Beautiful holiday cottage in Brittany

Clairy Preston
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was our first visit to Brittany and after a wonderful holiday at Clistivan don't think it will be our last.

The cottage has been converted beautifully and was deceptively spacious yet cosy and extremely well appointed with absolutely everything we needed. The front garden with the swings, enclosed garden at the back and numerous toys in the cottage were perfect for our 3 year old. Lyndsey and Andrew were extremely friendly and welcoming and provided lots of helpful information about the local area.

The cottage is in a very peaceful location 10 minutes walk away from the nearest village which has the all-important local boulangerie and 10 minutes away by car from Baud which has 2 big supermarkets. It is also within easy reach by car of the larger towns of Josselin, Auray and Vannes. These are all very attractive and worth a visit, especially Vannes on market day. Also, "Le Gavroche" restaurant in Vannes is excellent - we had a gorgeous, very reasonably priced lunch and would have gone back another day if we'd been staying longer! Other places providing a good day out are the Animal Park at Branfere and numerous beaches and the area also has lots of other attractions which we didn't have chance to visit but which looked good.

We would certainly recommend Clistivan to anyone as it is perfect for a relaxing holiday but is also very well located for those wanting to get out and about and explore the area.

Wonderful !! Clistivan is the perfect place for peace and chilling out time. Have you ever seen the pictures & read the description in the brochures & on the net and arrive at your holiday destination only the be disappointed? Well, you won’t be dissapointed with your stay here. The cottage is just perfect. Everything you could need or want and more – it’s just like home from home. For us the quality and thoughtfulness in making this such a comfortable cottage speaks volumes about the kind of folk Andrew & Lyndsey are. We have had such a lovely time. Thank you both.

Two glorious weeks in June

Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
In returning to Clistivan for a second year, in the same two weeks of June, we thought we might have been tempting fate but we were rewarded with wonderful weather yet again. This is the time to come - few tourists, uncrowded beaches and peace!

This is rural France at its best, with many excellent walks in the area. However, you are no distance from the Gulf of Morbihan and lovely old towns like Vannes and Auray.

Once again we were impressed by the modern facilities in this sypathetically renovated old longere- all the comforts of home, transferred to a rural setting from yesteryear.

Everything is kept in immaculate order by Lydsey and Andrew, who are on hand to offer help or advice if required and gave us a friendly welcome.

A bonus this year was the bakery/shop now reestablished in La Chapelle Neuve - fresh baguettes and croissants for breakfast in a sunny garden with a great view is what a holiday in France is all about.

A very warm welcome from Andrew and Lyndsey, spotlessly clean and cosy gite, eating fresh local produce and drinking Kir Royale whilst being serenaded by Charlie (excellent guitarist), lovely country peaceful walks, easy access to many attractions and beautiful beaches, bbqs in our very own private garden and 24 hour tourist information from our lovely hosts - we want to be there now it was a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended than you so much again Andrew, Lyndsey and Charlie, we had a terrific time.

A Lucky Find!

Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Everything about this wonderful place is just as you would wish it to be. Chêne is at one end of a beautifully converted longère, imaginatively retaining it's original character, set in tranquil countryside within easy reach of the Morhiban coast (loved the cycle ride around Ile aux Moines). Possibly the best-equipped holiday cottage I have stayed at to date. Both Lyndsey and Andrew made us feel truly welcome and did everything possible to make our stay just perfect! Next time we'll bring the Citroën H-Van!

Clistivan

Clistivan is a great place! The accomodation is very well finished and is of a very high standard. We really like the peace and quiet and our daughers really liked the large lawn at the front and the swing. Nearby Baud has everything you could reasonably need - the swimming pool is a bit past its best though. The owners are very helpful and friendly and add to the experiece.
The only very minor complaint would be the very noisy dishwasher....

Clistivan August 08

Clistivan is situated in a very peaceful, picturesque location ideal for families, as the tiny track from the village has very little traffic.
The house is beautifully decorated and furnished with everything to make it home from home, even toys for the children.
Andrew and Lyndsey made us very welcome, answering questions about the locality, inviting us for drinks and even lending us Charlie's bike for our 6 year old.
I can thoroughly recommend the property to other families or couples.

Family reunion July 2008

Rob and Sue Southsea England
Review Submitted: February 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We chose the perfect place for our taste of France. We set out to find accomodation for our overseas guests from Australia, America and England. We are all of different ages but we needed somewhere to spend our holiday where we could all stay together in an informal setting. Clistivan met all our criteria. Beautifully situated in rural France, the rooms are clean and spacious and with all mod cons of every description.
The modern decor did not detract from the rustic charm of the building and our communal meal times were an absolute delight.
All the facilities and the local places of interest were exactly as desribed and we were never at a loss for something to do or somewhere to discover. Our hosts Lyndsey and Andrew and their son Charlie (who all speak excellent French)were exemplary hosts and they had a wealth of knowledge and infiormation which they were all too pleased to share.
The nearest town of Baud offered all things one would expect of a French town, partcularly a well stocked and inexpensive supermarket. We very much enjoyed a couple of evenings at a tiny restaurant named Le Citron Vert where we enjoyed eating the local gallettes and drinking the local cidre.
The road system in France allows easy and enjoyable driving and major towns are readily reachable from Clistivan. Some of these journeys took us to places such as Josselin, Vannes, Carnac and many others , enjoying the wonderful French countryside on the way. Information for market days for the towns and villages was provided by our hosts and we planned some of our days out accordingly.
If you are wanting "a get away from it all holiday" then a stay at this beautiful long house would be very difficult to match.

Ideal Relaxing Holiday

Review Submitted: March 15, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
An excellent holiday in all respects.Location is ideal for a relaxing break in the countryside but there are plenty of attractions nearby, to suit all tastes.
The property is very well maintained & attractive with lots of modern facilities & space.
Lyndsey & Andrew are very hospitable & helpful.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this gite to friends.
I particularly enjoyed the ancient history of the area & loved trailing around the monoliths of Carnac.
Seeing Red Squirrels & collecting big fat chestnuts to roast during our Autumn stay were other highlights.
