villa henrika

Review Submitted: September 7, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
hello everyone. my family and our friends booked the villa in july this year. there were nine people in total including one of our party who is wheelchair bound. the villa is very roomy with large entrance area and large loung/kitchen. every room has on-suite facilities which for a large party was ideal.all bedrooms are a good size, most with balconys as well. the pool was a great size together with the patio area and garden was perfect for relaxing in the evening.the housekeepers were extremely helpful from asking if things were ok, to giving us ideas on places to visit. the local shops are a five minute walk away, and provide nearlly all you will need. providing you have transport even the furthest towns are only 30 minutes away. there is a bus stop right outside if you need it.overall a wonderful property, big enough ffor ten people, with friendly caretakers and local people.I am sure we will be visiting mr lapiras villa again soon and would recommend it 100% to anyone else . regards gary.

Lovely time in Villa Hendrika

Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The villa was as described on the internet. We very much liked the open-plan layout of the property and what a bonus all bedrooms having an en-suite bathroom facility. The property was clean and generally well-maintained. Lovely pool and outdoor space. We were met by the owner at the airport which was a nice welcome to the area. Every few days the lovely house-keeper popped round to check everything was satisfactory with the villa and our stay. I would certainly recommend this villa to friends. We loved the rustic and quiet location, such friendly locals too. Hiring cars we would certainly recommend in order to have the freedom to explore the island. The road surfaces aren't great but almost add to the charm of this unspoilt location. You have to explore on foot to find the local amenities and restaurants around Qala, they are there, you just need to look for them!

Mixed Reviews - August 2009

Review Submitted: September 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our 5th time to the fantastic island of Gozo. This was the first time that we’ve stayed on this side of the island. The Henrika is clean and spacious and fairly well equipped, but being a new build has no real character or charm - something that we all missed. The owners of the villa next door were very approachable and didn’t mind when our ball went over the wall a couple of times or when we blocked their car in with ours because the parking is an issue. There are three villas out of the five or six villas that are completed and we feel that if all of the remaining villas were also finished then the noise level created by holiday makers may have been more of a problem. As it was, the road alongside the villa’s location is quite a busy road and carries a fair few lorries too and fro. My mother who had the downstairs room (with a view of a brick wall, incidentally!) found this to be very disruptive at 7am in the morning.

On a more positive note Doris the house maid is an absolute star, bringing us, amongst other things, grapes and prickly pears directly from her garden. We will definitely be going back to visit Doris, but sadly perhaps not the Henrika.
Owner's Response: Thank you Liza. I am sure that you were aware that villa Henrika was a new built on a traditional design when you booked online. Regarding the parking - there is a three car garage with a remote operated door twenty meters away which was available . All other reviews comment favorably about the quiet atmosphere that the villa offers. There are only two villas left unsold. These will not necessarily be rented out when and if sold and like the others may be bought for personal use and seldom lived in, incidentally like the one next to Henrika which is used three weeks yearly. I feel that the comment regarding the noise is purely speculative and out of context. The downstairs bedroom was designed for elderly and disabled people and unlike you, many of those who stayed at the villa were thankful for this facility. I also thought that you would give a description of the lovely views of Gozo’s countryside that you surely enjoyed from the other four bedrooms.

Thanks good Day

Paul

Having never been to Malta before really didn't know what to expect....fantastic wonderful and stunning are just a few descriptions! The villa was situated in a quiet residential area absolutely no noise of an evening time apart from us! The village was just a 5 minute stroll away with everything we needed. We were there for the festa which was magnificent! Doris and Vince couldn't do enough for us and we were made to feel really welcome by them. We managed to travel round the island in one day and see all the wonderful sights gozo has to offer. We also took a half day boat trip to the blue lagoon and around Comino and again were well lookedd after. The locals were very friendly after just a couple of days we were being recognised in the square. Paul came to visit half way during our stay and made sure that everything was ok for us. All in all a fabulous holiday highly recommended and will definitely look at returning in the near future!

Beautiful villa in a lovely village

We booked this villa based on the photos and the previous reviews and it exceeded our expectations. Paul was a pleasure to deal with. It seemed very important to him that we enjoyed our stay and everything was to our liking.
The villa has everything you'd want. You could just spend the day by the beautiful pool and then use the built in gas bbq. It is a very short walk to the centre of Qala where there are a couple of restaurants and bars. We really liked these. They had a lovely atmosphere, the food was lovely (portions are huge!) and it's very cheap!
We got to see a lot of the island (it's small so nowhere is really far) and got into Valetta for a day trip and in the end we realised that we'd been very lucky as Qala was the place we liked most. I usually don't like to go back to the same place on a holiday but I think this will be the exception!

