Excellent house and location

bedell Bury St Edmunds
Review Submitted: August 17, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Two families - each of four people - rented the house in August 08. The house was easily large enough to comfortably accommodate all of us. The house is well equiped and has good outside areas for dining and relaxing.

The location is really one of this properties strongest points. It is a few minutes walk to the beautiful plage des nonnes and a few minutes walk from the centre of the charming town of Merschers. We had four teenagers in our party and it was so wonderful to simply send them off to beech or town without having to drive them. There are two beech cafes - Tina's cafe has good live music and a superb atmosphere - popular with all ages. There is a free access internet cafe just 40 meters from the house - so it is worth taking a laptop if you (or your son/daughter) cannot do without their internet fix.

Despite having some rather poor (and unseasonal) weather, we were never stuck for things to do. Highly recommended.
Owner's Response: As stated, great location for teenagers, who want a bit of freedom without Mum and Dad having to 'tag along'. Easy walk for everyone to the beach, bars with live music, shops and internet cafe!

Superb holiday home

Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We are just back from a fantastic 2 weeks holiday at Rose Mousse. The house was perfect for all 12 of us (3 families) considering the age range was from 4 to 47 ! The house was spacious and very well equipped. Shelly and Carl are very helpful & friendly, going out of their way to fix the dishwasher mid holiday...Thanks, washing up for 12 would not have been fun.
The location was perfect, we did not miss a car as everything was within walking distance, wonderful markets every day, handy supermarket nearby, beautiful safe & clean beach which our kids loved. The garden had plenty of room and was safe for the children to play.We enjoyed many BBQ's and lovely meals ,which we ate outside everyday. The weather was perfect which also helps. I would highly recommend this for a perfect beach holiday break.

We would highly recommend this property for a good family seaside holiday. The house catered for our party of 8, 3 generations, with age range 10 months to 79 years old, with a very homely ease that had us relaxed and comfortable. Carl and Shelley have the house very well equipped and nothing is too much trouble. A stair gate was quickly provided for us to keep the baby safe. The area is beautiful with stunning sandy beaches which we all loved. Our journey from Roscoff took 7 hours with stops but the route down is an easy drive. We didn't need to use the car every day as the beach was at the end of the road and the supermarket and small town centre a 5 minute walk the other way. The Zoo is a must, you can get so close to the animals and the children and adults enjoyed being able to feed some of the animals.
A house and area we would definately return to.

Wonderful Rose Mousse

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this house! We had a WONDERFUL holiday at Rose Mousse in August. We were five adults and two children, and found the house incredibly spacious and comfortable. The location of the house is just excellent - so close to the lovely beaches, the morning market a five min walk at most. Really nice restaurants down at the port. We enjoyed long leisurely meals in the garden and it is a great size for kids of all ages, and very secure.
Day trips to the zoo at Palmyre and also to Royan provided great variety.
The owner Shelley is wonderful, very helpful and friendly. An example - half way through our holiday, we mentioned in passing to her that the only thing missing from the kitchen was a salad spinner..........upon our return from Plage Des Nonnes that afternoon, we found a brand new posh boxed salad spinner on the back steps waiting for us that Shelley had immediatly dashed off to buy!!! Very kind of her!!!

We have spent 1 week week in this very beautiful and comfertable house. Just a few minutes from the beach and all the local shops. At night the great hit is Tina"s on the plage des Nonnes, with live music and great cocktails.
This is a house with options for all, kids, teenagers and mums and dads. The garden offered a large porticco under which we hade long and pleasant diners.
A place to return to.

Wonderful holiday for very young children

Review Submitted: August 4, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a lovely holiday in Meschers and thought Rose Mousse was a fantastic holiday home. We have a young family, three children aged 4, 2 and 1. The children had a wonderful time which makes for a far more relaxing time for us parents. The garden was safe and secure and the house well equipped for children.

We did not venture far afield, finding that the garden and beach provided more than enough entertainment for small children. We did visit St Georges de Didonne which has a great beach and the Zoo at La Palmyre (tip take a packed lunch). When the children are a bit older we can return to experience all the other interesting locations of the area. Our eldest child did go into the Club Mickey on a couple of occasions (located at the nearest beach) and thoroughly enjoyed himself - he even learned some new french words!

The property was very clean on arrival and in all dealings we found the owners very helpful.

One tip (courtesy of our 4 year old son) perhaps a trampoline for the garden as it is big enough to take it and always a winner with children.
Owner's Response: Another great review for Rose Mousse, as it says, easily situated for the beach and suitable for families with young children who want a bit of a holiday too!

We had a lovely two weeks in this property. Two families - 10 in all (6 children) so the place was full, but still all managed to find our own space. Lovely property, and very accommodating owners. Fabulous location, short walk to Plage des Nonnes and the wonderful Tina's beach restaurant. Plenty of great eating places - Mille Sabords in the town, and la Foret within easy walking distance. Hyper U very local and handy, market a bit further but definitely worth the walk.

