A wonderful find in a quiet area of Florence

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 3 nights recently and were very happy with the unit. The location was perfect for us since we did not want to be near any of the more chaotic parts of Florence and most of the shops and markets I wanted to visit were within a few minute's walk of this apartment.
I lived in Florence for 7 years until a few years ago and as an ex-'local', I knew that this would be an ideal area for us. Mercato Sant'Ambrogio is very close by and much better than Mercato Centrale (where only tourists shop). There are also several wonderful little shops and restaurants in this area where the locals still go (as opposed to the areas around the Duomo (Dome) which tend to be thronging with tourists (not to mention the overinflated tourist prices!)).
The apartment is beautifully decorated and very well-maintained. The kitchen is very tiny however, so hosting our Florence friends for the lunches and dinners we shared with them would have been difficult (but most people coming to Florence wouldn't have need of a spacious kitchen). The kitchen would be perfectly appropriate for preparing simple meals, however.
Oh, and the best thing -- the bed was amazingly comfortable! After staying in numerous other rental properties in Italy, the one major common flaw is the use of the typical cheap, wire-mesh bed frame, where the center of the bed completely sags in the middle (so two people end up squished together in the bottom of the sag). This apartment's bed is the modern type with a wooden frame and very firm mattress (on which, after two weeks on a less comfortable bed, we slept amazingly well and almost didn't want to get up!).
The only drawback of the apartment is the lack of an elevator - but if your suitcases aren't that heavy, then it's not a huge issue lugging them up and down the 5 storeys. The climb up and down the stairs without suitcases is easy and it's nice to be on the top floor of the building with the quaint little terrace.
Another huge plus of the unit is the fact that there are two air conditioning units in the apartment. Although we were there in the relatively cooler month of June, if you visit Florence in July or August and stay in the center, you will definitely appreciate having air conditioning in this valley town that traps the heat.
We look forward to staying in the apartment again during our next visit which will definitely be longer than this last one.
Owner's Response: Just to clarify - the apartment is not on the fifth floor. It is on the third floor in European terms; fourth floor in US terms (ground floor, first floor, etc.). Thank you for the wonderful review!
