Fantastic break

Review Submitted: October 29, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
It was our 6th trip to Kefalonia in 4 years and we had another lovely, relaxing break. It was the views that convinced us to book Villa Santolina & we were not disappointed! I am very scared of dogs, but Angela & Malcolm were very understanding & we were introduced gradually..... and by the end of the fortnight, even I wanted to take them home with us!
The villa & pool are immaculate and Angela does a fantastic job of keeping the inside spotless, while Malcolm looks after outside areas. The welcome pack was a nice gesture and they seem to have thought of everything that you might need while you are away. We felt that they couldn't do enough for us without being in our face, which was just how we like it. There was an issue with the front door lock on the first day and they got onto it straight away to get it fixed, and were so apologetic, even though it wasn't there fault - these things happen and the way they reacted just supported our view that we had come to the right place.
We had come for a relaxing break so spent most of our time by the pool, taking in the views. We loved sitting on the balcony upstairs at night to watch the stars and look out to sea! It was so peaceful and away from it all. It made a nice change to be able to sit by the pool and not hear kids screaming as they jumped in and out of their pool at a nearby villa, as the neightbours here are a good distance away.
We would strongly recommend a hire car to make the most of your stay at the villa.
If the weeks we wanted weren't already booked, we would have booked for next year as we enjoyed it that much! Book it - you won't be disappointed!!

Villa Santolina - a brilliant week

Pat & Richard Burgess Hill Sussex England
Review Submitted: October 2, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Our great week was rounded off with thunder, lightning and torrential rain on Friday - quite spectacular to stand on your balcony and watch the lightning flashing round the bay.
Malcolm and Angela were the perfect hosts and more. It appeared nothing was too much trouble and no question was too stupid. The 3 dogs Tosca, Max and Hobo kept us entertained and provided a regular welcoming committee on return from trips out! When the 2 cats had a quiet moment from escaping the dogs they were more than happy to 'chill' with you.
The villa is absolutely wonderful with everything you are likely to need - the pictures don't say nearly enough really. You have to experience it to appreciate it - a perfect place to truly relax.
A trip round the local area with Malcolm on our first day was so helpful - providing us with the important local landmarks quickly- drinking, eating, swimming, shopping as was the welcome pack provided. Recommendations for eating places & day trips from both Malcolm and Angela were spot on and Malcolm's timings were frustratingly accurate!!
The pool was spotless and really inviting so most days I gave in even if I had been to the beach!
A car is an absolute must especially if you want to see other parts of the island and properly appreciate the physical aspects of the country - we did a lot but there's plenty more for another time. A week went so quickly. If you are picking your car up from the airport as we did, the directions that Angela and Malcolm provide for you are perfect, so no worries on that score.
We visited Argostoli, Assos, Fiskardo, Sami, Poros, Skala and Kortelios to name just a few with the Klimatis taverna down at the bay our favourite eating place. The greek night at the Andromeda was a truly lively experience as well.
We have already and will continue to recommend this property to friends, relatives and work colleagues. The combination of our hosts, the villa and the island itself gave us a wonderful week to remember, so Thank You.

Wonderful holiday. Sun, sun, sun and more sun for 2 weeks. Villa was immaculate. All facilities available, air con worked brilliantly (you need it in August as temperatures were 40C+ when we stayed) spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Angela, Malcolm and the dogs were brilliant. Collected us from the airport, excellent welcome pack in the villa on arrival. Malcolm showed us where to eat & visit on the island. His advice was invaluable and always accurate. The dogs were great, we miss them!
The pictures on this page do not do justice to how good this villa really is. You will need a car to make the most of this beautiful island - Ithaka is a must also. Tavernas and Greek food was high quality. Andromeda, Klematis and The Premier were our favourites.
We will definitely return.
Angela & Malcolm - Thanks for a lovely holiday

The villa was perfect in every way, spotlessly clean, fully equipped, fantastic view, lovely pool & the dogs were hilarious! On our last day in Kefalonia we did not want it to end as we have had a fantastic two weeks staying the the villa Santolina with Angela and Malcolm who are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel like part of the family rather than guests. The villa is spotlessly clean and the gardens are beautiful. We had a great time and the weather was perfect with the evenings beautiful and relaxing. The tavernas which Angela and Malcolm recommended were very good our favourite being the Klimatis. We visited several villages all lovely in their own way but Assos came tops with us and we went back for a second visit. Everything has been perfect just wis it wasn't ending but hopefully we can come back in the future and renew our friendship with Angela and Malcolm. Not forgetting the three dogs Tosca Max and Hobo who were all friendly and well behaved. Thank you for making our visit to Kefalonia so memorable.

