Thanks again for a wonderful trip back to this appartment and we will be back again and recommending it to our friends. The appartment is very well appointed with everything we needed and very clean, which is for me the most important part of any holiday accommodation. Everything has been thought of.

The location is so peaceful and we enjoyed wonderful days on the beach. Thanks to our hosts for an excellent trip.

We had a wonderful week at "La Fregates" and in fact I had given it the top score, which made me wonder what I might have missed! This apartment has a lovely peaceful situation but everything you need is within a stone's throw. The beach iin particular is noteworthy, going on for miles but quite unspoiled, safe for bathing and lots of empty space. The furnishings are tasteful and the "welcome" pack made us feel we had found a second home. Jeni was a fountain of information and ideas at all times - we shall be back!

when we arrived at the apartment we were greeted by a strong musty smell,we gave the first hour of our holiday cleaning parts of the apartment, the bed linen which you pay extra for was old and nobbly we got back home and we had recived an email from the lady involved requesting i send her 25 euro for cleaning of the apartment which we left in a lot better condition than we had found it ,the apartment did put a dampner on our holiday but the area itself was fantastic
Owner's Response: We were horrified at the condition this family had left our apartment in at the end of their holiday, they had not booked our optional cleaning service which is very reasonably charged nor had they made any attempt to do any cleaning whatsoever after 6 of them had been staying there. It was very disrespectful to leave their washing up, dirty ashtray, very dirty bathroom, lots of sand everywhere, half eaten biscuits under the settee, a stained duvet, etc.they hadn't even emptied the bin . Absolutely no attempt whatsoever had been made to leave the apartment as they found it . Consequently as it took us an exceptionally long time to clean after them I rightfully requested the cleaning charge and this guest has quite clearly taken revenge by writing this review with clearly outrageous and totally untrue comments.. The bedlinen is not old or nobbly, it is good quality cotton and we kindly make up beds for guests to make them as welcome as possible.

Sea, Sand and Sun

Great for a relaxing beach holiday, with good scenery nearby for which a car is necessary. The town of St Cyprien Plage/Marina is a bit disappointing for shopping and no traditional French market, though the restaurant Le Phare was good. The nearby towns of Collioure and Elne are well worth a visit. Unfortunately we didn't do as much exploring as the kids were enjoying the beach/pool so much. Note the sea gets fairly deep quite rapidly but it seemed very safe and clean, there was also a lifeguard post very close on hand.

The pool was very clean and the water regularly checked (2x every day). The appartment was clean and functional and you could see the sea (just) from the balcony. The complex was quiet and felt safe and was kept in good order. The local shop/bakery/Chicken Rotisserie and Pizza/Creperie were excellent and within the complex so very handy.

Events were held in a nearby patch of land that was fun for the kids (Motor Show Daredevils and circus). We did not go to Aqualand as the kids were happy with the beach and pool but it is very near.

Holiday review!

Herts Hertfordshire
Review Submitted: July 30, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Nice apartment, basic but good facilities. One minute walk to lovely beach (stoney, pebbles and sand!). No umbrellas to hire for shade that I could see. We didn't have a car and this would have been useful to get more out of a beautiful area. Small, adequately stocked and well priced food store on location which also sold chicken and chips lunch and evenings. Small pizza take-away on site. However no restaurant or bar in immediate area. 25 minute walk to marina or bus or tourist 'train' - this cost 3 euros per person one way. Ideal for lazying on beach and taking it easy, not so good for teenagers if they want loads to do, though Aqualand in walking distance and fair, nightclubs at marina. Overall enjoyable week, good accomodation, lovely area, mostly quiet.

Owner's Response: Just a little note about restaurants and bars in the immediate area around the apartment, there is an award winning restaurant open to the public at the Cala Gogo 4star campsite about 200metres away where there is also a very lively bar, a choice of several restaurants and bars at the local charming shopping centre about 500 metres away, a beach bar and restaurant on the beach just in front of the apartment building, a choice of a pizzeria restaurant and buffet restaurant and beach bar at the Laguna Hotel about 300metres away, award winning restaurant at the Isle de la Lagune Hotel 300metres away, magical italian restaurant outside under the trees at the Grande Stade about 500metres away.
