Castle Hausmann delivered everything we required and more besides. The description was accurate, the property was clean and Jane could not be more helpfull. A short walk to Cavalaire centre, a lovely town with all the shops and a supermarket etc. The streets are beautifully laid out and the flowers well tended. The modern port is a delight by day and evening with many restaurants. Cavalaire is perfectly situated for days out in any direction, even to sea with boat trips. Have booked again for 2010.

A place to relax and de-stress

De-stressed London
Review Submitted: May 26, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
I've stayed at this appartment a number of times and always look forward to going back. My last trip was in February which was surprisingly warm during the day and we were able to have breakfast on the wonderful balcony as well as a few glasses of wine in the evening watching the sun go down. The appartment is well equipt for chilly February evenings with dvds, a selection of books, games and electric blankets.

There is a pleasant walk to the town and the marina where there are plenty of great places to have lunch or restaurants to have an evening meal. I don't usually hire a car but there is a reliable bus service and the owners provide good information along with bus and train route timetables to all the interesting places around. My particular favourite is St Tropez which is only a 30 minute bus ride away. Every journey along the coast is a pleasure as the views are so spectacular.

This is a beautiful appartment to spend time relaxing in with the high ceilings and french style furnishings. I would recommend it to couples or friends who want a stress free break as well as to families.

The description of the flat was a very accurate account of what we found - a comfortable and gracious appartment in a beautiful house. The flat was in perfect condition when we arrived and we found it to be excellently equipped with what was needed for cooking and eating, as well as with books, games, etc. I really enjoyed getting back into scrabble! The views from all the windows are fabulous - accross the town and bay, up to the mountains, and over the pool. It was a bit early for swimming but my sister managed to do two widths! We had hoped for a trip in the submersible boat but the weather was not quite right for it to go out. We had an excellent private mini-bus tour of Gassin and a couple of vineyards - where I discovered that I did, after all, like rose wine. We left the leaflet in the flat. And we visited the beautiful gardens at Reyal Canadel, as well as some other interesting and/or pretty villages - Grimaud, Cogolin, Bormes des Mimosa. We enjoed eating out a few times - La Bahir and the Pizzaiola - but also liked buying lovely food (Au Bec something or other that Jane mentioned) and eating it in the so-well equipped flat. Occasionally the driving was a bit fraught - a highly recommended (in guide book) scenic route from Mole to Canadel but also highly twisty and narrow! And very narrow lanes in a long stretch of roadworks from the motorway to Ste Maxime. My sister and I were delighted to find that our French was readily understood by local people - compared with the more disparaging approach by natives of more metropolitan France! I would certainly recommend Castel Haussmnn to others and I would like to finish by thanking Jane very much indeed for all her helpfulness.

Perfect Family Holiday

Review Submitted: January 22, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2008
We have stayed at this apartment three times because we love it so much. It provides a perfect family holiday for us as the pool is just below the balcony so when we don't feel like a swim the children can still swim safely under our supervision (they're now 11 and 13 but were probably about 8 and 10 when we first went to Cavelaire). The location is good as it is a short walk from the centre so you can eat out (in some very reasonably priced and family friendly restaurants) or visit the local market on foot with ease. The children are now getting old enough to go out in the morning to the local patisserie for freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolat and crusty french bread. Not that they ever seem to return with the loaf intact as it always seems to have been nibbled en route! There are some beautiful beaches, walks, vineyards, gardens and hilltop villages to visit locally. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need and more! The owners take care to add a few extra special touches which make you feel welcome and special! The apartment has lots of huge glazed doors and windows with shutters, making it bright and airy in the day. There is a beautiful afternoon breeze which means even in the height of summer the apartment is comfortably cool. I can't wait until we can return, as I have been at my most relaxed sitting on the beautiful balcony with views of the sea, with a book to read, great wine to drink and happy, occupied children. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone, with or without children!

A holiday to remember

Little Stars Wales
Review Submitted: January 22, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
We visited Castel Haussmann in September 08. Our son had just turned one and the apartment was perfect for our first family holiday. It was actually where he walked for the first time, on the golden sands of Cavaliere beach.

The apartment was thoroughly equipped for a young family with highchairs, travel cots and a selection of beach toys which were well used.

