The Gables in Porthleven - a great place to go...

The Gables is very special! What a great place to go on holiday. The flat is in the middle of the village but nice and quiet. The Gables is one of the oldest houses in the village. Once you get used to the slightly wonky floors and the low headroom in places, you'll love the accommodation, everything you need. The kitchen is well appointed, big enough to cook a family-sized meal. Even the dog enjoys it. Nice and warm, even in late October/early November. I think we've been down four or five times in about five or six years. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
It takes all of two minutes to get to the post office, three to the local chippy, five minutes to the harbour, the supermarket and the nearest pub. The beach is amazing, mile upon mile of brilliant sand. There are lots of local walks including a wooded National Trust estate with a unique land-locked estaury. Porthleven is well situated for touring around The Lizard and West Cornwall. Penzance is about 10 miles away. The North coast is about half an hour away. There are some amazing sub-tropical gardens hidden away in the back lanes between Helston and Falmouth. There are some great pubs, and most of them take dogs. The locals are friendly. The cafes and restaurants are reasonably priced and the food is outstanding. The local wet fish shop is nationally renowned. Then there's the bakers, the pizzeria...
