The house is all we expected and more, very clean; very well maintained and tasteful. I would also like to say that there are now sharp knives and an excellent vegetable peeler! There was also the added bonus of the facilities of reception with very friendly and most helpful staff. We had some lovely meals out, but the apartment is so well equipped that it is not a problem to eat in, we dined on the wonderful roof terrace, which had magnificnet views. We didn't have a car and found we didn't need one. We walked to the Lidl, which is not far, bought our basics and got a taxi back. There is a market for fish and veg everyday. We had a lovely meal in Bernards, the staff there are lovely and made us feel very welcome indeed. We would also recommend the Farragood, which is situated in the main town, but if you want something reasonably priced to eat, there is a lovely little snack bar on the beach, which serve tastey meals right into the evening, which cost on average 7 - 8 euros per main meal, and a bottle of house wine is only 6.50 euros, and it is set in the most delightful setting. It was lovely to have an evening meal with wine, right on the beach, candles on the table and watch the sun go down - bliss! There are two other restaurants on the beach front and one has live music until the early hours if you fancy moonlight dance. In fact Ferragudo has something for everybody, and it is lovely to see that the lovely narrow cobbled streets are untouched by commercialism. We did the cliff top walk and walked from Ferragudo to Carviero, it took about 3 hours, we enjoyed an excellent meal in their village square, we explored Carviero and then spent the afternoon on the beach to recover from our walk, we hired a taxi back for 9 euros. Another day we got the bus from just behind reception into Portimao. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and we will definately recommend it to our family and friends.
Owner's Response: Nothing to add, another satisfyed guest.I must say I did not realize how cheep the taxis are.I am pleased to here the resteraunts are all pleasing our guests of course there
are many more to choose from.

A Wonderful Holiday

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We have just come back from a wonderful weeks holiday. The house was fantastic - clean, roomy, well-equipped, comfy beds, quiet air con, gorgeous sun terrace and very peaceful. We found both the reception and pool bar staff friendly and helpful. The pool had shade if required during the hottest parts of the day and was only a few steps from the front door. We ate breakfast and normally lunch in and found that the kitchen contained all we needed. In the early evenings we loved the Kalu beach bar and its chilled out caribbean feel. We ate out in the evenings in a variety of restaurants both on the beach and in town and enjoyed every meal - we found the prices of food and drink very reasonable. The live music in the beach restaurants and in the square was an added bonus. Ferragudo is a lovely place - peaceful and uncommercialised and very friendly. We enjoyed visits to Carvoeira and Portimao but were glad to return to Ferragudo. The local beaches were excellent and, like the town, were within easy walking distance. We loved the beaches at Sagres - worth a visit. We had a hire car but could've managed without one if we hadn't wanted to travel further afield. I would recommend this house to all but the infirm (because of the steps) - we were with my daughter and her boyfriend who are in their early twenties and they also had a fantastic holiday.

Stayed for short break with partner in October 2008 - Property very clean and well-maintained and would recommend to others as great for either a short break or main holiday. Bedrooms downstairs so may not be suitable for families with toddlers or very young children but layout fine for children otherwise. Easy walk to town and beach and locals very friendly. We enjoyed eating at several restaurants in town and ate in a couple of times too. Owner was really helpful and got back promptly if we had any queries. Looking forward to staying again in the future.
Owner's Response: I am pleased guests wish to return to our house in Ferragudo it is all very satisfying to here.

The photos on this website do not do the villa justice, we could not believe how clean, modern and well maintained it was! With two terraces and 3 bathrooms we were spoilt for choice. The kitchen was very well equipped, although maybe could do with a few sharper knives and a better peeler! There are games and books and a dvd player for your entertainment. The villa is in a great location, literally less than 5 mins to the beach, although for the nicer beaches you need to walk slightly further. The beaches were so quiet was lovely! We did not have a car, and found most things within easy reach, but because of this we could only shop in little grocery shops which are expensive. Restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. We particularly recommend the O Barrel and the bar the three monkeys, a lovely upmarket bar, very friendly! Portimao is the nearest town, this website recommends the water taxi, which we actually found quite expensive at 8 euros per person return. Id recommend getting a bus or normal taxi. Reception were also very helpful and we were able to book various activities this way. We would certainly recommend this property especially if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday in a non touristy area!
Owner's Response: Another Great Review. There is no mention of the local market Veg./ Fish a good place to shop and with in walking distance.

Ferragudo in Jan/Feb

Guy & Liz Hampshire.
We rented the house mid January 09 for one month. On arrival the property was clean and tidy.
Ferragudo in january is very quiet, just as we hoped, only a few restaurants were open, but the food was reasonable but due to the exchange rate not good value,(2 meals 1 bottle of wine £50), so we ate in quite a lot, or visited nearby friends.
We spent our days walking and bird watching, the Algarve is great for both. We also spent a couple of nights in Evora
in the Alentajo area, this is the agricultural centre of Portugal its a very beautiful and traditional part of the country.
We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Castelo. Just a couple of minor criticisms, we paid £50 to the complex for a wifi connection that was weak and unreliable, and the tv and the available channels awful. Not a problem in the summer or a short stay but during long cold winter nights, yes, but this wouldnt stop us renting the house again.
Owner's Response: I would expect the meals where 3 course for that sort of money, having the facility to eat in or on the terrace is always a good way of balancing the cost.I will check out some local restaurants and make recommendations as were to eat.The wifi you paid for to the complex, I will inform the management of your coments, this is the only way of getting things improved. The tv. channels there is room for improvement. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in Ferragudo and look forward to your returne.

