Extended Family Holiday in France
Review Submitted: July 29, 2009

Coming from New Zealand and meeting relatives living in England, we wanted a place that could comfortably fit 4 children (including a baby) and 7 adults for three weeks- which Le Peyrat definitely did.
We also wanted a place that we could do as little or as much as each person wanted. There was plenty of room outside with the children’s playground, room to kick a ball, play boules etc and offcourse the pool area. There are generous living areas and indoor and outdoor eating areas. There was plenty of places where we could all be together or find a quiet spot if you wanted.
There are plenty of attractions we would recommend only short drives away, like the markets- one every day in neighbouring villages, St Emilion, Sarlat, Brantome, Bourdeilles, the cute towns and prehistoric caves on the Dordogne, Domme etc
Our last requirement was being able to walk to the local village for a cup of coffee. We became very fond of the little village of St Martin de Gurson. It is only a five minute walk up the road, safe for pushchairs and there is a donkey or two to pat on the way.
There is a boulangerie, general store and pub in the village. We had many a coffee/drink and ice cream at the friendly pub. We also dined at the pub a few times which was very reasonable.
We had some nice walks to and from the lac. We didn't swim in the lac, but see that people do. We were interested to see the remains of the castle, the priory, the druid site and the roman road.
Tracy has a basketful of brochures and information. Tracy and Brian were very welcoming, inviting us to the local village boules competition and to the town swimming pool with slide with their son Samuel- who is gorgeous! They weren’t obtrusive but available if we had any queries.
We could have easily stayed longer.
