Sheep's Head Delight

Rory from Mass. Milton MA, USA
Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
This home was everything we hoped for and more. My wife and I, our 16 year old son, and three others (niece/ 2 nephews age 17 to 24) stayed for a week, and couldn't have been more comfortable. Plenty of places to sit and read, play cards and chat. Impeccably clean and well maintained, with a warm greeting from the owner on arrival. The house is on the lovely Sheep's Head Peninsula, with beautiful views of the bay, and the sounds of sea and the country (sheep on the other side of the hedge!) An easy walk into town for newspaper and bread in the morning, and a pleasant stroll home from one of the delightful pubs in the evening. We'll definitely be back--soon, I hope. West Cork is an undiscovered gem, with all of the beauty of the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, etc., but none of the crowds and tourist buses. The village of Durrus is thoroughly pleasant and real, nothing touristy about it. The nearby town of Bantry has good restaurants and pubs, and always something going on (the West Cork Literary Festival the week we were there.) Just a wonderful experience!

We had a fantastic week at Nuala & Finton's house. It was homey and comfortable, and the views were unbelievable. The location was perfect, we spent a few days driving around to see the sights, and spent the rest of the time close to home exploring the gorgeous countryside outside our door. We took advantage of the proximity to pubs in the evenings, and loved the small town feel. I would highly recommend the house to anyone!

Better Than Expected

A Lovely Time In Ireland Wasilla, Alaska
Review Submitted: February 21, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Everything about my trip to Ireland was better than I ever expected it would be, including the accomodations. Nuala and Fintan were very, very welcoming - spending a lot of time with my Mom and I recommending places to go and sights to see.

The house was quaint and darling and I loved every moment of my time there. The beds were magnificent and you hopped in at night and they were warm and comforting.

The town of Durrus is small and friendly. Nearby Bantry has internet access and larger shops.

This is a perfect location to tour much of the south-west portion of Ireland, which is the most beautiful part of the country.

We spent every day driving and exploring - and there wasn't a day we saw the same thing twice. It was beautiful and picturesque and the home is a lovely place to come back to.

Some of the most beautiful pictures I took while in Ireland were either from the house, or just a few blocks from it. You really couldn't choose a more beautiful spot.

There is a small market just a few blocks away, and pubs within walking distance as well. We really enjoyed the live entertainment the last night of our stay. The people of Durrus are warm and friendly and made us feel welcome and wished we'd come back...perhaps we will...if so, I hope to stay at Nuala and Fintan's home again...you couldn't ask for better.

Thanks!

The house, gardens & views were even better than the photos & description - it was indeed more than we had hoped for. The welcome and thoughtfulness of the owners was lovely. Great place for children, couples, friends, young and old. The location was perfect for us - great sightseeing, rural, but within walking distance to the village, 10 minutes to Bantry, and close to the most spectacular views you could ever find. We hope to go back!

Our stay in Durrus

This was the trip of a lifetime! I searched for months for just the right house. We were just thrilled with the house and gardens. It was really more that we had hoped for. The owners treated us like family and were so friendly and hospitable. My husband and I were traveling with our three children. There was plenty of room in the house. We could have accommodated more! The grounds and garden were just breathtaking. As were the views from every room in the house. This was our first trip overseas and it really made all of us eager to do it again. The house was very clean and well stocked. The fireplace was a real hit in the evenings! I think this is the perfect place for a family traveling or group of friends. The village of Durrus is very close walking distance. We often walked down for fresh bread from the local market. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone traveling to Ireland!!

Reception by the owner was very good and hospitable.

Superschöner Urlaub

die villagers Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler
Review Submitted: October 5, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009

Bulldogge Berlin
Review Submitted: October 6, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008

Irland as it is von seiner liebenswertesten Seite.
