Fantastic place to stay.

We stayed here with another family in October & had a brilliant week. The apartment is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by rolling hills & mountains - stepping onto the balcony on arriving we looked out at snow-capped peaks & could hear nothing but the tinkling of cow bells. The apartment itself is excellent - very comfortable, warm and extremely well equipped. Everything is within walking distance & the village of Lauterbrunnen had everthing we needed during our stay. We would recommend this apartment to anybody wanting a holiday in the Swiss Alps & hope to return ourselves one day.

Beautiful Views & Immaculate Apartment

After spending three weeks in Europe this was such a welcome final destination. I was ready to go home until we came to Lauterbrunnen. The apartment is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The view from the living room/kitchen areas cannot be beat.

I found this area of Switerland to be absolutely stunning and gorgeous and one of the most beautiful places I have visted. We spent 5 days here and I could have spent more time in this region. Most days we took trams/gondolas and hiked. There are many other options for those looking for adventure. We spent one day rappelling through a canyon which was a highlight for us as well.

We needed more time here to relax and enjoy the scenario from the apartment's balcony. This was by far the nicest rental we stayed in while in Europe and I would highly recommend it.

A great apartment in a really beautiful location.

The accommodation is comfortable, spacious, immaculately clean and really well equipped.

The view is breathtaking (just like the photo) and it was hard to tear ourselves away from the breakfast table and onto the slopes!

We will definitely be back.

Wonderful modern apartment

Lovely, large, modern, apartment with immaculate contemporary furnishings.

We are a family of five and stayed at this lovely apartment last week for a skiing holiday in the Jungfrau region.

The pictures do not do the apartment justice - if you like a modern style, it is beautiful. All the furnishings appear to be new.

The three large bedrooms easily accommodated 2 adults and 3 children. Beds were very comfortable. Bed linen appeared new and of very good quality.

The kitchen had all the conveniences you could want - large fridge, lovely modern oven and hob, very quiet dishwasher and quick microwave. All hygienically clean and completely unmarked. Lots of pots and pans, cutlery etc.

Living room area with 2 sofas and large flat screen TV ( European satellite channels ) & DVD player kept the kids entertained when we returned from skiing.

The combined living room, dining area, and kitchen area meant that the whole family could converse / be together whilst enjoying different activities.

Bathrooms were of a very, very good standard (large bath, great powerful shower) and like the rest of the apartment very, very clean.

Regarding location, we arrived by, and exclusively used, public transport. Once we knew the system, this was absolutely no problem.

If you use the Swiss transfer rail ticket, this is also valid for the bus that, on arrival, will take you from Lauterbrunnen railway station to the bus stop outside the apartment.

Once there , we found that the Jungfrau area ski pass we purchased gave us free use of the bus - taking us to either Lauterbrunnen village centre or the Schilthorn cable car at Stechelberg.

Alternatively, we used the Lauterbrunnen free "parking transfer" bus which gives free ( 5 minute ) transfers from the village to the apartment. No issues with ski equipment on these buses - all the passengers seemed to be skiers / boarders.

Without ski equipment, walking took approximately 15 minutes to Lauterbrunnen village centre which was no problem.

We found the apartment in Lauterbrunnen a great location for giving us flexibility to explore all of the ski Jungfrau area - Wengen and Murren are equally accessible.

Coming back to the wonderfully comfortable & really well furnished apartment made the week extra special.

Lastly, thanks to Mark and Sian for making the booking / arrival process so fluent and answering any queries we had so comprehensively.

The apartment is totally recommended.

Just returned from Lauterbrunnen, Mark & Sians' chalet was ideal. Situated a lovely 10 min walk from the town the setting was idyllic with stunning views across the valley. We were a party of 4 but the chalet comfortably accommodated 6. All rooms were tasteful & immaculate throughout with comfy beds and brilliant spotless showers/baths. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in with all the modern appliances you could ask for. The lounge and dining areas were not done justice by the photographs. The owners provided a very useful guide to the chalets operations along with a location map of the site. The location is ideal for visiting Wengen, Murren etc and the higher slopes. All can be reached by rail/lifts and there are many beautiful walks on the doorstep. We hired a car which was no problem on local roads, but we could just as easily have seen the same attractions using feet/rail/lifts. A 12k cross country course begins about 300yards from the chalet and we spent a great day with picnic skiing the route. We ate in Lauterbrunnen on several occasions, the food was quite traditional if a slight basic. The Oberland Hotel meal was very good with excellent service and friendly staff. The Horner pub was a lively and popular bar, but a bit smokey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the chalet and the surrounding areas are a joy for skiers and non-skiers alike. There is no doubt we will be re-booking with Sian and Mark, the chalet far outweighed our expectations as did the area.

A weeks stay in the beautiful Lauterbrunnen.

What's not to like about Lauterbrunnen? The area is absolutely stunning in both Winter and Summer and offers something for everyone whether you're looking for an activity holiday or a peaceful break away from everything.

Myself and my wife have been to the area before staying at the main campsite in the town during the summer. This year we wanted to go back with a few freinds for a skiing holiday and decided to drive from the UK and stay in an apartment close to the town.

We arrived on Saturday morning and only had a little difficulty finding the apartment as the roads were too new to appear on our sat nav. The owners gave us good directions however and the pictures on the website helped us find the right apartment very quickly.

