Idyllic Italian rural hideaway

Went out seeking a quiet place to rest and relax, thankfully this property was situated on the crest of a hill overlooking the surrounding Vineyards and Farms and was tucked away from the motorways and larger towns locally.
Noticeable features are the quaint stairway (caution for the taller person at the top step) arched brick ceiling and a rustic red tiled floor in a nicely appointed kitchen with one of the largest oven/cookers I have ever seen.
The original structure being very thick walls, kept the rooms beautifully cool during the midday heat, however the big bonus for us was the private balconies to the large upstairs bedrooms and the hill top swimming pool that made for great breakfast and evening dining, taking in the views of the alps on the horizon!!!!
The array of local restaurants and local bodegas was extensive, too the point that it took more time for us to generally decide where to go than to drive (5-12 mins on average). The local roads are typical of the countryside and are yet another part of the experience of Italy. On the days we couldn't be bothered to go out, the Gazebo with BBQ and the games room kept us entertained and fed.
We took a couple of days trips to Genoa and Milan (which were no more than 45mins to couple of hours by car) and managed to squeeze a bit of site seeing and shopping, although we recommend take a city map as the inner city roads can be very confusing.
Very much enjoyed our stay, the toughest part was the last day having to leave this lovely country farmhouse and the friendly locals!
