Holiday Idyll

Gordon, Sarah, Alastair and Wendy Middlesbrough, England
Review Submitted: July 21, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Our party of 4 stayed at the end of June beginning of July 2008 and the villa exceeded our expectations. The pool area was extremely private and with the beautiful gardens and sitting areas we could all pick our perfect spot to soak up the glorious sun. The view from the terrace was lovely and we spent many an evening watching the cruise ships sailing in the distance and then looking at the stars when the sun had gone down.

Everything that you could need was available including ice on tap from the American style fridge freezer for our sundowners! We spent a glorious, relaxing 2 weeks just chilling out.

Would highly recommend a day trip to Barcelona and closer to the villa the medieval viallges of Begur and Besalu which were both really pretty and gave a true flavour of Spain!

This was a well maintained, clean and beautiful villa which we will recommend to family and friends alike!

IT WAS GREAT!!!

Review Submitted: November 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The most important thing we can say about renting this very beautiful house is: IT WAS GREAT!!! Everything that you could need was available. The views from the terraces were great and the garden was perfectly private. We recommend to drive along the coast to the south. It was amazing! Hopefully we are able to go back once!
Owner's Response: Thank you Eric & Marianne for taking the time to write a review about your holiday experience.

We are delighted you found the villa beautiful and everything was "GREAT"! - Also that you enjoyed the views from the various terraces and the privacy of the garden. We are very fortunate not to be overlooked and this feature is frequently commented upon by many of our guests.

We do hope you will return and we look forward to welcoming you again sometime in the future

Fabulous fortnight

Sarah Bergson Reading
Review Submitted: November 8, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This is a fantastic villa with a beautiful, large and very private pool. We had a wonderful fortnight here with combinations of adult sons joining us at different points during our stay! The weather was fabulous every day and much time was spent enjoying the pool, lying in the shade reading, playing boules and topping up ice-cold water from the very impressive fridge (we are already measuring up at home to see if we can fit one in!). The house is extremely easy to be in and suited our family needs perfectly.
There is lots to do in the area and we spent several days exploring the less populated coves which often meant a walk through woods to get there. The snorkelling was great and we found some beautiful beaches at Aiguafreda (excellent restaurant up the lane away from the beach) and further north and along the coastal footpath,
The Gala-Dali house in Pubol is worth a visit and not far away at all.
All in all a thoroughly lovely holiday and we would highly recommend this villa to anyone who is looking for a bit of luxury and a very comfortable stay. Sue and Anthony could not have been more helpful and ready to answer the numerous questions we had to ask - very friendly and approachable.
Owner's Response: Thank you Sarah for your fabulous review. We are so pleased all members of your party enjoyed staying at villa Corela. It has been designed with that in mind - to provide accomodation/outdoor space and privacy for all guests irrespective of their age group.

It is good to hear that you took the opportunity of exploring some of the beautiful coastal paths many within short drives from the villa.

We are also glad you made use of the boules court - we are thinking of adding a badmington net for 2010 next to the bbq area. Thank you also for saying we were friendly - we try to be as personable as possible because we want you to have a fabulous holiday.

Villa Corella

Six travellers Esher, Surrey
Review Submitted: August 26, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The villa was in excellent condition and had a beautiful well maintained garden. The pool was great and there were lovely views from the terrace and both balconies.

The living space at lower ground level is open plan and is ideal for holiday living. The kitchen was very well equipped and the seating space, although small, was more than adequate for our needs. This area was only used for occasional TV viewing as most of the time were outside in the sun.

The two bedroom at upper ground floor level were both quite small and one in particular was quite tight for two people. However both of the associated ensuite bathrooms were a good size and were well equipped.

We enjoyed the separate barbecue area in the evenings and the views at night are great.

The drive is very steep and you need take a run at it to ensure you get to the top in a car.

Overall we had a great holiday and enjoyed the villa immensely.
Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you all found the villa in excellent condition and enjoyed the pool/views and garden areas so much. The very well equiped kitchen that you describe (thank you) has a new extra coffee machine - this is now in additon to the cafetiiere. We have tried to provide everything.

When we had the villa designed - it was primarily for an outdoor/holiday lifestyle. We wanted to provide accommodation for 6 ( family or friends) and for each of the 3 bedrooms to have their own private facilities. For this reason we decided to shave a little space of the upstairs bedroom to accommodate an en-suite bathroom with 2 wash basins and add an adjacent private balcony with views over the sea and hills. New for 2010 - this balcony will have an automatically controlled awning which we feel will be an added benefit as it is south facing. The twin bedded room downstairs will also have french doors instead of a window leading onto a private garden terrace - again new for 2010.

Yes the drive is quite exciting the first couple of times but it does help to provide the privacy of the pool area.

Thank you so much for writing and awarding us 5 out of 5 and we hope you will visit again

As Fantastic as Described

Having rented in Europe (Spain,France,Italy,Great Britain) each summer for 10 years (2 couples) we would rate the Villa Corela our #1 rental experience; lovely owners, clean, well-furnished, all amenities, great layout, beautiful pool as well as grounds, varied eating, relaxing areas, private, secure, etc.; a perfect spot for exploring the Costa Brava or the interior; area (including Barcelona and Girona) also rates as our favorite along with Provence; experience this rental opportunity-you won't be diappointed.
Owner's Response: Wow! What can we say! ? Thank you so much for your comments. We are delighted that you had a wonderful holiday at Villa Corela - and it proved to be as good as the description on the Holiday Rental site

At the villa we have many details of places to visit in Catalonia (including the Pyrenees) and as you say the villa is in a great location for visiting this beautiful area

Thanks again for taking the time in writing such a glowing review from such well-travelled guests

Perfect place for a much needed week in the sun

T & T London Surrey
Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had a wonderful week at Villa Corela relaxing by the pool by day and BBQing by night. The villa and gardens are very well maintained and have everything that you could possibly need. The agent that met us with the keys was very friendly and useful and the villa was clean. The villa is well situated for beaches, supermarkets and other activities, although we didn't do much as relaxing by the pool was so enjoyable. I highly recommend the villa and will certainly be looking to go again next year!
Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your great review - we are so pleased you had a relaxing break and were able to enjoy the pool and gardens. We also enjoy the views and privacy this area offers.