The high ceilings and shutters in the apartment meant that the nights were cool making it easier for all the family to have a well deserved rest.

It’s an easy walk into the town of Cavalaire, which we did every morning to buy croissants for breakfast and stop for a quick play in the beautiful playground in the centre of the town.

We will definitely return to this magical place for our next family holiday. We have very fond memories of our time spent at Castel Haussmann.

We've been back to this wonderful appt many times most recently in Sept 08 and loved it as much as ever. Our son is now an active toddler but the appt catered well for him (fold down bed, highchair etc) and felt safe and secure. The traditional french shutters also meant it remained cool and acted like black out blinds and so he didn't wake at daybreak every morning! It goes without saying he adored the pool and the town beach is very safe. We also go to the beach in Cavaliere (20 mins round the coast) where the water is crystal blue and the sand divine. We love that the appt is within walking distance of the restaurants which is handy for pushing a sleeping toddler back in the evenings. There's a great adventure playground 10 mins away which always proves a hit on the way to collect croissants in the morning. If you are self catering the kitchen is well equipped - Jane has thought of everything. Finally we would agree with all the great comments about the balcony. Because the appt is on the first floor the views really are spectacular and so it is a pleasure to just sit, be still and take in the vista. How often in life do you get a chance to do that.

wonderful holiday home

We came down to Castel Haussmann twice- the first time was in November 2006 and the second time was in May 2008. In November Xavier our 3 year old son who loved the pool so much that he swam everyday- even in November!! The apartment was in a lovely 1920 house with an Art Deco marble staircase . The appt had splendid views of the mountains from the bedrooms, but our favourite spot was the balcony where we ate and drank wine with friends- with stunning views of the sea and pool. The appt was very well maintained and well furnished and was in a quiet location - with everything you could want for a holiday, including sun beds , DVD, music , books and lots of board games. Jane , the owner was very helpful with lots things to do as well as providing details on local doctors and supermarkets etc. We went to St Tropez for lunch once and to the Cavalaire Marina for lunch most days but we ate on the balcony each evening which we enjoyed. We really loved staying here and will definitely return very soon. We would definitely recommend this to other families and couples.

Wish I was there now

Review Submitted: September 2, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We arrived during the high season thinking the crows and sun would be a bit overwhelming but to our surprise we had great sun every day with a cool breeze at night. There was a great buzz around the marina with plenty of wonderful restaurants (especially if you like fish) yumm. The house is well maintained, has everything and very spacious but I must admit we spent most of our time on the balcony overlooking the pool (which the kids loved) with its lovely views. During the day we went to the local diving centre - great vis, the sandy beaches and St Tropez. On the downside the traffic was busy for touring and although the kids spent numerous happy hours in the pool they found it difficult to communicate with other visitors as they only spoke French. All in all it was a small price to pay for such a relaxing enjoyable holiday. I most definitely would recommend this property. Many thanks to Jane for the excellent contact.

Wonderful apartment for families with children

Marjo & Tommi Finland
Review Submitted: July 28, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We spent a week holiday at the end of June 2008 in Cavalaire sur Mer with two children, aged 6 and 3. The apartment was ideal for us. There is plenty of room for everyone e.g. own bedrooms for children and parents. Also pool is very good size and in June it was not busy at all – most of time we were there by ourselves. Everything was well-organized in apartment and we got lot of information from owner (Jane) of apartment and surrounding activities beforehand. The apartment is very well situated near beach, shops, marina and restaurants -just a few minutes walk away. The beach was also very safe because it was low and sandy. This is important for families traveling with young children. From the balcony was fantastic view across sea and hills. From balcony was also view to pool – this is practical for families who are traveling with teenage children. While children are swimming parents can enjoy of staying in balcony and same time ensure that everything is all right in swimming pool. We found that apartment was very well –equipped – there were plenty of kitchen dishes- cups, plates etc. for children were own DVD’s and for adults bookcase full of books to read.

We had rented a car and we made short trips to the near villages and towns like St. Tropez, Hyeres, St Raphael. The Port of Grimaud is really worth of seeing – like little Venice. Near St. Tropez there is also nice amusement park. We will warmly recommend this apartment especially for families with young children.
