Casa Palmera

Review Submitted: April 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This house have everything that you would need for a comfortable family holiday. We are a family with three children and all necessary equipment was in the house. It was well maintained and clean and the children found it to be spacious with a good outside space. We stayed for one week in April and the town itself was fairly quite at this time of year but I imagine it would be very different in high season. The weather was not good enough to use the pool but it did look lovely and would be great during the Summer. We thought this house was very good value for money. Steve and Leah were very helpful and prompt to answer any questions we had.

Delightful family villa

Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying in this excellent family villa. There is everything you need to ensure a relaxing time. The pool was a real success with our 18, 16 and 8 year old children resulting in a number of days lazing around the villa, enjoying the sun. Local beaches, restaurants and supermakets are easy to get too and we found we didn't need to do many miles in the car. Steve and Leah were really helpful both prior to arrival via e-mail and during our stay. We intend to return and would very much recommend the villa and the area.

Good holiday address

Review Submitted: January 25, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2008
Lodging was in order, terrace and pool were great, had a lot of fun, quiet area, chimney has not functioned, would have to be stroked from the description. Coffeemaker would be nice, have otherwise managed to us, would spend with pleasure again vacation in L \'Escala, lots of love from Germany of Fam. Tailor

idel chillout

Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
we spent a very relaxing week at Casa Pelmara, we didn't hire a car because of the fairly close proximaty of the shops and beachs, restaurants etc.
The Villa has everything required for self catering including a washing machine, when you consider the weight restrictions imposed nowadays by airlines, allows you to reduce the luggage.
Thoroughly enjoyable chillout.

Our first experience of holiday rental on the Web

Bayron Essonne (south of Paris)-France
Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We rent the villa three weeks in August and September. Initially, a great fear due to the bad reputation of the Web in France ! But the description was accurate regarding the location, layout and amenities. Very nice to find milk, coffe, tea, salt, (and so on) on arrival. We appreciated the well-maintained property, the towels and bedlinen.
At about 300 meters, there is a restaurant with typical and good cooking not very expensive (but we did not appreciate the wine included in the price of the special menu). If you like fishes in sauce, try the zarzuella with a white wine called blanc Pescador. Fine !
Another restaurant we appreciated very much is El Moli de l'Escala : gastronomic cooking, good wines... and much more expensive. But the place is beautiful.
Our children went diving with Grassi-Sub - the office is near the Riells beach in front of the Valvi shop. Very good welcome.

We will recommend this property to our friends but only on other dates than ours because we want to rent it again.

Casa Palmera in October

Maggie 410 Cornwall, UK
Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
This villa is very comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a quiet residential area. We had a most enjoyable, relaxing week there in early October. The nearby restaurant is very good and reasonably priced although there’s not a lot of choice if you don’t like fish and seafood! There are nice beaches in walking distance (15mins or so) but we preferred the beaches which were a short drive away, near the ruins. These are very pretty and have a couple of good beach bars.

There are many villages and towns within easy driving distance, most of which have picturesque historic centres. We particularly liked Banyoles and Castello d’Empuries. If you go to the latter, do visit the lovely church which dominates the town. L’Escala’s old town and harbour area are also worth a stroll around, particularly in the evening.

We found that the Costa Brava basically shuts down at the end of September so if you want nightlife, burger bars, pizza restaurants etc, make sure you visit earlier in the year. We much prefer to find the local eateries and enjoy quiet beaches so it was ideal for us. The weather was in the main warm enough for the beach and lounging by the pool but not too hot for sight seeing. You do need to be prepared for some chillier days and rain at this time of year, though.

All in all, we were very happy with the villa and the location. Although there was just the two of us, the villa will easily accommodate 6 in comfort and has a plentiful supply of bedding, towels, crockery, outdoor seating etc but there is only 1 bathroom. The pool is unheated so was a bit chilly at this time of year (although I did brave a dip) but it’s a reasonable size, nice to sit by and would be great when the weather’s hotter. It’s unfenced so if you have young children, you will need to be very vigilant.

Travelling was very easy for us – we flew from Newquay (45 mins from home) with Ryanair and the villa is less than an hour’s drive from Girona airport. Steve welcomed us when we arrived and gave us all the information we needed. This was a last minute booking – all conducted by email and Steve and Leah were most helpful. I would certainly use them again if we decide to go back to this area.

stayed here for xmas and new year. the villa was short of nothing to make your stay comfortable. cleaned to a very high standard.the grounds and pool were very well maintained.the kitchen was very good quality ,as was the rest of the villa. steve was brilliant, arranging to pick us up from the airport, the walk at the back of the villa through woods, down to the sea was lovely. as were the recently excavated roman ruins nearby. nice resturant a five minute walk away. if i had one critisism it would be the fact we couldnt have a log fire at that time, saying that ,the villa was warm with radiators.would recommend this place to anyone. the owners have worked very hard to get it right. thanks steve and leah. from. marilyn and richard

Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We are a family of six who enjoyed two sunny weeks in June/July in Casa Palmera. A friendly reception and a clean and tidy house gave a very good first impression, and through the stay we were never disappointed. Everything we needed was there, like kitchenware, entertainment, pool, books, etc. The beaches are within walking distance, as are the city center with shops and service facilities. The only thing we were ever missing was an internet connection, but we found the internet cafe and could read our mail from there. All in all we feel the house was worth its price, and we will certainly come back to Casa Palmera, as we all enjoyed it very much!