Rose Mousse, Meschers.SW France

Patrick and Christine Paisley. Scotland.
Review Submitted: July 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Patrick and Christine from Paisley in Scotland visited Rose Mousse for 2 weeks in July 2007. We shared the house with relatives, totalling 5 adults and 3 children. The children ages were 5, 9 and 12 and we all had a great time.
The house was absolutely perfect for us. It is very large, giving plenty of space for us all to do our own thing! It is very well maintained, nicely furnished and very clean. The bedrooms were a great size for everyone.
We enjoyed eating 'al fresco' in the beautiful, huge garden with its marvellous trees and superb flowers, as well as using the excellent dining area indoors.
There is a wonderful beach 10 minutes walk from the house which offers safe swimming for the children with good beach patrols present. Two beach cafes serve good snacks and lovely coffee!

We never felt the need to hire a car and spent our time locally. Meschers has a good shopping centre with a great supermarket close to the house. The local people are very friendly. A bus ride into Royan is easy and cheap and offers a huge choice of really good shops, cafes and restaurants. The bus stop is only 5 minutes from the house.

Shelley and Carl, the owners of the house are extremely helpful and are a phone call away if needed. They offer an excellent customer service and definitely aim to ensure that your stay is a happy one.

We all loved our holiday at Rose Mousse and will definitely be back one day. We would highly recommend this house as a great venue for a holiday, whether it is do nothing but relax or spend the time visiting local areas.
Owner's Response: These guests did not rent a car - we collected them from the airport, a service we can sometimes offer. We can always book you a taxi from the airport or train station.
At Meschers you don't need a car as the beach, market, restaurants (around 20 within 20 minutes walk), supermarket etc. are all within an easy walk. And, as these guests discovered, the buses too - which will take you to Royan, the zoo, other coastal regions and to other transport links.
We are always happy to help in advance if you need information on timetables, travel help or anything at all.

Lovely house, excellent touring base.

Review Submitted: July 2, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Rose Mousse is a beautiful house with a welcoming atmosphere, large enough for us to have our own personal space (essential with 3 teenagers!). Meschers is a quaint village, but was rather quiet with little for the teens to do, presumably because we holidayed in early June. The caves are very interesting, and a good value for money attraction. Nearby Talmont is only a few minutes drive away, and is absolutely beautiful. We visited Oleron, La Rochelle, Rochefort, Saintes, Marennes and Royan - all super places, easily accessible from Meschers. One advantage of June is that we had little traffic, and lots of parking spaces.
The owners of Rose Mousse, Shelley and Carl, are super hosts with a personal, friendly touch. Both made the effort to meet us and provided lots of information to help us enjoy our holiday, but they aren't intrusive.
Owner's Response: Thanks for another good review for Rose Mousse. This family stayed in early June, but by end of June/early July til September there is more for teenagers/young people to do, live music, bands, discos on the beach and in other local bars in Meschers. There are sailing lessons at Meschers too.
Buses run into Royan/St George and further afield if they want to go out without parents, either to the ariel run park, windsurfing at St George, surfing on the cote Savage or discover the town and beaches of Royan. There is also a bus that runs to and from local nightclubs, info. at the the tourist office, where you will also find info of other days out and special goings-on. There is bike hire, where the owners will actually deliver/collect the bikes to your holiday home
There is a Club Mickey on the beach for younger children too, where they are looked after activity leaders and can go swimming in pools, play group games, make new friends, trampolining etc.
If you have any special requests/activities you wish to try please contact us before and we will find out the relevant information for you. Lots of tourist info at the house too.

Rose Mousse

Review Submitted: May 31, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
We spent a week at Rose Mousse, and although the weather was a little mixed it did not prevent us from having a great holiday. The owners are very friendly and provide a lot of helpful information, and we experienced an efficient and problem-free booking process.

The accommodation is very spacious and full of character, and it is decorated well and sympathetically to provide a lovely, relaxed ambience. It really had the desired effect, as we all slowed down to the local pace of life. Thankfully, it is definitely not like rush-hour UK!

The local environment is very pleasant and safe, and perfect for both groups of adults or families with children. The property has a large garden, with plenty of space for children to play, and adults to relax. Off-road car parking is also possible.

It really is an easy stroll to the centre of Meschers and the small harbour, with a selection of small shops, an Hyper U, and a number of good restaurants and bars all close at hand. Try le Foret, it is a little more expensive - but what value for money! ( although certainly not UK prices for this standard) There is a beach just a short stroll from Rose Mousse that is also very good. A few kilometres away at St Georges is a fantastic beach and holiday village- it is worth taking your bucket and spade!

We toured around the region quite a bit, and all destinations such as Cognac, Ile d'Oleron and Blaye were easy to get to. Very little traffic with good, open roads.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and would certainly recommend it to others.
Owner's Response: Yet another great and honest review for Rose Mousse. That week (in April) the weather was not very nice, but luckily there is still plenty to do nearby - if you wish to do very much at all. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants, and also La Foret for a special evening out.
