Family reunion July 2008
Review Submitted: February 4, 2009
Date of Stay: July 2008
We chose the perfect place for our taste of France. We set out to find accomodation for our overseas guests from Australia, America and England. We are all of different ages but we needed somewhere to spend our holiday where we could all stay together in an informal setting. Clistivan met all our criteria. Beautifully situated in rural France, the rooms are clean and spacious and with all mod cons of every description.
The modern decor did not detract from the rustic charm of the building and our communal meal times were an absolute delight.
All the facilities and the local places of interest were exactly as desribed and we were never at a loss for something to do or somewhere to discover. Our hosts Lyndsey and Andrew and their son Charlie (who all speak excellent French)were exemplary hosts and they had a wealth of knowledge and infiormation which they were all too pleased to share.
The nearest town of Baud offered all things one would expect of a French town, partcularly a well stocked and inexpensive supermarket. We very much enjoyed a couple of evenings at a tiny restaurant named Le Citron Vert where we enjoyed eating the local gallettes and drinking the local cidre.
The road system in France allows easy and enjoyable driving and major towns are readily reachable from Clistivan. Some of these journeys took us to places such as Josselin, Vannes, Carnac and many others , enjoying the wonderful French countryside on the way. Information for market days for the towns and villages was provided by our hosts and we planned some of our days out accordingly.
If you are wanting "a get away from it all holiday" then a stay at this beautiful long house would be very difficult to match.
