Just Perfect

A stunning apartment all round, the facilities went beyond our expectations with all the mod cons you would have at home so no need to over do it on the packing.
The bus ride into Funchal is an absolute must but don't forget to explore in the other direction as well towards the airport, we took a taxi tour with a lovely old chap, who had some funny manerisms but gave us a really good tour ''I turn righty righty , you go looky looky'' and for a 5 hour tour for the 2 of us was 60 euros.
The service and attitude of the Madeirans was a breath of fresh air and everywhere we went we felt very relaxed and comfortable.
Thank you, Mike with all your help and arrangements, everything went along without a hitch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again
Owner's Response: Thanks for your excellent review.

The Madeirans are a great bunch of people and love being helpful and showing off their beautiful island. They are very proud of their homeland and love taking tourists around and showing off. So you can always find a chatty taxi driver to show you round.

Glad to hear that you would love to go back,

Thanks Again,

Mike

A great island

We had a great time in Canico Baxio. The appartment was well maintained and to a good standard. The view from the balcony was stunning but it was an extremely steep slope down to the sea. There is no proper beach in the resort but there is a sea water pool and the water is warm. There is also good swimming in the clear blue sea. There are quite a few man made golden sand beaches within half an hour's drive along the new motorway which cuts through deep tunnels and traverses high bridges. We went for several walks in the mountains looking down on the clouds which tend to surround the island. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance of the appartment with prices much cheaper than we expected even with the pound being on parity with the euro. There are flowers everywhere even in October I would definetely recommend both Madeira and the appartment.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and glad you had a great time in the Apartment and Madeira.
If you ever want to rent again please let me know you are a repeat client and i will give you a good rate,

Kind Regards,
M

just to let you know that me and my husband had a brilliant time in Madeira. Your apartment was in an absolutely gorgeous place with a stunning view, listening to the sea every night in bed with a lovely breeze to keep us cool. I would certainly recommend your apartment to anyone looking for somewhere to rent and the apartment itself is lovely and spacious with everything you need. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Honeymoon August 2009

What a perfect place to stay for a honeymoon.
A wonderful apartment and fabulous views. We so enjoyed the week in Canico de Baixo and thought Madeira was a stunning island.
The apartment was just about perfect and so relaxing, What a joy to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean and the cruise ships and especially the squid fishermen at night..
There was everything we needed and more.
Top marks to Mike for the quality of the apartment, it is a very superior place to stay.
We will be back at some time in the future.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Sitting watching the cruise ships sail past is one of my favourite past times when im at the apartment, which sadly isnt often enough these days. Im glad you had a great time and a perfect honeymoon, all the best for the future

Kind Regards

Mike

Hi Mike

Thank you very much - we have had a wonderful week in Madeira in your lovely apartment - so well situated - our calf muscles are so much stronger now!

We were happy just to sit and read and enjoy the wonderful view - although as we had a hire car we did get some touring done as well.

Thanks once again.

Laid back holiday

Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The apartment was large, very clean, quiet, and with all necessary utilities for self catering. Communications from Mike the owner were excellent. The apartment has a stunning view being relatively high up with a large south west facing balcony and gets the sun most of the day. Lovely to sit with a glass of wine in the evening and watch the cruise ships going out to sea. There are a number of local restaurants within reasonable walking distance (it is hilly) for an evening meal and the food is well prepared and great value for money (much more so than Spain or Tenerife). This was our second trip to Madeira and we haven't been disappointed with anything. In the apartment there is a large pack of brochures about what to do around Madeira and don't take any books in your suitcase - there is a whole cupboard full in the apartment. A car is useful if you want to see the rest of the island and driving is an experience on the mountain roads.
This apartment will give you a quiet peaceful holiday.
Overall we had a great break - and I would recommend the apartment and location to anyone.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. Im glad you enjoyed the balcony as much as i do, as you said theres nothing quite like a glass of wine and view like that. Hopefully i will be able to help you again sometime in the future
Regards
M

Lovely appartment with the best sea view ever.
We loved the peace and quiet which itself completely lived up to expectations. The sea bay to the left of the appartment was wonderful and the water temperature in November was supprisingly good. Good local amenites and promenade walk.Reccomend the bus trip to Funchal. A great place from which to explore Madeira. This was our second visit to th island and we will come back and hope that we can stay here once again.
Thanks Mike for your help and good luck.

Best wishes

A big thankyou to Mike

What a fantastic break my partner Clive and I had. The apartment was first-class and Mike made us feel so welcome. As he was in Madeira himself at the time, Mike very kindly took us to Canico to show us where the supermarket was and also gave us a wee guided tour around the area - he pointed out 'The 'Village Pub' which we visited several times, enjoying lunch and a glass of wine - we highly recommend it (it also has internet facility if you want to keep in touch with home). Madeira is a lovely island and there is plenty of exploring to be done and we found the bus service excellent, so didn't hire a car. A walk along the promenade, which is just a short distance from the apartment, is very pleasant and we found an excellent place to eat a little further along from the promenade, with very friendly staff. We'd highly recommend the 'Steak on Stone' and 'Peppered Steak' - it's called the HABEAS COPPUS Restaurant/Pub. Although we were a little unfortunate with the weather, that was unusual and it hasn't put us off going again. Where the apartment is situated is so lovely and peaceful and waking up to the fantastic view of the sea made it perfect and just what we were looking for. Only 10mins from Funchal Airport is an added bonus. Clive and I would definately recommend Mikes apartment to anyone planning on visiting Madeira and we would just like to say a big thankyou to him for making us feel so welcome and relaxed. Thanks again Mike from Jack (Jacky) and Clive from Inverness/Aberdeen (Scotland).
Owner's Response: Thank you jack for your very kind words. I hope to see you both again,

Best wishes

Mike.

Relax and Destress, this was the best tonic

We loved our holiday at this apartment and highly recommend it. It was a great getaway, very spacious with amazing views of the Atlantic ocean, and a beautifully decorated interior with everything you could possibly need provided. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he booked car hire for us and answered all of our many questions. He also left a little book in the apartment which gave us recommendations for excursions, restaurants etc - we did a few lavadas ( the local walks which were breathtaking,) and took the cable car to Monte which was great fun. We were also able to completely switch off due to the quiet location of the apartment and the only sounds being of the waves crashing against the beach below. If your looking to unwind I would recommend you stay here. We are looking forward to returning next year! Thanks again.
Owner's Response: Its always nice to hear that people enjoy their stay at my apartment and I look forward to seeing you next year,

Kind Regards,

Mike.

September 08 visit

Review Submitted: October 7, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
My husband and I could not have asked more from this apartment, be prepared for the steep walk down (and back up) from the beach, but then the whole of Madeira is up and down... we ate locally nearly every night of our 10 day stay. Supermarket is only 10 mins drive and local restaurants were great. Apartment has wonderful view of the ocean and was extremely clean and had all you would need. Would definitely recommend car hire, and of course the toboggan ride in Funcal (but note the toboggan doesn't take you all the way back down to the town centre and its a very long, steep walk). Mike was extremely helpful and would definitely recommend this apartment to others.
Owner's Response: Really glad you had a great time enjoying the local cuisine and had fun with the exercise that a holiday in Madeira brings :)

Best wishes and hopefully we will see you both again soon,

Kind Regards,

Mike.
