A perfect Holiday

We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday at Villa Mavrikiano. Unfortunatley, it was just not long enough. The villa had everything we could ask for - top class facilities and the most stunning views. The pool was a big hit with our son and we ourselves had great fun using the training swimming machine. Elounda is just majical with an abundance of restaurants and bars of all sorts, catering for everyone. We spent a lot of time enjoying the beaches and visiting other nearby towns. Plaka is a gorgeous village, less than 5kms away and we would particulalry recommend taking the boat from there to visit nearby Spinalonga. In every way, our hoiday was perfect - we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Wonderful Mini Break!

Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Wonderful Ladies Mini Break, with all you could wish for and much more!

Villa Mavrikiano was perfect in everyway. Being the end Villa, the views were breathtaking; the Villa was very private too. Us 5 ladies had a fantastic time. Being only a group of 4 villas we had stunning views, the pool was a great size for a dip and to lay on the lilo’s. The pool terrace was perfect; you would get the occasional ant/s, which was to be expected in a hot country. We felt very safe and there was still plenty of room for 5 ladies to move around in the Villa. The Villa is very well equipped, lovely modern bathrooms and bedrooms with air conditioning. Very clean and tidy…. spotless. All in all very comfortable and modern in comparison to some Villas we had stayed in before.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the management company to the locals in Elounda. We spent the first 2 days in the Villa after only venturing out to the local supermarket, Lidls, where you can grab bargain food and wine, so we stocked up. Day 3 we visited Babel’s in the town where you can get great food at a great price. The Ferryman in the Evening was also a wonderful dining experience on the waters edge. We would also recommend the very traditional taverna just below the Villa’s, very small, quaint but very Greek. You can have a wonderful meal there, value for money, with a great atmosphere,

When not driving we walked, the small but steep hill is a great way to work of the food and if you want to take a less strenuous walk you can turn right after the small steep hill and head down an alternative route (past the in Mavrikiano, the small café / shop with fantastic views) which can take you through the winding lanes to the town of Elounda. Or if you are really lazy the Mercedes taxis will take you up to the Villa from the town, you may just have to persuade them, as it is a short trip for them to do.

All in all for a short break we had a brilliant time and hope to return back again soon for a longer period of time. Would certainly recommend for groups, couples and families!

Fantastic Holiday Experience

P & JB South Wirral, England
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We have just returned from 12 glorious days spent in Villa Mavrikiano. The villa exceeded our expectations - the photos don't really do it justice. Everything in the villa was top quality, and showering in the morning was fun, listening to greek music from the in-shower radio!

The whole experience at the villa was so tranquil, peaceful and relaxing, and the views and activities on the sea kept us entertained from early morning coffee on our balcony to sundowners by the pool, so much so that we really did have to force ourselves to go out each day!

Not having a car gave us the opportunity to meet many of the villagers living in Mavrikiano and we made many friends. The down-side to not having a car is that most of the Elounda taxi drivers wont drive to the villa so we certainly kept fit! The waterside tavernas in Elounda were well worth the walk though, but we couldn't wait to get back to our villa and its lovely pool. We BBQ'd by the pool most nights and felt that we were in the best restaurant, with certainly the best views in the whole of Elounda!!

There is a mini market a few minutes walk away which sells water, soft drinks and, of course ouzo and next door is an amazing little kafenion called Hope - where you serve yourself! - the owner is 97 years young and certainly had a tale or two to tell.

We were very sad to leave, and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Villa Mavrikiano - you wont regret it!

Villa Mavrikiano

Villa Mavrikiano is modern and well equipped and being in an elevated position you have the stunning views over the bay and the wonderful resort of Elounda. Open the front door and the views are just as stunning with mountains and a valley full of olive trees. So what more can I say, the villa, views, Elounda and the great island of Crete make this a great place to have a great holiday

Lovely Villa with Stunning views

We enjoyed a lovely week in Elounda staying in Villa Mavrikiano, situated in a lovely location above Elounda with unspoilt views of Elounda bay and the sea.
The Villa is very comfortable and clean with a nice small pool to cool of at beside the terrace.
Access is up a very steep hill and could be a bit daunting for some drivers.
Both bedrooms have a nice balcony with table and chairs overlooking the bay and it was pleasure to wake up to the lovely view in the morning.
A good choice of restaurants nearby and Spinalonga Island is a must and only 20 minutes boat ride out of Elounda.
All in all a wonderful place to chill out de-stress and enjoy.

