Away

Number5 Edinburgh, Scotland
Review Submitted: April 22, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The chalet was absolutely beautiful with lots of nice little touches (such as complimentary fresh flowers, wine, and milk), and had stunning views over the hills and water.

The amenities were wonderful ~ nothing nicer than relaxing in the hot tub or revitalizing in the sauna after a day walking in the countryside. There was a BBQ, solar lighting, candles and satellite television included, so everything you could wish for was at hand. The 'attention to detail' was apparent from the moment we stepped through the door and we just couldn't believe how great everything was.

This break was very special to us because it was our first wedding anniversary and also a time for quiet contemplation as my husband, Davie, has advanced lung cancer and this will probably be the last holiday that we have together. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to make some nice memories of our time together.

This really is a little peace of heaven on earth.

\had a very relaxing week at the cabin, was welcomed by Shirley and Doug with a nice, chilled bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers. The cabin was perfect, warm and homely, couldn't fault a thing. Would recommend for a romantic getaway, the hottub and sauna are fantastic!

Disappointed

My partner and I were looking for a romantic break and this appeared to tick all the boxes. We arrived late afternoon on Sunday and the initial appearance was very good. The information stated that the host would greet us and introduce us to the facilities at 5 pm however it was not until my partner bumped into the host in the garden and introduced herself and asked when somebody would visit that it prompted the hosts to come up to the cabin. We were impressed with the facilities however was told that we would not be able to use the hot tub until after 8, when it had reached the appropriate temperature. We were also told that we could use a private beach at the bottom of the garden and across the road however this was unaccessible due to overgrown grass and nettles and a steep decline that consisted of unstable rocks.

When it came to preparing a meal, we discovered that we would have to wash the crockery and cutlery as the previous guests had not cleaned them sufficiently.

We found the bed to be very uncomfortable and therefore didn't get a comfortable night's sleep.

Unfortunately, our trip was cut short due to a family accident which resulted in us having to return home after the second night. The hosts had gone away themselves therefore we explained the situation to their extended family who informed us that someone would be in touch to discuss our premature departure. We assumed that due to circumstances that were beyond our control, and as a good will gesture, this meant that we would receive some kind of refund for the loss of a further five nights accommodation. This was not the case and we only received the damage deposit.

Despite this, the cabin itself was very nice and situated in a picturesque and peaceful location. The hosts had left wine in the fridge and flowers which was a nice gesture. When we were able to use the hot tub, it was very relaxing and the sauna was a nice luxury.

Just perfect! After meeting with Shirley briefly who kindly showed us how to operate the hot tub and sauna and let us know where to come if we needed anything, we enjoyed our own peaceful, tranquil, private and perfect getaway. The cabin was clean and everything we could possibly need and more was provided.
Pims cocktails will never be the same without a hot tub and the Loch Tay sunshine!
Surrounding area is just idyllic - great walks for all abilities.
We're already thinking about our next visit.

A sublime experience

We had seen places like this in the states and spent a long time wishing we could find something similar here at home. The time it took us to find was worth the wait. I cannot reccomend this experience highly enough. We felt privileged to be able to enjoy a place which has been put together with such care and loving attention to detail. It was a deeply relaxing break (though there is no shortage of exhilarating outdoor activities to fit in between hot tubs!).
My only reservation in making the fullest possible recommendation is that we might not be able to get booked in next year!

A Perfect Getaway.

This is the perfect destination for a couple who need a relaxing, chilling or romantic break. The location is perfect with views of the Loch form the chalet and from the hot-tub and ideally situated for visiting the area.
The property was more than adaquate, the bedroom and kitchen are a little small, but the rest of the property and facilities more than make up for this little inconvenience.
The owners go out of their way to make their guests feel more welcome, with little extras that make the experience so special.
We would and have already recommended this perfect getaway to to others.

We came here for our honeymoon and had a great time, the cabin was lovelly and very clean. The sauna was great and the hot tub was ideal ( even if it is cold or raining it is still very usable). The owners were very nice and it is only about 3 miles away from Kenmore which is a nice little village with shops, pubs and resturants. We will defenatly come back here.

My hubby and I stayed at the lodge for my birthday. It is a beautiful place. It was easy to find. The chalet itself has everything you need for a perfect chill out. The sauna and hot tub were great. Whatever the weather you can enjoy the hot tub and barbacue as they are undercover, and the views are amazing. The chalet itself is warm and cosy with the candles and lamps. The kitchen has everything you need to eat in including a microwave. I loved the layout of the bathroom, with the indoor sauna that was brilliant. We had a warm welcome from Shirley including fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and even milk for our tea which was lovely. We had total privacy but knew that if we needed anything we could contact someone at all times. Just like to say thank you to Gemma for dealing with our booking she was friendly and helpful everytime i spoke to her.
All in all 10 out of 10 our perfect holiday. We can't wait to go back :-)
