BEAUTIFUL APARTMENT

LINDA O UK
Review Submitted: June 12, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
We had an excellent holiday in a wonderful apartment in an excellent location, thank you Jude for allowing us to stay in your Speightstown home! The location is ideal for touring the beautiful north & east coast within walking distance to beaches, restaurants, shops & bars. The remainder of the beautiful smiley Island of Barbados can be reached easily by bus. Once again thank you for allowing us another amazing holiday on the beautiful Island of Barbados, I hope to return again next year.
Owner's Response: Thank you and it was a pleasure having you as my guests and I look forward to a beverage on the terrace with you next year!

Lovely property

Review Submitted: June 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We really enjoyed our stay. It is a fabulous property in an ideal location for a typical Barbados experience. Speightstown is a very local town with limited nightlife, only a couple of good restaurants but we loved it and its only 20 mins from Holetown. I'd definitely stay again.
Owner's Response: Hi Rebekah,
Glad you enjoyed your stay in the penthouse.Speightstown is really great with the street vendors selling all kinds of tropical fruits and vegetables. Did you discover the Fish Pot Restuarant just north from the apartment?. A beautiful coral stone building situated right on the waters edge. Great for lunch I think.

Just after you left the turtles started to lay on the beach here which is an amazing sight....

We love to dive and just a few metres away is Reefers and Wreckers dive shop. We were delighted by the tropical underwater world.

The Condo was very clean and well maintained and we were well looked after by the maid and manager. We liked Harrisons Cave and the beautiful sky at night. Can thoroughly recommend this penthouse.

Wish we were in Barbados!

Brilliant Barbados!

We had such a romantic time in the Penthouse. Swimming in the warm blue sea and loved the east coast with its wild crashing surf in contrast to the calm west coast. Snorkelling showed us the beautifully coloured fish.

This airy apartment was beautifully furnished with everything you could need, air conditioned bedrooms, ceiling fans, washing machine, coffee maker, blender etc.

Wonderful Week

I had a wonderful week in this 5 star luxury apartment in January. So comfortable clean and well equipped. My favourite spot was the day bed where I could gaze out at the ocean and the palm trees.
Enjoyed Casareef Beach Bar in Speightstown for lunch and their delicious capuccino coffee! Mangos Restaurant was great too. Speightstown lets you see a real Barbados town away from the tourist trail.

Coming Back Next Year

Review Submitted: April 17, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We are coming back next year! The apartment was great for us and we look longingly at the photos of the blue caribbean ocean taken from the balcony... Speightstown takes you back in time and we miss all the street stalls with the fresh mangoes pawpaw and bananas which we made smoothies with for breakfast! Thank you for a special holiday in beautiful Barbados.

Delightful apartment

Review Submitted: April 14, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We just got back from a glorious week in this very comfortable and well-appointed apartment. Gorgeous sitting/dining/balcony areas, beautifully furnished, all mod cons. Very comfortable bedrooms and choice of bathrooms! Well-equipped kitchen, large fridge/freezer, convenient parking underneath.Easy walk to Speightstown shops/bank/beach cafe/Mango's restaurant etc, along the waterside in moonlight particularly lovely. All watersports, swimming with turtles, fishing trips easily arranged 5m walk the other way - we did it all! Easy to drive to centre of island or east coast for half or whole day but with bus on main road you could easily manage without car if wanted. Our teenagers swam or played footie on beach right in front of our balcony whenever we were not ready to go or after we got back. Satellite TV in case of rainy day, internet connection for workaholics on their laptops. Very easy to snorkel to nearby reefs, no boat required - lovely fish to see. Plenty of lovely restaurants, particularly nearer Holetown too, both romantic (Tides was lovely) and suitable for teenagers (Ragamuffins, Zaccios). Mullins with beach, chairs, swimming platform, sports, water toys etc and ideal lunch restaurant we only found on last day, would have used more often. Lexy's piano bar fun for live music after dinner.I would highly recommend this apartment for a self catering holiday on the west coast, we had a great time.

A Very Unhappy Stay....

