Hello Neil

Just want to say Thank You for making us feel welcome and explain the many places to visit around Denia and Valencia. Neil did the food shopping for us as we arrived late – what a wonderful idea. The villa is lovely, and has everything we needed. On the days when the sun decided not to shine we enjoyed the wonderful open fire with a glass of red wine and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. The pool and views are just great and we will definitely be back.

October 2009 Disappointing

The pool was not sufficiently heated for our 7 month old baby and did not have a cover so any heat via the solar system was not held. The lounge was extremely well lit as it had 4 double windows, so great views, however, it is not air conditioned. The bedroom we stayed in was sufficiently air conditioned. The owner was not helpful when notified about the pool temperature. Shopping was there on arrival and all the cleaning products you will need.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the response & to put this response in perspective I have been letting my villa for 8 years & my Guest Book has 146 lovely comments.

Ths pool was 24 degrees min 27 degrees max. When the min drops below 24 I start covering it.

Guests have ample opportunity to get things put right during their stay as I personally clean the pool every other day & only live 15 mins away.

The award of 2/5 for meeting the guests locally & showing them to the villa on a sunday lunchtime, getting the preordered shopping in as the supermarkets do not reopen till monday, providing all the baby equipment free of charge & allowing the guests free use of the villa for the whole of the last day as they had a late flight is a little harsh.

dear neil, thanks for making our stay so comfortable. The view fom the villa is simply breathtaking. You supplied us with all we needed for a great holiday. After a twenty hour car drive from London to Spain we couldn't have wished for anything better. Great barbeque's every night and a lovely warm pool for the day. Loved the decor in the villa especially your piece of wall art on the wall (I want one !) Hopefully we can return next year. Will drop you an email, hope you liked out little poem. Take care love Lisa, Sephen, Chloe , John, Jamie Jack and Georgia xx

We had a lovely time at this villa and for the first few days, the weather was lovely. The only thing that let us down was the rain over the last 2 or 3 days which was torrential and meant we couldn't get out in the sun or use the pool. There were also huge thunder and lightning storms which I guess you have to expect at this time of year. Getting back to the villa, it was a lovely place to stay - very clean and with everything you could possibly need. Even in the rain we could watch TV or play table tennis. Neil was very helpful when we had hot water problems (our problem, not the villa's) and so was the lady who cleaned the villa. Our shopping was there on arrival, the beds were made up and the sun was shining. All in all this was a fab holiday, only spoiled by the weather. We would recommend this villa to anyone - especially those who like pool inflatables!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review & glad you enjoyed your stay. The weather can get a bit unsettled in october but at least you get mainly hot sunny days.

We have been visiting the villa annually for years and will return again. When we first came we were struck by the position of the villa on the hillside of Monte Pego, with great views over the countryside and no overlooking neighbours. It is a twisting climb from the main road, but well worth it. On our first visit Neil met us at the motorway exit to guide us and this was the start of a 5 star service that we have received ever since - from welcome to friendly chats - from genuine interest in our explorations to sharing with us places he has visited and enjoyed. Nothing has been too much trouble - booking us into the Lladro factory for a visit, recommending an unusual restaurant and finding out mass times are examples. We won't give away details of the extras for returning guests! The villa is always spotlessly clean inside and out, well equipped and no need to bring beach towels! We have had many lazy days and barbecues by the pool and you could easily spend the whole holiday on the hillside! If you did you would be missing so much that can be experienced around and about. We have had many trips exploring the coastline and countryside. Along the coast are many resorts that still retain a real Spanish feel. Valencia has provided us with lots of happy memories. The old city is beautiful - compact enough to easily walk around and a railway station in the centre for easy access. Museums and aquarium can fill whole days. The Americas Cup at the harbour is over but the venue will always be interesting. Inland there is choice between seemingly endless valleys through lovely mountain scenery and interesting villages and towns like Xativa with its incredible castle. Even after all our visits we still feel there is much to see and Neil improves some aspect of the villa each year to make it harder to leave it. We can vouch for the positive comments in his visitor's book - not just one liners that Neil is limited too here in the reviews, but pages of positive comments from family members young and older and from couples and friends - many have returned again and again like us. Now retired we came later in the season this year, when the weather was more settled. The underfloor heating had kept us warm as toast on cool March evenings, and the solar power to heat the pool had made swimming possible, but we wanted even longer days under blue skies and to be able to sit in the floating pool chairs and sip our favourite tipple! Can't wait for next year!

Owner's Response: Thanks ladies for the kind words & the time taken to write them. It has been a pleasure to welcome you on each visit & pass on the tips. The Americas Cup base is the venue for the 2008 Valencia F1 Grand Prix. See you soon.

Lovely place to go

We had a really lovely time in Montepego at Neils villa. It is really beautiful, in a very quiet place, with far reaching views over the valleys to mountains beyond. It was comfortable/cosy/luxurious, and the shopping service really made our time easy, as Neil gets the things you ask for to tide you over for the first few days. A car is essential, as the villa is up steep roads, in a complex that has a restaurant/bar/bank at the bottom of the hill, but it is really too far to walk unless you are really fit and used to that sort of exercise. The villa is exceptional, with everything you may need for a lovely holiday. The beaches are about 20 mins drive, and there are a lot of different shops in the nearby towns. There is a safari park just along the road, and lots of other attractions within driving distance. I would recommend this holiday to anyone who is looking for a quiet relaxing comfortable easy time.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words and you, as well as all other guests, will be made more than welcome in future. The shopping service continues and is a pleasure.
