A beautiful property in a wonderful location. Both were beyond my expectation. [Les Fontaines] - My days here have been marvelise and every thing gorjuse and very comfortable and the dog down the street is lovely [Elizabeth Hallgreen, age 8] - We have had a wonderful relaxing stay in your villa. The facilities and furnishing are both beautiful and excellent throughout. We will be back soon. [The Caldwells]. Great stay, great people, great environment. Not to be missed! [J & L Parker].

December holiday in Umbria

We spent the December holidays at La Roccia and it was an experience we'll remember for a very long time:
The owners are the most hospitable people you can hope to meet anywhere in the world, and they really made our stay in Umbria memorable.
The villa was was well furnished, in a real Umbrian style, firewood was available in abundance, and we really enjoyed exploring the area as far as Norcia and Perugia.
The staff living on the property was just as helpful, and really tried to make our stay enjoyable.
We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and spending long winter evenings in front of the fire, reading and playing games.
I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anybody, any time of the year.

Perfect Umbrian Paradise

We have recently returned from a two week break at Casa De La Roccia at Pianciano and I have to sincerely say that this was one of the best holidays that we have ever had
( and we have had a few in our time!). We were slightly apprehensive about what our 18 year old daughter and her boyfriend would make of being in a peaceful setting in the beautiful Umbrian countryside versus sand, sea, watersports and clubs, but they absolutely loved it !
The house itself was beautiful and very well equipped, the terrace was lovely, shaded by beautiful vines. The views from every angle at Pianciano are breathtaking and an enduring memory, I will always remember lounging by the lovely pool staring lazily accross the valley at the family Palazzo thinking " It really doesn't get any better than this".

There are three fairly local restaurants that are all good and remarkably reasonable, we spent less than expected whilst in Umbria which I was quite suprised about. There is an abundance of fresh local produce i.e. pasta truffles etc available from nearby shops, a supermarket 5km away, fresh eggs and vegetables available on a 'help yourself' basis from Pianciano, so it was great to cook a few meals ourselves and eat on the wonderful terrace. There is also a large communal room with a table tennis table which was great and we had lots of tournaments, suprisingly, despite there being two other families in the other two properties, we never really seemed to cross paths and it was even rare that we were all at the swimming pool at the same time.

The hosts Francesco and Claudia and their caretakers Eva and Aziz were all charming and very helpful and friendly, even their pets were lovely !.

I would not hesitate in recommending this place and intend to return for another chill out next year.

Loved everything. So cosy accomodations, helpful and lovely hosts, loved to chat with them having a bottle of a wonderful local wine (Rosso di Montefalco). It is really a paradise. If you want to experience the atmosphere of the truly italian countryside, that is the place to go! Great base for daytrips around the beautiful Umbria. Also close to the traditional region of Marche. Cuoca Maria's splendid dinner is a must for lovers os regional food. Will definitely return.

La Roccia, Pianciano, Umbria

this is just a very quick note to thank you for the gracious hospitality
extended to us at beautiful Pianciano, When we arrived there, we could
not believe we were not in some kind of dream or hypnotic state !!!
Everything in, and around, the house was so beautifully, tastefully, and
thoughtfully arranged. As we walked from room to room we kept
discovering one lovely detail after another.
We spend many hours sitting on the terrace reading, resting, and gazing
over the valley, taking in the gentle greens of the olive orchards,
listening to the bells of Silvignano, watching the changing light as the
sun rose and then the shadows lengthened into evening, bathing the
hillsides and ancient buildings in the glow as twilight fell.

Francesco was helpful beyond the call of duty when we arrived, rather
travel-weary. and of course Aziz and Eva were always cheerfully eager to
assist us if we needed anything. But mostly we just settled in to our
private routine, which included long hours of sleep. We did enjoy taking
the busy chickens our food scraps. The dinner prepared by Maria was a
treat, and we had fun cooking for ourselves with the abundance of
available ingredients.

We spent one day hiking near Casteluccio, which was incredible....The
hang glider hovering a thousand miles (as it seemed) over the vast
valley was thrilling!!!... And we did some sightseeing (Montefalco,
Spoletto) ---- but as I indicated, also were luxuriously lazy.
Our stay was simply unforgettable

Italian Paradise

Il Pianciano was everything we had hoped for and more!

We loved the beautiful countryside, the comfortable house and our wonderful, helpful hosts (we lost our luggage for 4 days and could not have got it back so easily without them). The surrounding area was idyllic to show our four children the surroundnig olive trees, the woods, wild boar!, canoeing, to feeding the chickens and playing ping pong. It was also a good base to make day trips. Thank you from Australia .
