Great place to see Rome from

We had a cosy but brilliant holiday here with 6 adults and 1 child. The location does not get much better than here, so close to walk to all the top tourist attractions and restaurants. Since it is in a back street it is nice and quiet too.

The description was slightly miss leading since it only has one bedroom not two, the living room doubles as the second bedroom. The bedroom is large enough to sleep 5 people (2 double beds and one single bed on the floor) with another double bed in the living room. The owner was friendly, accommodating and kept the place nice and clean.

Access to the apartment is up two flights of narrow winding stairs, so you will need to be comfortable with a small climb. It would be a great place for a families, even up to three or four kids. It was a short ride on bus no. 40 from Termini Station to near Ponte St. Angelo. Very close to the Vatican, only a short walk across the river.

Wonderful Trip- Great Accomodations

Review Submitted: November 11, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
The apartment is as advertised. We arrived late at night (11:30pm or so) from our flight and were welcomed by the owner, Luigi. He was very accommodating, explaining to us about the neighborhood and the workings of the apartment. Later on in the trip when we needed help booking an early morning taxi to take us to the airport he was very helpful, calling the taxi company, giving precise directions to the apartment and letting us know that the price quoted was reasonable.
The apartment was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we would need (espresso maker, pots and pans, etc.) We cooked dinner ourselves several nights. There are two grocery stores nearby where you can get all the fixings to make a delicious Italian dinner. There are also several good restaurants nearby. Taverna was one of our favorites. If you walk around the neighborhood at night you will see which restaurants are full of locals, which will help you figure out which ones to go to.
The apartment is well situated for seeing the sites and walking around the city. Our first day we walked from the apartment to Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiore, the Pantheon, the Forum/Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps, then back to the apartment. It was a full day, but all of these sites are within walking distance of the apartment. In the opposite direction is the Vatican City, with Saint Peter’s being less than 1 mile away and the Vatican museums a bit further (probably 1.3 miles or so). Overall it’s a great location to see the sites from.
Two things must be mentioned. First, although there is a washing machine there is no dryer. This is more common in Europe, and the apartment has a clothes drying rack. For us, it was no problem to hang our clothes to dry. When in Rome, right? Secondly, the apartment is two rooms (one with two king beds and one with one king bed), plus the kitchen/dining area and bathroom. For my family, this is fine since we are used to sharing rooms when traveling. If you are traveling with your family, it will work fine since the bedroom is spacious and there is enough room to put your luggage and unpack and still feel like you have space.
I would rent the apartment again and recommend to a friend. In all it was a great value given all the amenities and the location of the apartment.

Great Location, great host

I gave this a place a four because of the location and the host, Luigi. It is in an amazing location where everything is close by and walking distance. That is from the Vatican to the Forum, to Piazza Navona,to the Castle of Angelo, to the Spanish Steps. There are literally a hundred restaurants at your door step, all very good. You can also find small boutiques, coffee shops and a super market very close by. Just an amazing location for exploring Rome. As a plus, Luigi, is very kind, helpful and present to make sure he helps in almost anyway. I say almost because the Internet went out while we were there and stayed down for several days. We actually had to leave because it did not work.

Here is what I didn't like about the place and kept it from getting a five. It is small for American standards. The kitchen is impossible to maneuver for more than one person and the bathroom was next to the kitchen, which was not so nice when someone needed to use the bathroom. Also, the advertisement claims that is 2 bedroom. He has a fold out bed in the living room, which then gives you no place to lounge around. Finally, the washing machine barely holds one set of clothes and there is no dryer and since the place is so small, if you have your clothes hanging on the dryer rack all day trying to dry in an apartment then you even have less space.

To sum it up, we were very pleased about the location, the best, and the host was very nice and helpful. It's just that the place was very small, smaller than expected, with no breathing room, and the Internet went out and although Luigi called to get it fixed, in the end we had to move on to another place because I'm working while here in Europe.
Owner's Response: Generally i don't like to reply to reviews but in this case due to the genuine kindness of this renters i decided to do it.

I know that for travellers to rent an apartment abroad sometimes means to be surprised by new styles and habit of living, and i know that there are big differences between american and italian (roman) houses especially in the medieval part of the historical center.

This apartment has the classical size of the medieval apartments built in this part of the city: to have an idea consider that during those times the Sant 'Angelo bridge, very close to apartment, was the only bridge to cross the river (called Tiber) to get to Vatican so every one would like to own a house in this area creating a very chaotic but charming urbanistic style.

In particular in the building where the apartment is located there is only one apartment per floor and this is pretty rare to find and it creates a nice privacy for living.

About internet i can only say that i pay for the broadband connection and offer it to renters but (not depending from me) sometimes (once in 1-2 year) there can be some lack of connection for technical reasons, for this i can't do anything.

I'm very sorry that this renters had to face with this problem.

Very good experience staying here

My wife and 2 young adult children stayed for 3 nights in the apartment and were very pleased. The owner was very pleasant and easy to deal with in terms of advance arrangements. The apartment was clean and functional--not luxious but more than adequate for us. The interior bedroom with 2 double beds is very large; closet space is adequate. The kitchen and bathroom were very good for what we needed. The location is superb--very close and easy walking to bus, good restaurants, the Vatican and other tourist areas. On the day we left Rome, it was an easy, quick bus ride to the train station. The apartment is a little difficult to find because it is on a very small street, but that is the only negative and not a problem after you've located the apartment. We would definitely stay there again.

A week in Rome

Perfect location central to just about everything.
The apartment worked well for my large family it had everything we needed to make our stay in Rome perfect.
It was fully self contained, well maintained, and clean. There were local shops nearly just outside our door for all the supplies you could need. Walking distance to the Vatican, Piazza Navona and lots more.
The owner, Luigi was absolutly wonderful and extremely helpful. Even looked into where we could park our vehicle for the week while in Rome before we arrived. This made it so much easier for us. He then assist us with the vehicle drop off once we unloaded and got us all settled. Luigi was the perfect host answering all our questions before arrival and during our stay.
We would definatly recommend this property to anyone even to someone like us - a family with 5 children.
The apartment was so close to everything it made our week in Rome so enjoyable and by day 3 of our 7 days we almost felt like locals. We all loved our stay and will hopefully one day return.
Thankyou very much Luigi for a great experience in Rome when we return we will be sure to look you up.
If ever in Sydney Luigi we would love to return the hospitality!

A Week in Rome

Tennesseans Tennessee, USA
Review Submitted: June 5, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
The owner, Luigi, was very attentive to all emails and questions before we arrived. He accepted MasterCard. Once in Rome, he met us at the apartment (he lives above) and gave instructions on all appliances. He made up an additional bed and gave us directions to nearest ATM and grocery store (both one block away).

The apartment has been updated and everything worked very well. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Washing machine is small, but very useful. Closets had hangers and drying rack (no dryer). The apartment and linens were very clean. There is no living room in this apartment, so we sat in kitchen or watched tv in one bedroom (BBC World only English channel).

The location is convenient to walking all around the city, as we never took a bus or taxi. There are lots of restaurants close by. Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori
are a ten-minute walk and great for people-watching, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Luigi called a taxi service for us for our (very early) trip to the airport when we left. He was extremely helpful and speaks English very well.
