having stayed in barbados in st lawrence gap area many times before, we decided to try a villa this time, there were two couples and two older teenagers in our party and this villa seemed to suit our needs perfectly. the directions given to us were spot on and the villa was very easy to find from the airport, a tip if you are not a regular traveller to the area, turn right at bottom of the street and a few hundred yards along the road, just before the petrol station there is a doctors office, painted bright blue, if you turn right here it takes you straight onto the highway. on arrival the property manager met us and showed us around and told us how to work air con, etc. villa was very spacious and well equipped with dvds cds etc and plenty of tv channels if you have a rainy day. we found the cool box and picnic facilities to be very useful as we used them most days. we were left a welcome pack of eggs, bacon, cheese, milk, cola, teabags and a bottle of rum to get us through the first night which was wonderful! there is a supermarket just along the road, opposite the petrol station which stocked most things that we needed. the gazebo and pool outside were fabulous and very welcome, we met the staff of cleaner, gardeners and pool men during our stay who were all very friendly. only small criticisims were that the barbecue did not work when we went to use it, the telephone line and internet are not yet connected and another shower instead of a bath with mixer taps would have been useful with six people staying here. this property was ideal for our needs as a family but maybe a little too far away for young groups as you would need to get a taxi to pubs, etc and it was a ten minute ride from the gap.
Owner's Response: Louise - Really Glad you enjoyed your Stay, thanks for the review. Since your trip I have purchased a brand new BBQ and we have had broadband installed ! Craig.

Coverley House Villa Review

We have just spent 2 lovely weeks at this Villa, it is in an ideal location, just 5 minutes from the Airport and close to what we think is the best beach on the Island, Miami beach. The Villa is the best equipped one we have stayed at and mosquito free, no bites all holiday. Close to Oistins you must go there for the Friday night fish fry. Only slight negative for the Villa was there is no telephone landline connected which means using public phones when organising trips or taxis, also we were told there was internet access with a computer, there is access but no computer so you will need to take your own unless this changes. The Villa bbq was great and the outside eating area lovely particularly at night. Can highly recommend the Harlequin Restaurant at the gap, best one we went to although they were all very good. Also if you do a Catamaran trip use Cool Runnings, the best of the lot and well worth the cost. We got a warm welcome on arrival from Cynthia, and Harriet kept the Villa immaculate, also we had several visits from the pool men over the stay who also did a great job. We will definitely come back to this Villa when we return, thanks also to Craig the owner who answered all our questions before we went on holiday.

Although we have been to Barbados on many occasions this was the first time that we have a rented a villa. The villa is away from any main road and was extremely quiet and peaceful. It's location made travelling to our favourite spots extremely easy eg Rockley Beach, Oistins and St Lawrence Gap. The villa had everything we could have wished for and more although we refrained from making use of the bicycles as it was extremely hot!! Your contacts on the island were extremely friendly and helpful and the garden was beautiful. We sat in the gazebo in the morning with our breakfast - sheer bliss. Went to the Boatyard for the first time and ended going back for a second visit. $30 to get in per person but fully redeemable against food and drinks!! I am sure we will back and have recommended the villa to friends and family. Paul Karen and family Chris Nicky and family from Eastbourne UK

My girlfriend and I spent 5 nights at Coverley House and enjoyed every moment. We got up each day at around 05:45 slightly ahead of dawn just to catch the first rays, while swimming in the pool. Breakfast in the lovely gazebo, at around 7 ish, then ready for a trip out to one or other easy to reach sights / beaches, usually returning to Coverley for lunch. (Note even Speightstown at the other end of the island is only 40 minutes away). We are not totally mad, and did spend a whole day by the pool, which was lovely.

Usually we bought fish at Oistins fish market to cook in the evening. The villa is amazingly well equipped. The kitchen has two or three of every cooking utensil we needed - which was great as whilst cooking we could just put used equipment into the dish washer and use the next piece. There are toys, board games, PS2 games and DVDs, though we preferred to just sit outside in the garden by the pool. The garden is very pretty, with a lot of Bougainvillea. I have very sensitive skin and even though I used no repellent I got no mosquito bites. This may be due to the fact that the villa is on a slight knoll and so there was usually a light breeze. This breeze also made it very comfortable to sit out, and we only used the super quiet air-con very lightly, whilst sleeping.

I lived mostly in the Far East and have been to Bali, Boracay, Koh Samui, Langawi and a host of other islands in other parts of the world, including the Caribbean. Barbados is now my favourite, a feeling possibly enhanced by the fact that Coverley House is the best place in which I have stayed. Many thanks.

This is the best location if you want to get the maximum out of a holiday in Barbados. You will not find a better appointed villa.....it had everything, was spotless and the best bit is that you are in with the locals who are lovely people.
Best beachs...Crane and Bottom. Loved the rugged east coast Bathsheba and the Scotland region.
Eating out; Don't miss the fish fry at Oistins which is good fun....The Fish Pot which has a knock out setting on the beach, or the Harlequin in St Lawrence Gap which we thought was the best of the lot.
Don't be put off using the buses...you can go to all the main areas by bus which is an experiance in its self.
I would not hesitate to recommend this first class villa.

What an amazing holiday!!! It was the best holiday I've ever been on ! The villa is quality. We both had tears in our eyes when we had to leave .We have had an amazing time in Barbados. Coverley House is a great base for the whole Island. A home from home with everything you need and expect from a luxury villa. The Gospel breakfast at the Crane on Sundays is a must. If you fell adventurous, try Zed’s surfing school, 10mins from the house. Fish Pot restaurant , as recommended by Craig and Pandy in Information pack was amazing, with a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. Everything was perfect; Jackie was really nice and helped us out. I’ve recommended it to loads of people and they are interested in booking it as well
Thank ever so much again,
Sean and Nicola.