First class villa - everything you need for a relaxing holiday!

Paul was very efficient in confirming arrangements, helping with transfers and car hire.

The jewels in the crown with this villa are Vince and Doris who live nearby and look after you during their stay. They go over and above what is expected, we took my disabled son and whilst villa is ideal for wheelchair users, Vince built ramps for not just front step but for the hire car which was superb esp as wheelchair is electric and weighs a ton!
Gozo is fab, one of the last few unspoilt places in Europe - dont go if you want nightlife but if you want a lovely relaxing holiday in the sun in a quiet, friendly village this is for you.

Qala is a quaint little village, a few shops which are good value. Our favourite bar was Kaputa esp the endless supply of nibbles "forced upon you!

Xerri Il Bukkett is worth a visit, if just for the view.

Definitely recommended

Super modern villa

Review Submitted: August 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Just returned from 2 weeks at Villa Henrika with my brother and our respective families. The villa was everything we were expecting, very clean and well presented with the huge advantage of all the rooms being en-suite. What we didn't expect was the very friendly, helpful locals, the excellent atmosphere in the square at night (we visited during the festa) and the general feeling of safety/security. The owner Paul dealt with the booking and our requests efficiently and constantly checked during our stay that everything was OK. The caretakers Doris and Vince were also super, nothing too much trouble. There lots of good restaurants at Imgar Harbour ( 5 mins drive, you could walk, approx 30 mins but its uphill back! as well as a nice restaurant (Ta Vestru) in the square (5 mins walk) which also does take away pizza etc. The square also has at least 3 local pubs/bars at which the local beer Cisk is only 1 euro a bottle, a chinese restaurant (good quality but more expensive than the UK)as well as a "club". If you have been put off by the brashness of Malta you will love Gozo, less litter, more sympathetic building and general peace and quiet. Don't go if you want non stop action/nightlife and shopping. Do go if you want modern clean accomodation, like mixing with local people and enjoy eating simple good quality food at reasonable prices (meal for 10 at Ta Vestru with drinks and 3 bottles of wine was 160 euros for starters and main courses, I defy anyone to eat a desert given the huge portion size and complementary bruschetta! If you want to spoil yourself eat at Ta Frenc on the Marsalforn Road, superb food, set table d'hote 28 euros, a la carte considerably more around 50 euros per head without drinks. We fully intend to return!

Gozo - A gem !

Review Submitted: July 2, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
For a family holiday, the first time on Gozo we found the villa situated in a quiet area of the town and yet only a quick walk to the square. The Villa is a new build and very well furnished. From the first contact with Paul all arrangements where handled without drama and we had a fantastic week there. The property was just as described and everything we needed was provided, the housekeeper was a lovely lady who was most helpful and made us very welcome, and the villa was spotless when we arrived. A small island means that everything is in easy reach although a car is essential to explore further afield, good resturants, bars and also supermarkets are within an easy walk from the villa. We had a great time and cannot thank Paul enough for ensuring that everything was in order for our stay.
***** Five stars highly recommended.

Holidayto Gozo- July 2007 Francesca and family

Review Submitted: June 20, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
My sister and I plus partners took our 4 children there last July.
The villa was spotless and had everything you needed.
On hand was Doris and her husband who catered for anything you may want advice on.

The village is quiet, but the Maltese people are the nicest people I have ever met. My sister and partner went to the local shop to pick up some groceries and they actually gave them a lift back in their car. People stop and chat to you in the street, and they are totally genuine.
The area of Gozo itself is just lovely, with the lagoon trip out on the boat, an absolute must.
There are places to visit for shopping, a taxi ride away, but it is worth it
The villa itself has a beautiful pool, which is lit at night.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which was lovely/
We felt so safe and welcome in Gozo, we would have even gone out and left the doors open ( we didn't) but that is how safe you feel.
Paul the owner, was very approachable, and was happy to advise us of anything, whether it be with the booking or whilst at the villa. We were met at the airport and on the whole, I would totally recommend this accommodation to families.

I would have liked to have gone again this year, but the size of our party has grown, so we sadly need a bigger villa.

Francesca