We hope to welcome you back to villa Corela another year
- it means a lot to us to have such positive feedback from our guests as we have tried to create a special holiday home

Barbecue paradise

Paulo from Brazil Sao Paulo, Brazil
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Excellent!! I could spend pages describing how fantastic the whole villa is, but I will highlight the great new barbecue place with a view to the sea, which was not there 2 years ago in my first visit. Definitely a great aquisition!! I would definitely recommend. Thanks
Owner's Response: How amazing to receive such compliments about the barbeque area from a Brazilian. We understand bbq's in Brazil are a very BIG affair so we are really happy that ours has come out so favourably! New for 2010 is a hammock in a shady part of the garden looking out to sea. We also know that hammocks are a must in Brazil. Hopefully this may entice you and your family to visit for a 3rd time.

We are delighted to welcome so many guests from different regions from around the world and to date have had visitors from

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Kerken, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Trinidad, United Kingdom and United States.

Thank you for writing your review

May at villa Corela

infinity Cheshire
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Keith and Pam, Cheshire 18/05/09

We have just returned from a wonderful break at this villa. We were delighted to arrive with the drive lights on, and to find that it had been left in an immaculate order. The essentials were in place, not least of all a bottle of wine and croissant for breakfast the next morning.
The hillside position gave excellent views, including an aspect of the sea.The privacy provided by the lovely garden, meant total seclusion for almost all sunbathing areas and the pool. We enjoyed dining outside, on the different terraces.
We found the area full of picturesque beaches, coves and walks, together with charming villages. San Antoni beach is very near, and we enjoyed particularly San Pol. Sa Tuna near Begur is tiny and nice for lunch. Pals is a medieval town, well worth a visit.
We hope to visit again
Owner's Response: Thanks Pam & Keith for your great review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay so much at villa Corela and that you took the opportunity to visit some of the beautiful local areas. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Villa Corela

Review Submitted: November 29, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We stayed in the delightful Villa Corela and had a wonderful time. Everywhere was very clean & beautifully presented and the owners were extremely helpful before booking.
We were training for a half marathon at the time & there are some great runs to Sant Antoni beach & back whilst the others were enjoying lazying around by the pool - we'll do that next time!
We visited Palamos at night & enjoyed some of the tapas bars in the old part of the town & found some great coastal walks between Castell along to Platja D 'Aro.
We certainly hope to return at some time. What a great location with fantastic views.
Highly Recommended!!!
Owner's Response: Hi David and party

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. It's great to receive such fantastic feed back. We've also enjoyed some of those amazing coastal walks but not the jogging to the beach!

We look forward to welcoming you back to villa Corela some time in the future

Villa Corela

DebbieR Stockton on Tees, UK
Review Submitted: August 6, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed in this lovely villa in July 2008. It is in a beautiful part of the Costa Brava just 10 minutes drive from the beach at San Antoni de Calonge. The villa itself is wonderful with plenty of balconies, terraces and seating for you to be able to relax and look out right across the area. The beds were really comfortable and everything was spotless. There was a welcoming bottle of wine for us when we arrived, along with tea, coffee and milk. The pool was fantastic and not overlooked at all and there were pool toys for the kids to play with. Don't pack your beach towels as they are provided at the villa along with lovely fluffy bath towels. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, hob, microwave dishwasher etc, even down to teatowels, clingfilm salt, pepper etc. There are CDs and a docking station for an I-pod which we found useful, also a good selection of paperbacks to read whilst lounging around the pool.
The owners, Sue and Anthony, kept us well informed when we booked and their agent Jim met us in Calonge to show us to the villa and give us information about the surrounding area which was very useful. There are supermarkets in the town itself about 15 minutes walking distance away but it's an uphill walk coming back so I'd definitely recommend driving to pick up your shopping. The Suma supermarket also sells UK newspapers. There are other larger supermarkets a few minutes drive away at San Antoni along with a good selection of restaurants. We wouldn't recommend the Hong Kong restaurant on the main street unless you like you fried rice to be made with paella rice. The portions were tiny too-no good for starving teenagers!
The villa itself is around 45 minutes drive from Gerona airport and Calonge is a good starting point to explore that part of the coastline. The coastal drive to Tossa de Mar is spectacular but only do it if you are not scared of heights and confident with driving on the wrong side of the road on a cliff edge! We also crossed over to Perpignan for a day in France which is around 2 hours drive away along the toll roads(7 to 8 Euros).
I'd recommend this villa to anyone who wants a little bit of luxury on their holiday. It's by far the nicest villa we've stayed in, peaceful, relaxing and there was nothing we could have added to it to make it any better than it was, except perhaps more spending money-food costed more due to the poor exchange rates.
Thanks Sue and Anthony, we're hoping to come back next year. Debbie, Tim and family.
Owner's Response: Thanks Debbie for writing such a glowing review. We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay so much and took advantage of relaxing on the balconies and terraces.

It great that you describe villa corela as a villa "with a little bit of luxury".

We also want to take the opportunity to thank all our guests who have remarked on the privacy of the pool. This was a major decision when planning the position of the pool - to create privacy and take advantage of the sea views and hills.

Debbie and Tim we look forward welcoming you all back in 2009

With thanks
Sue & Anthony