As with other reviews I can only say that the Villa was spotlessly clean and had everything we could want or need for our holiday.

The children loved the pool and Malcolm was always sure to make sure there was a wide selection of floats, balls etc. We also made full use of the table tennis and dart board on the lovely evening watching the sunset and sipping on cold drinks.

We arranged for Malcolm to pick us up from the airport and Angela arranged for our hire car to be delivered the next morning.

Malcolm and Angela's recomendations and advice were invaluable as we only had a week and made sure that we used our time to greatest advantage.

The perfect location, the perfect hosts

Dear Prospective Holidaymaker

Sittng at home on a cold, damp January day, my thoughts begin to wander (well, it beats working). In my mind I can't help turning the clock back five months or so to our 2008 family holiday at Villa Santolina. In a nutshell everything about it was brilliant - the location, the hospitality, the accommodation, the all-important weather ... you get the picture. Just glance at the photos of the villa online. They look fine but, believe me, the reality is far better, especially the view over Lourdas Bay. Suffice to say we wouldn't have changed a thing about our fortnight. At the risk of making them blush, we have to say that Angela and Malcolm were the perfect hosts. This warm and friendly couple made us truly feel part of the family, yet they have the knack and the nous to maintain a discreet distance if, on occasions, they sense that that is what is required or, indeed, what their visitors request.

I shan't offer any pointers re restaurants, car hire firms, places to visit, etc, etc. I'd simply urge you to direct any queries of that kind to Angela and Malcolm, trust to their local knowledge and go with their recommendations. You will not be disappointed.

Happy landings!

First Class

Review Submitted: December 23, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Villa, location and hosts are all excellent = the best villa we have stayed in over the last 12 years. Absolutely spotless with everything you would need for a perfect holiday, including the weather.

Malcolm collected us from the airport and gave us an early tour of the surrounding area and kindly recommended the better restaurants and supermarkets. The only hiccup was XL Airways going bust half way through our holidays. However, Angela and Malcolm could not have been more helpful and accommodating as we sorted out our journey home. Nothing was ever a problem!

A car is a necessity for exploring the island. Our hire car was arranged via Greekstones (following Angela's earlier recommendation) and delivered to the villa on our first morning and collected from the airport on the night of our departure.

The dogs added to our entertainment and the sunsets over Lourdas Bay coupled with the views from the terrace to Zakynthos were breathtaking.

We're hoping to return soon!

JULY IN

Blue Fox Bromley
Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We arrived at the villa following the owners' clear directions from the airport in less than 30 minutes to experience a warm welcome, not least from the friendly dogs! Our host gave us a tour of the local area in his car pointing out shops, restaurants, beach and so on. Everything was as described with all we needed for a family holiday in a clean bright modern villa with excellent views down the mountain across the bay to Zakynthos. It was very peaceful with just the noise of the crickets for company! A quiet road runs alongside the property but this was not at all busy and it is not on the airport flight path. The pool area is clean and well equipped with umbrellas loungers and games. The verandah is ideal for eating al fresco. Both bedrooms have their own balconies with canopies with stunning sea views. A barbecue area is also available. Our hosts who live adjacent on site were always willing to help with ideas for eating places and visits and made us feel part of their extended family. Bedding and towels were changed midweek.Plenty of books DVDs board games available if you wanted them.
There were no problems at all with anything in the villa.
We hired a car from Greekstones whose service was first class and would recommend needing a vehicle unless all you want to do is sit and read by the pool!
Visited Skala,Sami,Fiskardo,Argostoli,Lassi, Myrtos Beaches but didn't stop in Assos which was very crowded with limited parking. Don't miss seeing the Melissani cave lake.Lassi beach very busy but others not overcrowded. Preferred Trapezaki beach 10 mins drive from villa. Windy day at Myrtos with giant waves and red flag flying. All beaches were clean with blue flag awards.
Also worthwhile visiting ruined St George's castle, Robola winery and nearby church. The roads are not full of traffic but beware getting stuck behind slow lorries and goats crossing! Much of the scenery is similar around the whole island, roads narrow but generally not too hazardous!
We particularly liked Andromeda restaurant very near the villa and Klematis beach taverna. Eating in Argostoli main square relatively expensive but average and a bit noisy with lots of children playing in the square. Denis taverna at Trapezaki also OK.
Shopping for own provisions convenient and reasonably priced.
Our 19 and 17 year olds also enjoyed their stay immensely - an achievement in itself!
We have already recommended this property to several friends and would like to return ourselves one day.