Many thanks

Charlie and Maureen

Our stay in Villa Mavrikiano was absolutely wonderful. Our party had two couples and the villa suited our needs well with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The view from the patio was breathtaking and we enjoyed it morning and night. The description and pictures on the website do not do it justice, it's more beautiful in person. Rent a car and explore the island. We discovered many local villages and tavernas in remote areas that we otherwise would not have experienced.
The town of Elounda was perfect with the selection of tavernas, grocery stores, bakery and the bay with the brighly colored fishing boats. We especially enjoyed Necktario and his family at the Babel Cafe.
We would highly recomend this villa to anyone interested in traveling to Crete.

Fantastic Holiday!

Villa Mavrikiano is the perfect place to relax day or night with its spectacular views, great facilities and perfect swimming pool. Everything about the villa is 5 star with everything you could ever need provided to the highest standards.
Elounda is just a 5 minute walk away and it’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for families and couples. It has a great selection of restaurants and bars catering for a wide range of tastes and budgets. There were a couple of great restaurants recommended to us by the agents that we kept returning too when we weren’t BBQ’ing by the pool.
Elounda is also the perfect base from which to explore further with plenty to see and do. I would recommend a trip to the Island of Spinalonga and the town of Agios Nikolaos for shopping and nightlife.
The owner and the agents were helpful and efficient and provided us with all the help and information we needed to make the most of our time there.
If you’ve ever been to Crete before you’ll know the weather is always great!
We will definitely be returning in the very near future.

Villa Mavrikiano, so good we went twice!

Denise&Nathe High Wycombe, Bucks
Review Submitted: September 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Villa Mavrikiano is somewhere I would like to stay twice a year, every year! My husband and I have been twice in 2008 and had an amazing holiday both times. The accommodation is 5 star with all the facilities you could possibly need, pool, sun loungers, bbq, air-con, washing machine, TV&stereo etc etc. Everything is of high quality and comfortable as well as clean. The views from the villa are quite stunning at all times of the day and the terrace / sunbathing area gives an ideal opportunity to look over traditional Mavrikiano and along to Elounda on the right or to the left, Spinalonga. A 10-15 min walk will get you into Elounda itself where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants, if you want to stay even nearer try out the local taverna only 2mins from the villa. A 5 minute car jounrey gets you to the watersports beach and a bit further along is the village of Plaka with some fantastic sea facing tavernas. If you are arriving late then order a welcome pack, a very reasonable 35 euros, and you'll be sorted with beer, juice, water, wine, bread, butter, jam etc.
All in all, a great holiday in a great villa, sunshine pretty much guaranteed, you can't go wrong. Have recommended to friends and family and we are already booked to go back in '09!

Stunning Views

Review Submitted: August 19, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This villa has amazing views across Elounda and Big Spinalonga. Throughout the day the colours change and there is always something to watch in the harbour. The villa was beautifully clean and well maintained and we enjoyed the mid week clean and laundry change. The bedrooms were air conditioned but we found they were cool enough at night because of the breeze. On the whole the description was accurate although the pictures certainly make the pool seem a little larger than it is in real life! Pool lights were not working whilst we were there but the current machine was fun and meant that you could get a work out swimming against it. The house is in a good position, the last in a group of 4 but the road up to the villa is incredibly steep and would not be suitable for anyone infirm. Elounda is a lovely resort/town with plenty for everyone. It has good links to the national road and is a base for visiting some of the sights of the area. Elounda has a brilliant range of tavernas -from cheap and cheerful to posh enough for a special occasion. The owner and the agents were helpful and efficient and provided good service, although a welcome pack of something more than a bottle of water would be a good idea!
