Incredible Villa close to the best Food and Wine

Review Submitted: October 19, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I would probably never be able to put in words the amazing piemotese vacation we had. Adoring its wines, cuisine, truffles and charm, we are traveling quite often to this beautiful region. Amazingly, it seems we have finally found the missing link - our "pied a terre" in the region. Clay & Tamar, the owners of a fascinating Villa near Bonvicino, and the Barolo region are an amazing couple. They were so nice as hosts, smiling, caring, well introduced, we felt like coming back home after our long journeys out in the vineyards and villages. the rooms are great, comfortable, spacious, the pool, the pizza oven, the silence, the discussions, did i already say home? I am already planning our visit next year in Piemonte, we will probably visit other wineries, search for new restaurants, but we already have our home.

luxury rooms in the middle of beautiful Piemonte

Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed at San Lorenzo last week of august. That week we had no neighbors in other rooms so we had the whole compound for us. Everything was really OK, the selfcoocking kitchen, large flatscreen TV, internet, well equiped bathroom and bedrooms, fully equiped laundry.
This is a great place, to just relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. Nearby Dogliani is a typical Italian town, not yet spoiled by mass tourism, and offering all modern comfort. The best wine region of Italy (with the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines, and the capital of the white truffel) are only a few km away. Not a surprise that slow food was invented here
If you are looking for a charming, relaxing stay, looking for good food and start your local search for italy's best wines. The region is also a challenge for sportive mountainbikers and cyclists.
A car is required to get around
Closeby Turin is worth a visit, and you're only one hour drive from the spectacular ligurian cost.

Where familiarity does not breed contempt

The key word I would use to describe our stay is 'Familiarity'. Already, once you arrive, you feel that you are at home (and not just a holiday rental). Everything you need is provided for in more than just a minimal level. Clay and Tamar know the area so well that you start to understand the pace of life, and what makes this area tick. They showed us great places to eat and introduced us to interesting people. By the end of the stay, we felt like it was our home. This is when you want to return because it feels so familiar.

I have just spent a week here with my family and do not hesitate to recommend this beautiful hilltop villa. The views are stunning, the accommodation luxurious and spacious, the hospitality warm and friendly, the food and wine from the region delicious! Not only is it a great location for going out to discover the Piedmont region, heading to the mountains or to the coast, but also for staying in, unwinding and taking it easy. Don't hesitate to ask the owners for recommendations on where to eat and what to drink, they know the region and the people and can ensure you taste the best of Piedmont.

Great food, great wine, great accommodations, great hosts; all added up to a great week in Italy. Our hosts were knowledgeable and gracious, guiding us to the best hill towns, vineyards and restaurants in the area. And at the end of every excursion we returned to our luxurious and comfortable rooms in Bonvicino. After watching the sun set over the vineyards on the opposite ridge, fantastic dinners were only a short drive away. Highly recommended in every way.

We loved staying in this amazing Italian villa! each one of the rooms is different and has it's own charm... Two of the rooms are completely independent and have their own entrance and exterior garden. They are both perfect as a couples get away place. The other two rooms have a joined living room kitchen terrace and are perfect for families or two couples enjoying a vacation together. We enjoyed going to the market in bonvicino every morning and cooking great meals with local ingredients, eating and just resting in the villa and the surroundings. The pool is stunning and the hayloft that was recently renovated as a relaxation and reading space is a real extra treat!

I absolutely loved this place!

This charming villa, located in one of Italy's most celebrated wine regions, was a marvelous discovery. Not only were the views of the Italian countryside stunning and the service impeccable, but I was delighted to find, in the surrounding towns, some of the best places to experience the rustic cuisine for which Italy is famous. The owners were extremely knowlegeable and very helpful in this regard. The accomodations, which included a pool, were beautiful and relaxing. I loved being able to swim in such serene and natural surroundings. Out of all the places I stayed during my trip through Italy, this was far and away the best.

My husband, 5-month old baby, and I recently stayed at this fabulous place and absolutely LOVED it! The view is spectacular, and encompasses the Italian Alps as well as amazing hillside villages and deciduous forests. I was astounded at the bountiful wildlife here; I am a biologist in California and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing diversity of both bird and mammal life! We visited wineries in the region and sampled the world-famous Barolo and Dolcetto wines of the region, as well as some local cheeses and dark chocolate. The house far surpassed our expectations - it was historically quaint, yet had completely remodeled amenities like a stainless steel kitchen and giant bathtub in an immaculate bathroom. We enjoyed espressos on the balcony while looking at the terrific view and listening to the birds. We were in paradise and truly cannot recommend this place enough.
