Villa Amelia can only be described as excellent accommodation perfectly described in its listing. It's in a fantastic area.

My family have had two fantastic holidays here now and we would highly recommend it you will not be disappointed should you choose to holiday here a definate home from home.

The owners and the villa management team were most courteous and helpful.

An ideal spot for relaxing after a long hard day on the beach or by the pool.

car is recommended.

How to lose yourself to island life...

Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay:
I travelled to Kefalonia for the first time in April with two friends. We were looking for somewhere to relax, unwind and enjoy island life – we found it here. Villa Amelia was everything we could have asked for in holiday accommodation and more. After a long haul flight we were thrilled (and relieved) to find the house spotless, furnished beautifully, and kitted out with every modern appliance, including internet. The house itself is only about ten minutes from the airport, so we could settle in almost immediately, and we found a shop less than two minutes walk away for our kitchen staples.

Bedrooms are spacious – the house could easily have catered for a family – and the open plan living area is bright and airy. It was fantastic to find a stocked bookshelf, board games and lots of DVDs in case we felt like a night in. The swimming pool and garden were a great alternative when we felt like a change from the beach. There is also a patio area and a full dining suite with outdoor BBQ for home cooking.

We rented a car, and this way the house was in easy reach of the main town of Kefalonia, as well as a number of smaller surrounding villages and a range of tavernas and restaurants. Pam and Ivor who maintain the property were invaluable, pointing us in the direction of good beaches, and places to eat and drink close by.

Well recommended for short or long stays – you could get quite comfortable here!

A blissful fortnight in Kefalonia

Review Submitted: June 16, 2009 Date of Stay:
Villa Amelia was everything we hoped for, as was Kefalonia itself. The villa is quietly situated at the end of a small cul de sac, on the edge of a quiet village. It is clean, well presented and equipped with everything necessary to make life easy. Although the television reception is very poor (and all in Greek) the extensive selection of DVDs more than compensated. The availability of internet access was a boon for keeping in Email contact with our children.
The garden is a really pleasant place to relax, swim in the pool and admire the wonderful views of the mountains. The barbeque area is a really useful feature.
Pat and Eileen, the owners, were a pleasure to deal with, and Pam and Ivor who maintain the villa were friendly and helpful.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa as a base for a wonderful, relaxing holiday; especially in late May when the spring flowers are beautiful, the beaches are almost empty as are the roads and the weather is warm (mid to high 70's). This was our first visit to Kefalonia, but it will not be our last.

Very Highly Recommended

This was our second visit to Kefalonia. The 1st visit was about 20 years ago. Villa Amelia was
everything you could wish for. .The owners Pat & Eileen were more than helpful with information
about the villa, the area, and about Kefalonia in general. Pam & Ivor were also very helpful and Pam went out of her way to ensure that we had everything we needed to have a perfect holiday. The location was great for exploring the island. The fridge was well stocked with essentials such a bread, milk, butter etc. The villa was in a quiet area and within easy reach of tavernas by car about 5 minutes drive to a few tavernas. The nearest taverna was about 5 minutes walk from the villa and Argostoli was only short drive away and lots of tavernas and supermarkets along the way. The villa was very homely, well kept and very clean. The slimming pool was also very clean and well maintained as were the gardens. The scenery was spectacular all over the island. All the beaches in Kefalonia were very clean and well maintained. We definitely would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Amelia in fact we look forward to our next visit in the not too distant future.

Home from Home

Review Submitted: October 15, 2008 Date of Stay:
We have just returned from two wonderful weeks at Villa Amelia, which was just superb. The description was very accurate and the house was just as we were expecting. It is obviously a well-loved family home, and we certainly felt very much at home from the moment we arrived. The owners were extremely helpful whilst booking, and were keen to answer all our questions promptly and accurately.

The house was spotless on our arrival and beautifully maintained - the swimming pool was cleaned at least twice whilst we were there, the gardens were cut and trimmed, and the house cleaned from top to bottom at least once. As others have already said, the fridge was well stocked with enough to tide us over for a day or two, and it was great having the dishwasher to take care of the dishes!

The house is beautifully furnished, the beds are comfortable (not like some 'Greek' beds we've had!), and everything was good quality, even down to the cutlery. The BBQ area is better than the photos show as it has now been built-in with a pergola and has table and chairs, lighting etc. The pool was ideal, and the gardens are very peaceful and rural. The house backs south, so you get the sun in the garden for most of the day.

