IN THE HEART OF THE THEATRE DISTRICT

FIGUIER Cannes, France
Review Submitted: January 12, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2008
This was the ideal property for our long awaited one month visit to Paris. The owners were very accommodating to our special requests. Everything was as advertised. We were up and running with wi-fi in a few minutes and the bookshelf of books on Paris was more than we could handle in the month that we were there.

It is nice to walk up the one floor to the apartment, but there is an elevator if required. The concierge was available when we arrived and was very friendly to us. The apartment is spacious and there is a good sized dining table, which is usually an item missing in apartments of this size. Although in the centre of Paris, the apartment was very quiet. We had very little rain during our stay, but when we did, there was a wonderful choice of umbrellas to use.

The kitchen is a typical small French kitchen, with all the amenities. I don't know how the French do it, but they cook the most wonderful meals in these kitchens. I guess all the fancy gadgets in a huge kitchen is not the secret. The owners welcome you to use their stocked pantry, as long as you replace what you have used.

The apartment is truly very central. The Opera is one of the magnets of Paris and it is only two blocks away. There are several theatres, cinemas and restaurants within only one block. Except for the latin quarter, most of the other central parts of Paris are within walking distance, including Montmartre.

For those that want to prepare their own meals, there are several good grocers within a 10 minute walk. The Galerie Lafayette has a most delicious high end market with anything that you can hope for. It is just the other side of the Opera. The Monoprix department store, just five minutes walk, is where the ordinary Parisiens shop. The supermarket, in the basement, has excellent quality at the most reasonable prices.

The owners of this apartment bought it for themselves but then decided to make it available to others as well. It is apparent that they love it, from all the small personal choices that they have made. They are also very amicable and some day we would love to meet them if we are in Rome.

This property was everything that was expected. Extremely close to all public transport stops and only a short walk 2 most locations. Right in central paris it was perfect for day exploring with a great base to come back to at the end of the day. Great restaurants literally downstairs and everyhting was just so convenient. Made our stay in Paris perfect. Thank you once again.

I just want to say Carmen and her husband were very helpful and did a great job with communicating and answering questions. The apartment is located in a perfect area and you are very close to all major things to do and see in paris. There were only a few minor issues which i feel need to be addressed. The bathroom could have been cleaner. For the money we spent i think the bathroom could of been in a lot better condition. The tiles had mildew and were dirty. The bathroom show curtin was also old and dirty. For charging a 50 euro cleaning fee i would of expected the place to be in perfect condition. Everything else was fine, but I also feel its worth mentioning that the bed sheets could be a little nicer or newer. I've stayed at 2 star motels with a nicer bed sheets then what was provided. Lastly the upstairs neighbor was very loud in the morning, on my vaction i was hoping to sleep in but by 7am i was woken up by the upstairs neighbor walking back and forth very loudly on the wooden floors that make a lot of noise. I dont want to sound negative, the place was very cozy and in a perfect location, but i just feel that there were a few things that could be improved upon.

Great Apartment, but Hot

boxster Austin, Texas
Review Submitted: July 10, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My wife and I spent 6 nights in Carmen & Mauro's "Opera Apartment." Their assistance and communication was prompt and enormously helpful. We couldn't have asked for better "hosts." They sent detailed info on options to get from the airport to the apartment, lots of details for groceries, restaurants, tips on Paris for novices, etc. They were absolutely wonderful.

And the apartment is in a great location -- key tourist sites, metro, etc. -- and ample space for two.

Our only complaint is that it was too warm and difficult to cool -- impossible to get a cross-breeze and thus we needed to sleep w/ the windows open, which we would have loved except for loud street noise until about midnight and starting by 5:30-6 in the morning.

They've installed fantastic, sound-proof windows so the street noise was absolutely no problem with the windows shut, but w/o fans to cool the space it was hot. That said, I will seek Carmen & Mauro out the next time we're in Europe because they are ambassadors that demonstrate why vacation rental owners can provide much better service than a hotel concierge!

A Glorious February Break

adze Ontario, Canada
Review Submitted: March 1, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Instead of going south to the sun this year my husband and I went to Paris to see the sights, which we did ! We stayed in this apartment and had a wonderful time. It was comfortable (I had worried about central heating in Paris) but we were toasty warm with lots of hot water. The apartment itself was charming and the added bonus of a concierge was really appreciated. The location was perfect - a bakery at hand, a short walk to the Opera and ready access to elegant shopping at the Galeries Lafayette and other large stores. We looked rather than bought but we certainly enjoyed spending our money on great food and wine. When we were not in cafes or brasseries the Montorgeuil "market" was a pleasant walk away and had exquisite take out food. Carmen and Mauro provided great instructions as to getting to the apartment and how to use the equipment. We felt that we could really rely on them and when I needed some help with getting the computer going Mauro called me back and fixed the problem. We also received our deposit back in four days. All in all a great trip and we even lucked into good weather for Paris in the winter.

Absolutely fantastic! After reading the reviews before our trip I was really looking forward to it - I was not disappointed. This was a surprise for my husbands 40th birthday and I wanted it to be perfect - and it was! Everything you would like in your own home was available here - and more. An excellent apartment that we will definatley return to, we couldn't stay anywhere else after this, we felt completely spoilt! The icing on the cake was the wonderful Victoria - she made us feel so welcome and had lots of time for us, even though we spoke little 'true' french! Carmen - I congratulate you on your interior design, it's beautiful! The description of this apartment was spot on, it was spotless and well maintained. The customer service was excellent, with lots of information available at the apartment. I would definately recommend it - such a perfect location for absolutely everything.

We decided to stay in this loft apartment after reading the reviews of others who had stayed there, we have found this to be a very reliable indication of how the place really is. Well, while the reviews were all excellent, the loft exceeded our expectations. We are already planning our next trip back there. The loft is perfectly situated for immediate access to the metro. Charmingly decorated and after staying in many beds in Europe, by far the most comfortable. The owners go the extra step to make sure everything runs smoothly. I had not downloaded directions to the loft and immediately prior to our leaving they called just to make sure we were going to be OK.

Three old ladies at CaMallo apartmeny

Carmen and Mauro,
What a wonderful time we had at your home in Paris. Everything was just as you said, and close to everything. We would leave in the morning and return in the late afternoon to rest, and enjoy some wine and cheese snacks before going out to dinner. We left town for three days and traveled to Rouen, the Beaches of Normandy and Mont-Saint-Michel. It was so nice to be able to leave our bags and not worry about them. After staying in small hotels for two nights we could hardly wait to get back to our Paris
home. Victoria was there to greet us, she was such a sweet lady.
So my birthday in Paris turned out to be ten wonderful days, thank you so much for everything. I've told my friends if they want to live like the french they must try an apartment like yours.

Our first visit to Paris

Our family of four stayed in Carmen and Mauro's well situated apartment. It was wellcoming and homely and had everything we required to be self sufficient. Close to shops and restaurants and to attractions such as the Opera and the Louvre, made it perfect for our needs. Carmen and Mauro were exceedingly helpful to us via email and we look forward to future contact with them on any of our trips to Paris.

Abbiamo scoperto una gemma a Parigi

Lucia e Roberto Napoli, ITALY
Review Submitted: May 16, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
