Makarska Apartment Review

Review Submitted: September 29, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Extremely comfortable and well appointed holiday villa, in a lovely town. Aside from four flights of stairs to get to it, the apartment itself was genuinely very nice, well equipped and conveniently located for the town and beach - if you are thinking should i / shouldn't i book it, just go ahead - you won't be disappointed with the place or the area.

Visits to Brela, Brac, and Split/Trogir are well worthwhile, and Croatia is one of the nicest countries i've visited, and i have travelled the world!

August 2009

The apartment was exactly as described and provided an excellent base from which to explore Markaska and surroundings. It truly felt as though we were using somebody's private home, with careful attention to quality and detail that this implies. The owners provided us with a comprehensive info pack prior to arriving, which proved very useful. Their thoughtful and proactive approach to making sure that we enjoyed our stay was a significant highlight. We have, over the years, rented many holiday apartments, but this stands out as being one that we would gladly return to again in the future. In short, we enjoyed our stay and recommend the apartment.

BEAUTIFUL: perfect view from both of the terraces, just bring your clothes and toothbrushes with you because nearly everything is existent at the apartment ;-)

We stayed in this glorious apartment for one week and found it hard to venture out! The apartment is spacious, has fabulous views is very comfortable. It is very close to all amenities- a bakery, restaurants, grocers and the harbour. The central bus station is also just a 10 minute walk. From the harbour we could walk around the coast to quiet places where we could swim. I mustn't forget to mention the wonderful festivals of music in the square most evenings.

Stunning apartment

This was the best accommodation I've ever had on holiday. My family and I arrived from Split rather exhausted, having taken public transport, but as soon as we saw the apartment, our spirits lifted and continued to stay up for the duration of our stay. The top terrace was the first place we went in the mornings, to drink in the unbelievable scenery. Everything you could possibly need had been provided. The beds were super-comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, the kitchen brilliantly equipped. I can't rave enough about this property. It was a stone's throw from the town, which was lively without being overwhelming. But the best thing at the end of the day was to return to that wonderful rooftop terrace and watch the sunset.

Perfect location

We enjoyed our 14 days in this top modern flat in central Makarska.
Perfect place for walking in the mountains or take a walk to Tucepi. Short way to every thing we else needed during the stay. Nice city and kindly people.
And the flat with the view, was fantastic!!

Our first visit to Croatia

The apartment was very well appointed. It had beatiful views over the bay from the sun terrace on which we spent some lovely afternoons and evenings. It was only a 5 minute walk to the sea front. It could have done with a lift as we had 4 floors to climb up. Really enjoyed our stay here and in Croatia. It is the most beautiful country. We will certainly be returning.

My partner and I had the good fortune to stay at this fantastic apartment, which you will find set in peaceful surroundings with the most amazing vista from both the dining area, the balcony and the huge terrace, where we spent many evenings with the local wine, watching the sun descend beyond the horizon.
From the moment we arrived, we had a seamless transfer by cab from Split, straight to the door. The journey from Split by Cab is the best way to get a 'feel' for the Croatian coast line and I would say that you truly feel that your holiday has started well before you reach Makarska. This is the kind of place you should head for if you want tranquility, scenery, a sense of the local culture, great food in local restaurants and a base from which to explore as much or as little as the mood takes you.
We will hopefully return one day, as this apartment offers everthing you hope for and more besides. We were completely seduced by Makarska's beauty, and the beautiful apartment made it truly a gem of a find.

Outstanding view

Well this was one of holiday ( end of August 2008) that everything worked well and above (high) expectations, from the landing in the morning at Split Airport on sunny cloudless day, leaving Makarska for our second part of holiday and returning home 12 days later to Gatwick Airport.

Place: Makarska, a pretty little/medium size town on the see below the mountain Biokovo has been very successfully developed with nice blend of old (old town) and new Mediterranean architecture.

People: The people are very open and friendly.

Food and drinks: Good choice of the restaurants and good selection of food and wine at reasonable prices. It is wise to book a place in the restaurants in advance. If you enjoy eating later in the evening there is possibility that they can run out of the most popular meals. We enjoy having a midday coffee, after the morning swimming, in old town opposite the Marine, were the locals meet after the food shopping for their daily chat.

Beach: Main town beach is overcrowded during the peak season. We preferred the stone beach with plenty of small concrete plains that provide sense of privacy and just 5 minutes walk from the marina on the edges of the town main park. The see water was very clear and pleasantly warm.

Apartment: Very functional with very good ratio of covered and uncovered (the balconies) space for the Mediterranean climate, very tastefully furnished and very clean. Excellent position: the stunning sea view, particularly from the sitting area and the huge balcony overlooking the old town, is big reward for 10 minutes walking and claiming to the top floor (second floor) from to the marina/ beach and old town.

Definitely recommend as place to go.

VISIT TO MAKARSKA

Johnval Weston-Super-Mare
Review Submitted: January 29, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2008
Highly recomended.
Makarska is an ideal venue . Not far from Split and many very pretty small holiday resorts. Dubrovnic is also well within a one day visit and well worth while. The appartment is of a high standardand and very well appointed. It also has a super balcony for barbecues/sunbathing/entertaining etc.The appartment is only 5 mins max to walk to the waterfront/resraunts etc
The only drawback is that there is no lift and you have steps to walk to the top flooor.