One thing to note is that you really do need a car to get around, so it might not be suitable for people who don't drive – however, it's a lovely area for walking and we did see one or two buses now and again.

There are a few local tavernas/restaurants in the area – we particularly liked ‘Byrons’, which is about a 5 min drive. The food there is lovely, and it is frequented by the locals, which is always a good sign. Avithos Bay is a very pleasant beach, and there are two good tavernas there too (from which we saw some lovely sunsets).

We would definitely recommend this property to friends - we loved it and hope to return ourselves sometime for another visit.

Wonderful holiday

Villa Amelia is a beautifully kept villa in a very quiet and peaceful location in Kefalonia. Our family of 5 had a very comfortable stay in this villa - it had all the mod cons we needed and plenty of space to accommodate us. The owners had left a very well stocked fridge along with the welcome pack of basics, which was greatly appreciated as we'd arrived on Sunday when all the shops are closed. There were many homely touches in the villa and a well stocked library of books and DVDs. Although there aren't any tavernas within a reasonable walking distance, Metaxata is only a short drive from Argostoli. The many beaches in Kefalonia are a must for anyone thinking of visiting. All in all we had a lovely time in Kefalonia and will definitely visit again.

A wonderful stay!

Having visited most of the larger Greek Islands, we had not visited Kefalonia before. We adored the island, and our wonderful holiday, during June 2008, was only enhanced by the lovely Villa Amelia!
Clean, cosy and home-from-home! Many thoughtful touches made in the Villa to ensure that our stay was enjoyed, including virtually a full fridge of essentials upon arrival - which mean't for us, that in heat of 35 degrees we didn't have to take 2 young children back out to the Supermarket.
You will need a car with this Villa, as there are very few tavernas within walking distance. However, this will ensure that you get around this beautiful island and see all there is to offer!
We will look forward to another stay!

We visitied this villa in May 2008 and cannot fault it in any way. Our only regret is that we did not book for 2 weeks instead of 1. The villa was perfect for our small family, it will suit a family of 4 very well and the pool was especially ideal for our 6yr old as it graduated and was not too deep. There isn't a lot in the village but we managed very well as it is a very short drive into Argostolli and there are large supermarkets en route.
The villa was very well equipped with many nice and thoughtful additions, such as the use of tour guides and maps. It was very clean and well maintained and exceed our expectations, i would have no hesitation recommending this villa. However, as the villa is situated within a quiet village there are not a lot of tavernas or local ammenities therefore a car is essential.
The roads are a little hairy at times and do not always lend themselves to a 'relaxing' holiday but do not let this put you off. Kefalonia is a very beautiful island and well worth a visit.

Highly Recommended for a Relaxing Break

My wife and I had a fantastic week's holiday with Villa Amelia as our base in September 2007. Pat, the owner, was extremely helpful and provided us with lots of useful information, hints and tips prior to our departure from the UK. We were met at the airport by Pam who we followed to the villa in our hire car which Pat had organised for us at a very reasonable rate. Amelia is only a 10-15 minute drive from the airport and an ideal base from which to explore the island. On arrival we were pleased to find a welcome pack including cold beers - just what I needed to cool down. Pam had done an excellent job cleaning the villa in advance of our arrival. The villa was spotless and the gardens and pool area are clearly well looked after. All facilities were exactly as described in the advertisement. The information pack was particularly useful with lots of information on places to visit, restaurants, taxi services, emergency contact details etc. The location is very peaceful, at the end of smalll cul de sac with plenty of privacy. There are excellent views of Mount Ainos from the villa and the delightful Avithos beach is only a short drive away. Argostoli, the island's capital, is an inexpensive short taxi drive away. Pat put us in touch with an English speaking taxi driver who was very reliable. In Argostoli there are plenty of bars and restaurants to suit all budgets. Our particular favourite was the Captain's Table just off the main square. If you prefer to eat at home, there are a number of supermarkets nearby and fresh fish can be bought from the fishermen at Argostoli Harbour. The other main resorts are easily reached by car from Metaxata

Villa Amelia was everything we had hoped for and we are very grateful to Pat & Eileen for providing such a lovely, well equipped base for us to enjoy this beautiful island.
