Lasting memorys

Date of Stay: June 2007
We stayed in the 2 bed roomed apartment in June 07. It was everything the broucher said bright modern and user friendly. We spent 2 very pleasant weeks there; if a slow life revolving around a wine growing area is for you, this is the place to stay. Surprised at how hot it was.
Limbus is a 10 min. walk down a slight incline, passing lovely houses with flower filled gardens and pots. As with all villages the pub is the hub of the community, from coffee time to sun downers there is a friendly welcome. Good prices too.
There is a small supermarket, butchers, cafes, restaurants, wine cellar and private houses selling eggs and home grown vegetables. A neighbour, Frank took Roy mushroom picking at some unearthly hour of the morning, but it made a lovely risotto.
A clean, cheap, regular bus service will take you into Maribor. From the coach station there, most towns are accessible. We didn’t have a car so quickly learned how to get around.
Must see places.
The ski resort of Pohorje. Great for walking, cycling, eating and people watching. Weekends are best, for this is when everyone heads there to participate in all sorts of activities.
Maribor. The wine cellar, but book your visit on line in advance. Shopping, eating walking.etc.
Ptuje. What a surprise that was, beautiful and quaint. A fab.castle, meandering narrow streets and river walks. We even played golf there.
Jelka will meet you on arrival .She, you will find out very quickly is a lovely lady and Geraint’s girl Friday. A fountain of local knowledge, partially on vine yards and wines. I think she may have sampled them all. Poor girl has suffered for her art.
The stars of Slovenia are its people and will be the lasting memory we take with us.
Owner's Response: You both were talk of the local tourist association for some time after your stay as you went out of your way to mix with local people. The wine trip to Bela Krajina was obviously a trip not to be missed - didn't realise you spoke such good Slovene or maybe it was the wine! We all look forward to your next trip. Regards Geraint
