Excellent location, amazing hosts

Review Submitted: July 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My family spent the better part of a week at apaprtment Castano and loved every minute.

Zoe and Nigel couldn't have been better hosts. They were great while we were planning our trip with information on the property and local attractions and always available while there to help.

Our kids really enjoyed the pool, gardens and games and it was a great relaxing location in the middle of a long Spain holiday.

Having come from the US for this trip we couldn't have been happier.
Owner's Response: You certainly didn't waste any time while you were here! You managed to get to so many of the attractions that you may feel you need another holiday! So pleased you all enjoyed it and thank you for the review.

Perfect tranquility

Our stay in the apartment Castano was simply perfect. The apartment was beautifully fitted out, the garden was a delightful place to relax and we very much enjoyed walking in the immediate area which is so peaceful. Waking in a morning to the calls of the Hoopoes is to be in another world. We can truly recommend a holiday in this beautifully restored villa for anybody wanting to relax away from the busy day to day world.
Owner's Response: Thank you for these comments. We love it when guests get the same enjoyment out of the area as we do. We are constantly updating and thinking of new ways to make the accommodation even better!

Our stay at the Villa Castano

Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
We stayed at the villa in September with my eight year old son. The accommodation was spotless and Nigel and Zoe were very welcoming. We arrived in the early evening after a long drive and my son was delighted to be able to jump straight in the pool! We only stayed one night, as we were breaking our journey before flying home the next day, but we wished we could have stayed longer. We spent a very relaxing evening outside, as it was still very warm, and Nigel helped my son pick grapes, which he was very impressed with!

I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment, and we hope to return for a longer visit.
Owner's Response: We look forward to seeing you all again here really soon. Maybe during the season when you can pickeither pomegranates, peaches, almonds, walnuts, oranges or lemons from the trees, your son would be even more impressed with that!

New Year in Las Alpujarras

veetee Altrincham, Cheshire, UK
Review Submitted: March 23, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
My family and I stayed at this wonderful property for the first week in January 2009. I can't recommend it enough. Every detail was perfection - the warm Moorish courtyard with wonderful authentic tiles, large heated outdoor swimming pool surrounded by trees which was inviting even in January and a cosy log fire at night. The orchard was full of oranges and lemons which our hosts made into jams & preserves, cakes & fruit drinks (which were served at breakfast and later with tea and locally made bread). We explored the surrounding area in the daytime, on foot, horseback and on bicycles, and returned home to enjoy comfortable and relaxing evenings where our hosts were on hand to help with planning the next day's activities or just to chat about local characters, folklore and attractions. If you want a holiday in the mountains in a rural location which isn't too far from Granada and less than an hour from the coast, I'd highly recommend this property. VJT
Owner's Response: It was lovely to meet you all and glad you were able to fit so much in during your week here. The pool, though always looks inviting and because the weather can very often be up to 25 degrees during the day, you are forgiven for thinking the pool was heated! The beauty for us about this area is that Granada is only 1 hour away and the beach half an hour, Look forward to seeing you all again next time.

Rosy and Pat. One night too short.

Some how we managed to arrive at about 1pm. If Nigel was thrown by this he didn't show it, and made us feel at home from the start, eg cup of tea, swimming pool made ready. There was even table tennis!
On his recommendation we drove out to Pampaneira in the Alpujarras for an evening meal which was excellent value - a stunning drive and village.
Excellent accomodation with spotless rooms and a beautiful garden. We would love to have stayed longer but a tight schedule prevented this. Highly recommended.
Owner's Response: We hope that you are able to come and stay for longer next time! Thank you for the review, we really do are utmost to ensure that everyone finds what they are looking for when they come and stay.

Villa Castano in Orgiva

Rene & Steve Farnham, Surrey
Review Submitted: October 9, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
Our experiences at Nigel and Zoe's villa is everything we look for in a holiday, with stunning views both inside and out, the cleanliness and comfort of the finest hotel, and the peace and tranquility of a rest home. Its all about quality and this was right up there, with nothing too much trouble for Nigel and Zoe who were able to give us all the local info we needed too. We particularly liked the private swimming pool and also the local, typically Spanish village of Orgiva.
Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments. It is very important to us that everyone enjoys there stay here, that they find the place ready and clean on arrival, so that they can start their holiday the minute they arrive. The peace and tranquillity of the place does the rest!

Didn't want to leave!

Review Submitted: October 6, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
It's always a good sign when you feel you could stay for another week which was how we felt on this, our 3rd visit, to this property. This time we stayed in the villa on the ground floor whereas previously we'd been in the apartment upstairs. We loved the villa because of its direct access to a private garden with loungers, hammock and outdoor terrace. It was very chilled out and a perfect place if you like a quiet break but with plenty to visit if you get bored. The pool and garden alone (not to mention English TV!) are a complete delight. Coming back again!
Owner's Response: I was confident that you would enjoy the villa as much as you have enjoyed the apartment for the last 2 visits, which was why on your third visit I suggested a change. Both places have their advantages and I am so glad that you have experienced them both. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Our stay at the Villa Castano

Based upon recommendation from some friends, we decided to stay at Zóe and Nigel's stylish holiday accommodation during the earlier part of this year (2008). Without a doubt, this was the best holiday accommodation we have stayed at in over 30 years of travelling through Europe. Not only were our rooms spotlessly clean but the decor was a fresh as portrayed in the photographs we had seen on the web site. It was as though our every need had been anticipated, and because we were travelling with my 90 year old father, various extras were added during our stay. At no extra cost to us, Nigel added grab rails and also purchased a small chair for him to sit on in the shower stall. Both Zóe and Nigel worked hard at ensuring that our stay with them was as enjoyable as it could be. Nothing was too much for them and we were treated like royalty! Their local knowledge was extremely useful as well and we were given directions to many interesting places as well as local restaurants and shops. We will certainly return, and have been telling all of our family and friends about this unique holiday experience.
Owner's Response: We are so glad that you all enjoyed your stay here and that you were made to feel special.

It is so important to us that everyone who stays here has a unique holiday experience and goes back home feeling completely refreshed.

Beautiful & Enchanting Spain Beyond The Costas

Baza 11 Millington, Cheshire
Review Submitted: October 6, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The description on the web site with regard to location layout and amenities was spot on in some ways under stated as the whole holiday experience was very enjoyable

The layout of the property and the views it commands encourage you to relax and get into the spanish way - making it difficult to leave

What stood out most was the attention to detail and the excellent quality of the accomodation - 5* -equivalent to a Parador!. The propert was clean and well maintained and the owners very friendly and welcoming.

I have and will recommend Villa Castano only to discerning people who deserve such a treat.
Owner's Response: We agree with you that the views etc make it difficult to leave - this is why we have trouble leaving even for a short time! Everyone who has visited inland Spain for the first time have said what a world away it is from the costas and how peaceful and relaxing they find it. Thank you for the comments made about our place in particular, we do so enjoy it when people appreciate and enjoy the effort we have put in to make a perfect holiday retreat.

Food, Fun and Sun

Review Submitted: April 8, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
This is by far the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. If you’re just looking for a relaxing break in the sun or hoping to enjoy the daily street markets and sample the excellent food - apart from the wonderful local seafood, Granada offers spectacular mountain scenery and romantic towns with castles set in the hillside, yet it is easily accessible by motorway from both Malaga and Granada airports. I recommend this place to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life and/or Golf.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. You seemed to enjoy everything that we love about the area. See you again, no doubt!