First impressions of the apartment blew us away. It was much bigger than originally expected and boasted fantastic views of the valley from the comfort of the living room. The owners were kind enough to prepare a welcome pack explaining how everything worked within the apartment and also information on the surrounding area which was very useful.

The kitchen was kitted out with everything we could possibly need which surprising included tablets for the dish washer, extra bin bags, washing up liquid and a selection of coking herbs and spices! Things you wouldn't normally expect to find but helped us settle in for the week.

The bedrooms were a very good size and had plenty of storage space for clothing. The living area housed a good size TV with accompanying surround sound system and a selection of DVD's so we never got bored!

We found the apartment to be in a great location being only a 10 minute walk from the village and and only a short bus ride from the train station if you're wanting to travel up to Wengen (or higher for the slopes). The bus stop is a 2 minute walk and from here you can either travel in the direction of Lauterbrunnen or further down the valley to catch a cable car to Murren and the Schilthorn.

The store room downstairs provided an area to keep our wet boots and skis for the week (very useful as we didn't want to track snow and mud across the pristine floors) and the garage provided a covered roof for the car if it does snow during your stay.

To summarise we had a fantastic week in Lauterbrunnen and the apartment helped very much to facilitate that.

Hopefully we'll be back again next year! Thanks Sian and Mark

Spectacular views, clean and comfortable

We just had a wonderful week in Lauterbrunnen with perfect weather. The apartment was clean and well equipped, with great views and plenty of opportunities for hiking and enjoying the glorious autumn colours. We made full use of the trains and cable cars, doing a number of day-long hikes and relaxed in comfort at the end of each day (so nice to have a bath available).

We strolled into the village one night for an enjoyable meal at the Hotel Schützen, but otherwise cooked for
ourselves. The kitchen has a good range of equipment including a microwave and dishwasher, and the owners provide basic supplies of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cooking oil, herbs and spices, salt, pepper, sugar etc. (The bathrooms we also equipped with soap for hand washing and adequate toilet paper, something we haven’t found in other self-catering accommodation.)

The wi-fi internet was a bonus, as were the DVDs and board games in the apartment (the Swiss version of Monopoly is interesting!).

Spectacular mountain scenery and comfortable accommodation: a good combination.

Amazing Views

We very much enjoyed our week’s stay in the Lauterbrunnen apartment. Tastefully furnished in a modern, Ikea-style, and very clean and well-maintained, the apartment is a wonderful place with plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy the spectacular views of the Alps from the living room and deck. Best of all is that the Wander Weg is literally steps from the apartment door, providing miles of hiking in all directions; no car is needed to explore the vicinity of Lauterbrunnen. Don’t miss the railroad journey to Jungfraujoch (The Top of Europe), the gondola ride to First (and outstanding hiking up there), and the Trummelbach Falls (within walking distance of the apartment). It should be noted that the apartment has no available phone, so those travelling from the US should either bring a cell phone with them, or rent or buy a phone in Switzerland, as there is no other way to get assistance should an emergency arise at the apartment. The English-speaking owners were immediately and graciously responsive when we called (from a pay phone) for assistance with a heating problem. The apartment is probably best suited for families and groups; for a couple seeking a quiet retreat, there is too much noise through the very thin walls, and the presence of other tenants and their tv’s is inescapable. If you’re planning on cooking, be sure to stock up at the Migros in Interlaken. The Co-op in Lauterbrunnen has an adequate supply of staples, and there are butcher, dairy, and pastry shops, too. The apartment is not equipped with any basic supplies, although there is a good selection of kitchen items, pots and pans, dishes and glassware.

Swiss Bliss!

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at this fantastic, contemporary apartment in Lauterbrunnen. The unobstructed views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and mountains beyond enjoyed from the comfort of the apartment balcony are simply breathtaking. The apartment is extremely well equipped and furnished to a very high standard and, to my husband's delight, even included a flat screen TV and surround sound system. After searching endlessly on the internet, I could not find an apartment that came close to this in the area to perfectly accommodate our party of 2 couples in luxury. The owners have been incredibly helpful, making our stay so easy and hassle free as well as thoughtfully providing so much information about the apartment and surrounding area. The lovely village and train station are only a short walk along the river and, although we brought a car, we hardly used it due to the excellent swiss network of trains, cablecars etc. The apartment, the location and the local beer were perfect. We'll be back!

Quality accommodation in spectacular surroundings

If you are looking for an appartment in the Berner Oberland you won't find better than this. We found the location ideal for our needs and the views are magnificent. It is quiet but not isolated and within easy reach of the town and station (from where you can get to just about anywhere in Switzerland and back in a day using the excellent public transport system).
The appartment is spotless, tastefully furnished, comfortable and well equipped with plenty of room for six people, suiting either a family or friends. The kitchen is a pleasure to spend time in with plenty of crockery, cutlery and pans big enough to cook meals for a family! For those who walk or ski there is plenty of space for muddy boots, and for those who like to enjoy the view, the balcony provides the perfect spot.
The owners are English so communication is no problem and they service the appartment themselves. They made us very welcome and have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into providing an enjoyable experience for visitors.
We had a great time and hope that we will have the good fortune to be able to go back sometime. We are already recommending it to friends!
