Beautiful gite, beautiful views, lovely pool.

What a fabulous holiday!

The gite is extremely well kept, very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need - including a very well-equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and cooker, and a laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier. The living room and bedrooms were all very comfortable, and everything was immaculately clean.

Su and Tim were very welcoming and helpful, and always available but at the same time maintaining a discreet presence - we never felt as though they were keeping an eye on us, just around if we needed them.

The lovely swimming pool, exclusively for the use of guests, commands superb south-facing views over the Burgundy countryside. During our stay the water was always at a perfect temperature and, like the gite, was immaculately clean.

There are plenty of interesting places to visit close by - Langres, Chatillon-sur-Seine, Flavigny, Dijon - Su and Tim provide lots of information and leaflets in the gite on local places of interest. Driving in the area is immensely pleasurable due to the lack of other vehicles on the roads.

But the gite was so pretty and comfortable, and the views so beautiful, that we were equally happy just relaxing and enjoying the place.

We didn't take our dog, leaving her instead in kennels, but Su and Tim welcome dogs and I know she would have enjoyed playing with their lovely little dog Ruby who helped to "scratch my itch" when I was missing my own dog. It was lovely to have her welcome us when we came out of the gite in the mornings.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Chat Dodu to anyone. We're hoping to return as soon as we can.
Owner's Response: We like to think that we are one of the best and it is very gratifying when others think likewise. But in a way it is the adverse comments that are the most valuable as they throw up things of which we are not necessarily aware and which need to be adressed quickly.

Beautiful location in rural Burgundy. Great accommodation with everything you require on site and an excellent pool in the grounds. Supermarkets near by with some excellent restaurants only a short drive away. We experienced great weather in August. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.

Ideal for a 'get away from it all' holiday

A good gite in a lovely remote rural location with beautiful open views. The superb pool was one of two highlights for our children, the other being the owner's little dog - Ruby - she was a delight! Tim and Sue were friendly and very welcoming hosts. This is a very good choice of holiday if you want to escape for a week away from it all. Thank-you.

Perfect hideaway

We spent a wonderful week here. The owners are incredilbly helpful hosts and the gite is furnished and equipped to a high standard. The pool is wonderful and the beautiful countryside offers the peace and escape that we wanted and found. We would recommend it unreservedly and though we have more places to see and would not usually go to the same place twice we would be very very tempted to return. a perfect location for a holiday away from it all.

A week in May

Review Submitted: July 26, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My wife and I (and my 22 year old daughter for a briefer while) stayed here for a week in May 2009. We had mixed weather, some wonderful summer and some cooler and rainy.
The best part is that the Gite is perched on the top of a hill overlooking beautiful, peaceful Burgundian countryside. The area is very interesting and pleasant for walking and bicyclling. The villages are mostly very small and show the vestiges of a past agricultural way of life. In Colmier le Bas, many of the inhabitants are English or Dutch.
The Gite itself is pleasnt enough but one really wants to spend time out of doors. The pool is good but it was marginally warm enough when we were there.
The genial hosts, Sue and Tim, are helpful and hospitable.
This is a quiet bit of French countryside, removed from main tourist areas yet close to Dijon and much else. We enjoyed ourselves.

Absolutely wonderful!

A wonderfully equipped gite with a lovely pool. Everything you could possibly want.

Su and Tim are ideal hosts, always helpful and keen to ensure that your stay will be as good as it can be.

It's set in a completely unspoiled and very attractive part of France which I think is pretty well unknown in England. There are lots of places to visit - Chatillon-sur Seine, Langres, Abbe du Val des Choues Dijon and Fontenay (unmissable).

The best thing, however, is the quality of the gite and its management. This was the key factor in what was for us a truly memorable holiday, the best of the eight gite holidays we have had in France.