A perfect relaxing break for two couples

Review Submitted: October 1, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We enjoyed a wonderful sunny week in Ferragudo (15th Sept). The house is in an ideal location, being close to beautiful beaches, the quaint town and a number of good quality restaurants.
The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped. We ate out every day and did not cook, but there is plenty of everything to enable you to cook all kinds of food. When we arrived, the house was spotless, and there was plenty of room for the four of us to live together in harmony for the week.
We were very lazy during our stay and very much enjoyed the sun terace at breakfast time and in the afternoons, once we had returned from a visit or a stroll. A lovely touch is the folder of ideas and notes on places of interest and restaurants, which has been complied by successive visitors to help others to plan their holiday. We went to some of the recommended places and added some of our own. The pool is really close by and reception were very helpful. We did not want for anything all week.

A wonderful family holiday destination

Review Submitted: September 28, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
My wife & I took our two children (4 & 5) to Ferragudo for a typical beach without stress holiday. We could not have selected a better location.
The Town House was perfect in all manner of ways. The kitchen had everything you could need to prepare family meals and we always ate our meals on the wonderful terrace. With the bedrooms downstairs, these were cool and most importantly from our perspective, quiet and so the children were not disturbed at night and consequently slept very comfortably. Mum and Dad could then share a bottle of wine on the terrace at night and play cards - wonderful.
The beaches we very close and beautiful. The nearest was within 5 minutes walk very safe and had a number of bars / restaurants to provide everyone with something cool as required.
We went to over 7 beaches within 20 minutes of the town house and all were sandy and clean.
Ferragudo had a wide range to restaurants most of which were full of locals, rarther than tourists; which we loved.
I would reccommend this beautiful town house and definitely go back to both it and Ferragudo.
Owner's Response: All these reviews help to keep us on our toes and deal with the guests well being, of course it helps us keep standards high this our priority.

If you want to relax, this is the place for you!

Myself, my sister and our partners (age 28 to 35) have just returned from a relaxing holiday in Ferragudo. The townhouse is not only very spacious but it is immaculate. The sun terrace which is accessed through the lounge is where we spent most of our time because it was large, had the sun all day and had very comfortable loungers but if you want shade you could use the umbrellas provided or sit at the patio table which had constant shade throughout the day. The bedrooms are large with plenty of wardrobe space and they both open onto a private courtyard but we just used this to dry our washing. We would have been lost without the air-conditioning because the weather was wonderful. We spent a few nights in to eat on the terrace and watch films, the TV has a few english speaking channels with anything from eastenders to a movie channel, which proved invauable to my sisters partner because he's not keen on sunbathing. The pool is only a few steps from the front door which has a bar that serves drinks and snacks. The nearest beach is only a short walk away. Reception are very helpful and have plenty of reccomendations for restaurants etc. We ate out at Bernard's, Ferragood, Potrarade and Riviera and all were good quality and reasonably priced - my favourite was Bernard's they did the best pate I have ever tasted and the hake was beautiful. The village has a convenience store, bakery and butchers. You will have no trouble if you don't speak the language but the locals appreciate it if you try. This is a quiet and non touristy destination but if you want somewhere with a bit more going on, you can get a water taxi to Portamino. Overall this holiday ticked all the boxes of a relaxing break and would highly reccomend this property!
Owner's Response: Nothing pleases me more than a satisfied guest.

We really liked this property. Very comfortable and ideally located. House had all amenities one could want and good quality. Beds comfortable and we slept well. Area quite quiet.Reception very helpful.
There were a few minor things that limited my overall experience to good as opposed to excellent. Sound on DVD player wasn't working and indoor lighting a little dim. I have advised owner of these issues and he says he will remedy.

Robert
Owner's Response: DVD is now working
Yes the lighting is subtle and I understand the need for additional lighting for reading purposes. This will be addressed.asap.

Perfect Honeymoon!

Ben and Jo Windsor
Review Submitted: May 5, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2007
We had a fantastic honeymoon at Casa do Peixe in Ferragudo back in 2005 and a couple of great stays since. The villa is ideally located: near the pool and only a short walk into Ferragudo itself. Ferragudo is a charming little fishing village with a great choice of restaurants as well as local shops and markets. Water taxis and trains are available from the village so no need to hire a car. However being the adventurous sort, we hired a car and had a day up in the mountains, a day on the west coast and a day in Tavira - all highly recommended!!

The villa is well kitted out with everything you need and was clean on arrival. Reception were very helpful in booking local trips, restaurants etc. Our best meal (and we like our food!!) was at a restaurant on the Monchique road called Jardim das Oliveiras - it's a must :-)

In short, we'd recommend this villa and location to families, couples or groups of friends alike. Whether you want to lounge by the pool or on one of the nearby beaches or explore the Algarve further - this is the perfect spot. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have over the last couple of years!