Review Submitted: April 7, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Firstly this is not a unobstructed view property, erased from the picture is large power telegraph station which is in your eyeline to the left of the balcony. The facilities did not have air con throughout the property, yes, there are units in the lounge but these have been disconnected. The property owner informed us this is due to the large electricity bills she had received from past cilents. I can understand why they were used as the lounge gets very hot . The main problems we had where from the animals directly next door. It seems to be a small holding of varied animals including 5 dog kennels. They are caged and go mad at any time they see anything( usually monkeys) the barking can start from approx 2 to 3am and go on all day at times it drove us mad we had to go out to get away from it, if you want a nice relaxed lay in get up in your own time forget it it wont happen. The most alarming problem we had was when we experienced a power cut. It is a underground electric gated entry/exit therefore we found ourselves trapped in and other family members locked out, as the gates obvisously do not work with no electricity. No contingency plan is given to you on arrival or advise on where we could find temporary lighting etc on the 1st floor where we were... the telephones are cordless (hence didnt work) when we eventually managed to contact the property owner on our mobile to tell her of the situation and asked what what we were to do she suggested in the pitch black to get to the exit and climb over the fence near the gate {the fence being 6ft high and no ladder!)but did tell us where to find a battery lamp in the apartment if there was a fire god help us! The next day when the power was on we asked the property owner for the key to over ride the gates in case the power cut out again. She said she didnt have any but would try to locate them and had them on the day of our departure 4 days later and after a 2nd power cut 2 days after the first where we were in the same position. I spoke to the property owner about our problems and unfortunately she wasnt bothered. I would not recommended this property to anyone this is one of the worst stays I have had in Barbados and I have been many times. There are obviously real saftey concerns regarding this property. It certainly wouldnt stop me from going again to this beautiful island but i would certainly not stay here.
Owner's Response: You are obviously confused about a few things. There is a land line in the property which operates in a power cut, the car park is not underground and when you added a fifth guest to your party I sent you an email regarding a standing fan for your use in the main room which has never utilised airconditioning and is not advertised as such. This email pointed out these facts. A room with three double doors, ceiling and standing fans plus ceiling vents cannot be classified as hot. If you go to the tropics high temperatures are to be expected although Barbados is cooled by the Trade Winds.

The issue with the gates during the island wide power cut was I agree unacceptable and West Coast Villas had not organised a battery to power the gates in such a situation. New keys have been cut and they have remedied the matter for which I apologise on their behalf. Other guests were asked to give you an entrance through their apartment. I offered to pay for a taxi for you to go out to dine but the power was reinstated .I think this proves that I did care. You did have a sophisticated emergency light at your disposal during the few hours of this power failure.

I will not discuss here the negative issues and problems which resulted from your stay in my apartment . However I am saddened to think that you did not enjoy your holiday.

Great Holiday

Denise L Surrey, UK
Review Submitted: March 25, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We had a wonderful 2 weeks at this lovely bright, spacious apartment - went with my husband and parents and we all had a fabulous time. The apartment is ideal for 2 couples, there's lots of space and it's very comfortable. The location is perfect, right on the edge of the town, and you can see and hear the beautiful blue sea all the time. We did lots of swimming and sightseeing, our favourite beaches were Port St Charles and Gibbs beach, and we loved the scenery on the east coast too. We had good meals at the Fish Pot and Mangos, although it was expensive and the dollar was not in our favour. Also enjoyed the Wednesday night entertainment at the Fisherman's Pub - limbo, steal drums and dancing. We would definitely love to go back!

FANTASTIC APARTMENT

Chris&Iain London
Review Submitted: August 28, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
The apartment is huge, very tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and fully equipped. Probably the best place you can stay in Speightstown. Certainly much cheaper and nicer than the Almond Beach resort along the road, where our friends stayed - they were very jealous. Both bedrooms are very large and have their own bathrooms, so it was perfect for two couples. The reef running along the coast, on your doorstep, allowed us to see turtles, eels and plenty of tropical fish swim by.
The rooms have aircon and fans and the living room has lots of big doors which allow air in. The balcony is a great place to relax, with a sea view.
Speightstown is a bubbly place with a local feel, less influenced by tourism and with supermarkets etc and a small range of places to eat out.
We loved it!
