A Wonderful Family Holiday

Review Submitted: September 21, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The photos on the web certainly do not do this property justice!

The house and garden are exceedingly well maintained, the owner rang us during our first weekend to make sure we had arrived safely and that everything was in order.

Our pary of eight (age range 4 to 73) couldn't beleive our luck when we unlocked the door to this lovely house, it was spotlessly clean and contained everything we would need for our stay.

There is so much to do in the large garden, croquet, badminton, cricket plus space for our son and son-in-law to practice their golfing skills. The pool was in use every day with plenty of room for both swimmers and those who just wanted to play! There are also lots of toys, puzzles and games indoors.

We had lots of days out, visiting chateaux, wine tasting (and buying) or searching out local markets, we also had lots of days 'at home' enjoying our surroundings. Our two golfers spent two days playng at local courses.

The Hotel du Pont at Molineuf where we had a lovely meal by the river is to be recommended, excellent food, service and value for money.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Le Buanderie for a holiday and certainly hope to return.

A great vacation spot for any type of holiday

Our extended family of 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 5 young children (ages 5-9) had a wonderful time in this quiet countryside vacation home. The house was perfectly described on the website, was well furnished and had all of the amenities of home, but in a beautiful Chateau estate.

The 4 bedrooms were easily able to accommodate the 11 of us, and the high-walled backyard was an ideal area for the kids to play in. We were there early in the summer season and the pool was still a little on the cold side, but the kids enjoyed swimming in it nevertheless.

The house is very well situated, private and away from busy traffic areas, but just a 10-15 minute walk to the bakery in the local town of Orchaise for fresh bread, or a short 5 minute drive to local towns with supermarkets or fruit/veg markets. The forested grounds around the Chateau were ideal for evening walks after dinner, and provided tranquility and privacy to the house.

We mixed up our vacation with active days (cycling alongside the Loire and canoeing along the Cher rivers), with wandering the local towns (Blois and Amboise are well worth a visit) to sightseeing at some of the local Chateaux (Chambord, Chenonceau and Usse were all an easy drive away and very interesting to visit).

After spending a few hectic days in paris, this was an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the wonderful french countryside.

We would recommend this house and area to anyone seeking a little peace and quiet, but still close enough to larger towns to get out and explore the Loire/Cher/Indre region.

All in all, we had a great vacation at this charming, well equiped house in the Loire valley region.

A base for all types of holidays!

The website description for this house is spot on! It is a lovely mix of a beautiful peaceful Countryside retreat, combined with everything for the younger family. We mixed our holiday: some days were quiet days at the poolside, playing games and having BBQ's; others were days out visiting the chateau, adventure parks and local towns and cities. Blois is well worth a visit.

Walks in the woods and meadows, and around the lakes were lovely, and is was a real treat to see the deer in the woods.

Evenings were wonderfully quiet, listening to the owls and watching the bats in the twilight.

We found the house well furnished, just like a home from home, with everything we could want, and the local supermarket which was 5 minutes away had a wonderful selection of food and drink.

All in all – a wonderful holiday! Something for everyone in the family in a beautiful setting.

Can't wait to go again!

Our stay in the old laundry

Review Submitted: January 6, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
We stayed for a brief weekend in October.

The house is part of on old country estate, this part being the old laundry that has been tastefully converted. Although the rest of the estate is in use the buildings are spread far apart and there is nice feel to it. Most rooms are very large and spacious with some nice design features. We stayed in the master bedroom which was massive, with a good sized ensuite shower facility. The living room is very large and spacious. The kitchen is smaller, but still perfectly adequate.

The house has a very large walled garden, with swimming pool, and lawns which would be good for children and the garden has a lot of privacy. The house is surrounded by a lot of woodland so is very tranquil and it is certainly off the beaten track. Although we did not venture far, as time did not permit, there would appear to be plenty of opportunity for good walking directly outside the front door.

A great place for those looking to get away from it all, in a nice part of the country. Nice towns and interesting Chateaux.

Home from Home

A holiday in this lovely historic but contemporary house is what you make it. You can have a peaceful time away from it all in the private walled garden with it's fenced-off pool area, or you can get out and about and explore the Loire Valley with it's chateaux & vineyards. The kids (and adults) will enjoy adventuring out into the ancient woodland just outside the kitchen door. With 2 showers to choose from and a washing machine & drier, it doesn't even matter if they get dirty! And if the weather is bad, there is satellite TV, DVDs, games & plenty of room so you won't get on each other's nerves! The house is well equipped and family friendly (e.g. secure walled garden, fenced-off pool, downstairs loo, etc). It would also be suitable for adult groups as the accommodation is fairly flexible. Whether you want to go out to any of the nearby activities or just relax, this is the place to do it.

Fantastic relaxing escape

We had a wonderful short stay in this spacious and peaceful house, with tranquil surroundings and all the comforts of home.
As we visited late in the season, we didn't get to use the pool, but it looked like the perfect place to spend summer evenings... however we did enjoy the lovely fresh kiwi fruit growing in the garden. We would definitely love to come back with the kids, as they would really enjoy having the freedom to explore the estate.
A perfect haven to return to after a busy day exploring the delights of the Loire valley.

Perfect for a relaxing break

Nestled behind a charming chateau deep in the french countryside, La Buanderie is a perfect and tranquil (the only sounds you will hear are horses neighing and cockerells crowing!) setting for a holiday with friends or family.
It is ideally placed for sightseeing trips along the Loire Valley (Blois and Amboise being our favourite), although
the girls particularly enjoyed the pool in it's secluded corner of the garden.
After our evening barbeques we retreated inside the house which was incredibly spacious and very comfortably furnished.
When it was unfortunately time to leave, the journey was so easy we were home by 5pm - perfect!

Perfect holiday home

The house was just as described, spacious, spotless with all amenities. The grounds of the Chateau were quiet but with glimpses of deer and birds. The local area and nearby towns were packed with things to do but not packed with people! Would definitely recommend for a family who want both to get away from the bustle but have sufficient variety of activities.
