Palazzo Rosso, highlight of the Venetian villas

Werner and Cornelia Heilbronn, Southern Germany
Review Submitted: July 9, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Palazzo Rosso proved an ideal choice for the 10-day tour of Palladian villas we had come for. By the time a week had gone by, we realized there were plenty of other things to do in the area: take the bicycle path to Vicenza or discover the backroads (hardly any traffic if you keep off the main road), hike in the Berici Hills ( we tried one tour guided by an Italian guide book we found in the apartment, half guessing what important trail marks the Italian words meant- but we made it!) Coming back from our tours in the evening, it was nice to take a dip in the pool and relax under the arcades, chatting with other guests staying at Palazzo Rosso. Phil and Silvy were always bustling about somewhere and willing to answer our questions. Thankyou for the fresh eggs ( if you boil them, the yolks separate to form little yellow balls- weird!) We admired the tremendous task Phil and Silvy completed in transforming the palazzo wing into apartments that combine traditional masonry and woodwork with modern furnishing. A truly pleasant place to spend a vacation. Recommendable for all kinds of people looking for a holiday home in the area.
Owner's Response: We are always happy that our guests enjoy there time here on the farm. Cornelia and family brought their own bikes with them (although we have bikes available for our guests to use) and spent most of their time off the beaten track, which is one of the best pastimes.

Ciao

My husband and I (along with my son and his family and my niece) enjoyed our stay at Palazzo Rosso Farm tremendously. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it to any friends. We lived in the area many years ago and have been back to Vicenza several times, but this was the very best. Much of our time was spent outside under the portico at the comfortable table provided. Other reviews have said it all and I can only add our thanks to Phil and Sylvia for their wonderful hospitality.

Very relaxing

My husband and I stayed with our 3 small children and we all greatly enjoyed our stay. Our kids would play in the pool or help Sylvia with the animals, while my husband and I could lounge and watch them. The scenery is beautiful and very relaxing all on its own. The location was great as it was centrally located to all the places we wanted to get to on our holiday.

Myself, my husband and our 3 children under 5 found palazzo rosso farm on the internet and stayed for a week whilst in Italy for a wedding. It proved to be the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday. The kids loved the garden, pool and slide. The appartment was well-equipped, clean and we could watch the kids outside whilst upstairs. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definately recommend the farm as a great place to stay to visit Venice (easily done in a day on the train) and the surrounding area.
Owner's Response: We are very lucky that Palazzo Rosso is in a great location for day trips to Venice, Verona, Lake Garda and the Dolomites as our guests well know.

Ciao

I just have to tell that we have been the second time at Palazzo Rosso, because the whole family (kids, parents and grandparents) loved it so much. The appartments are nice and very clean, also the pool. My kids loved to go feeding the animals or taking a bike. We made many trips to nice places and visited two times Venice. The owners are very friendly and helpfully. They have always good propositions or recommendations, for example trips or restaurants. We will surely come again...
Owner's Response: It's great to see guests coming back to stay.

Our stay at the farmhouse was by far the best accomodation during our holiday in Italy. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, very clean, and plenty of room for our family of 5! The setting is beautiful, and our hosts were very friendly, and welcoming. Perfect location for day-trips to surrounding areas, only wish we had more time there! If/when we go back to Italy, we will most definitely stay at the Farmhouse!

Owner's Response: It's great to have guests that enjoy themselves and appreciate the farm and local area.

My husband and I visited in May 2008. The location is ideal for Venice, Padova, Verona, Lake Garda etc. You can catch the train into Venice from Vicenza.
The accommodation is excellent, modern, clean with no expense spared on kitchen and bathroom.
The owners, Phil and Sylvie are very very helpful and what an advantage to have english speaker. The information pack which we were given meant we did not need to spend valuable time looking for the best places to visit. The pack also lists and reviews all the local restaurants.
We like to visit historical towns and went to Soave where we did a wine tasting!!.
A couple with a young family were staying and they would go off to Lake Garda for the day .
We will definately visit again and we would highly recommend it.

We booked our stay here as the second week of a two week stay, we will almost definitely be back, but probably for a full two weeks next time, and would recommend to friends.
The property is well described on this site, with everything as described, and exceeding expectations. All was clean and well maintained.

Phil and Silvia were excellent hosts, and could not do enough to help.

There was plenty to do in the area, with many things we never got round to doing. Plenty of restaurants, none of which we could fault.
Owner's Response: Once again we are happy to read that our guests enjoyed their stay with us.

Just returned from a holiday at Palazzo Rosso farm, and have to say what an oasis this is in beautiful Italian countryside. We had trips to Vicenza(architecture),Venice(history),and Lake Garda(scenery),all in easy reach, but our wonderful hosts,Phil and Silvi, were able to suggest many other locations nearby, which we enjoyed so much. They did everything possible to make our stay memorable. For relaxing days there is a new pool, and we could explore the farm on bikes(provided)or on foot.
Our apartment was in a converted 400 year old barn, part of the original estate, and provided all that we needed, especially when we prepared our own food and sat outside under the huge roof.Silvi leaves fresh eggs and fruit from the farm for the guests to take.
The apartment had an information folder telling us the best places to shop and eat,and previous guests had entered their own reviews.
We think that Phil and Silvi are to be congratulated on what they have achieved, and we are already planning our next visit to explore Verona and Padua, and to sample the restaurants we missed this time.

Fantastic Place! We had a wonderful time

My husband and I booked in here so we could do some short trips in northern Italy and use this as a base. It was too beautiful to leave! Phil and Celia were wonderful hosts, the instructions to get there were very easy to follow. There was so much to see in the area we would like to stay a couple of weeks next time we visit. We're already planning our next trip and Palazzo Rosso will definately be on our list of places to visit.

The property was as described only better than we had expected. There was a wonderful common patio area out the front which was well maintained with a BBQ and tables and chairs to sit and have a relaxing drink in the afternoon, with grapes hanging down from vines at the front. And there were 2 pools so it was never too busy for a swim or to just relax near the pool under the trees.

Phil and Celia had information about restaurants and other activities in a common area downstairs for anyone who needed local information and were happy to chat and give you any information you needed. They made us feel very welcome and at home.

We would recommend this property to friends and we will definately be back again to visit for ourselves! We loved every moment of our time there.
Owner's Response: It's so nice to have guests go home and then take the time to write a review, we think that this is by far the best publicity any holiday rental owner can ask for. Just one thing Liz got my wifes name wrong it's not Celia but Silvia !!
