What a special holiday we've just had...

SuzD Dorset, UK
Review Submitted: August 24, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We have just returned after staying in the Stone House for two weeks. We had a wonderful time. The house is immaculate and nicely furnished: thought has gone into each room and it has a homely feel to it. We had everything we possibly needed and fabulous views to top it off.

Our children (5) and (2) thoroughly enjoyed the pool and having a beautiful, safe and secure garden to play in.

Peter and Jenny were incredibly kind, fun yet professional. Our children became very fond of them. Infact our son is asking where they are!

I would definitely recommend the house. It is in a good location to visit the local area and lovely to return to a tranquil setting.

Our Holiday to rural france

Emrob Bedfordshire
Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just enjoyed a very relaxing break in Rural France with our hosts Peter and Jenny.

Stone House was very well equipped and furnished to a high standard very clean and tidy and beds made up for our arrival. The area was very peacefull and relaxing, the children enjoyed the pool swimming every day the pool was kept very clean and was secure when not in use.

You were in easy reach of the Normandy landing beaches and the bayeaux tapestry. Or just enjoy the sleepy towns and villages and experience one of the local markets.

The view from stone cottage was beautifull as a family we could highly recommend La Hallotiere for a holiday.

Wonderful stay in Normandy

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks staying in Stone House. The property is set in the middle of beautiful rolling countryside and is extremely peaceful. There are 3 properties on site and each has its own private garden with share of a fabulous pool. The gite was extremely well equipped - we have an 11 month old girl and she settled in straight away. Peter and Jenny were great hosts and every need was catered for. We would highly recommend a holiday here and are already looking to book our next trip! Katy, Grant and Lottie.

This property (and the owners) are perfect. The location is tranquil and picturesque and excellent for exploring the fabulous countryside. The property itself is very well equipped and if there was something missing, you can guarantee that Peter and Jenny would be on the case immediately, they couldn't have been more helpful. We can't recommend it enough.

We live in the U.S.A. but we have traveled extensively throughout Britain, France and Germany renting holiday accommodations (cottages and apartments) all the while. La Hallotière was one of the nicest of all the places we have stayed and we still have fond memories of it. Our cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped. We especially appreciated the huge bathroom and power shower. You could not have a better host and hostess than Peter and Jenny. The setting is in a rural area with lovely countryside and peace and quiet. You will need a car while you visit, but the property is centrally located in Normandy. For example, from La Hallotière it was easy to visit Mont-St-Michel, Bayeux, and the D-day beaches.

A Wonderful Holiday

Dorset Family Southern England
Review Submitted: October 17, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We, my husband, teenage son, pre-teen daughter and I,stayed at the Stone House for a week during the Summer of 2008 and how we wished it could have been longer.

We arrived at La Hallotiere and thought we had gone to heaven it was beautiful. The views were stunning (and coming from Dorset we're used to our views) the grounds were ideal to relax in, plenty of room for football, cricket etc. and the pool was very well maintained and provided hours of enjoyment. The gites are spaced perfectly to give each occupant maximum privacy.

The Stone House was spotless, extremely well equipped and very comfortable.

Peter & Jenny were perfect hosts always there if you needed them otherwise very discreet, the warm scones, jam and cider were most welcome when we arrived.

This was our first visit to France and we fell in love with the area. The traffic free roads, the well maintained verges and hedgerows and just the general slower pace of life.

There is so much to do locally and further afield, a week is definetly not long enough, as you really want to spend time at La Hallotiere to relax and enjoy as well as sight-seeing

We have recommmended La Hallotiere to all of our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who will listen! and will continue to do so.

Peace and Tranquillity in the Normandy Countryside

Shropshire Lad Shrewsbury
Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
When we first arrived at La Hallotiere we were struck by the superb layout of the site. Although there are three gites, they are set well apart and all have their own space for sun bathing or barbeques. Our gite, The Stonehouse, was absolutely spotless and was extremely comfortable and well equipped. No effort had been spared by the owners, Peter and Jenny, in making guests feel welcome. Peter and Jenny seem to have struck the perfect balance in running La Hallotiere, always available if you need them but without ever being intrusive.
La Hallotiere is perfect for all types of holiday. For those wishing to merely relax, chill out with a bottle of local wine (or two) and enjoy the seemingly choreographed movements of the cows in the field on the other side of the valley. For the slightly more adventurous traveller, visits to Mont Saint Michel and the walled town of Saint Malo are a must. Also the zoo at Champrepus is well worth a visit. A little further afield are the Normandy beaches and the tapestry at Bayeux.
There are too many places in this area of France to see in one visit. So adapt to the local pace of life, slow down and relax, you can always come back again. We will be visiting again in 2009.
We would highly recommend La Hallotiere to all, young or old, as the perfect base for holidays in this part of France.
La Hallotiere is easily accessible from Cherbourg, it took less than 2 hours to drive the 100 miles on almost empty French roads. That, in itself, was a wonderful experience.

La Hallotierre

Review Submitted: October 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I stay in the gite with my wife and young daughter for a week. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the property and it was fully equiped to cater for all our needs. The expansive gardens were very well kept and excellent for young children to run around. The views were also lovely and it in such a tranquil setting. Our daughter loved seeing the chickens and the cows in the adjoining fields. It is also a great base for exploring the surrounding area where there is so much to do and see. Atttractions include a local zoo, Bayeau, Mont St Michel, St Malo and much more. We had a lovely relaxing time and Peter & Jenny were extreemly helpful and friendly. I would recommend this property to friends and I hope to return again.

Our Fifth Visit...

Pete & Di Olney
Review Submitted: October 6, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
This was about the fifth time we have stayed at La Hallotiere which indicates how much we love it there. In fact, it inspired us to buy our own little house not far away so, sadly, it might have been the last stay as well ;-)

We have stayed in many B&Bs and Gites around France and LH would get our Most Highly Recommended award. Quiet spot, lovely views, well appointed accommodation, charming hosts, pool to cool off in - in fact its hard to imagine what Peter & Jenny could do to make it better apart from giving it to us...
