Family Holiday

Review Submitted: October 10, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
A beatiful spacious apartment in a great location. There is a fully equiped kitchen and all the rooms open onto a large terrace which was perfect for dining outdoors. It was even nicer than the photos. The pool was great and there were plenty of sunbeds.

The apartment was clean and well maintained and finished to a high standard. The apartment also has wireless internet connection which we put to good use.

Nathalie was very helpful when we got to the apartment and both Nathalie & Daniel provided excellent customer service.

We would recommend this apartment to both family and friends.

Within 5/10 minutes of the apartment there are plenty of restaurants, shops and a great beach.

We had a great holiday and are planning to book the apartment again soon.

Great Holiday

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Just back from two weeks at Terrazas Del Duque 2 with our two 12 and 14yr olds. The apartment was extremely well equipped and we didn't need to go and buy anything - something that isn't always the case. The actual complex was beautifully maintained and spotless. The location was ideal for the beach, restaurants, shops etc. and although we didn't have use of them the local taxis were plentiful. There was also a very good bus service which you could use to other local resorts. We spent two days at the Siam Water Park and although it was expensive (28euros each) it was a lovely day out. They have created a lovely beach area and some spectacular rides for the kids. There is a free bus from just down the road. FYI the local agents charge the same rate as the door but it saves you queuing when you get there. We had some lovely meals on the sea front but noticed the prices were somewhat higher than we had expected - this seemed to be the case wherever you ate. The local supermarkets however were well stocked and it was easy to buy everything you needed to eat/drink in.
Natalie was very helpful and easily contactable. We had a problem when we were there with the apartment above (a leak) and Natalie responded as you would have hoped.
The only negatives we would like to note are that it is a bit of a steepish walk from the front to the apartment. The third bedroom lacked a bedside light - we mentioned this to Natalie and she is to ask the owners about providing one. We didn't find the double bed (wonderfully big) at all comfortable.
We were there for the very end of the school holidays and as such the kids didn't really meet many others of their age and this is something we would take into account when booking again. The pool was smaller than we realised and the kids did find that a little restrictive i.e. no diving.
The climate however was wonderful and hardly a mosquito in sight (in the past I have suffered particularly badly on other holidays).
In conclusion we had a lovely time, the apartment was first class, the resort offered everything we wanted and we returned home well and truly relaxed and refreshed - just what was needed.

We stayed in this property for 6 nights in early April 2009. The apartment was very spacious and clean. I am a very fussy person but it lived up to my expectations in every way. It is only a 10 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the shops. It is in a lovely position in a quiet area. It was so relaxing. A big thank you to Daniel and Nathalie for making us feel so welcome. We will certainly be back. .

Nice apartment but a few recommendations ...

Review Submitted: April 21, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Firstly I would like to say that we received a very warm and courteous welcome from Natalie and Daniel, and they were extremely helpful when we had problems finding the apartment. The apartment itself was very clean and quite spacious in a very well maintained complex.

It is located in the El Duque "area" but it is a 10 minute walk downhill to the El Duque beach. As a family of four with two teenagers, we found the Fanabe beach to be more relaxed and fun, and this was more like 15 minutes walk away, lovely in the morning but a real uphill slog after a day on the beach and carrying water etc from the supermarket. Also, once you actually reach the gate of the apartment, you have another 4-5 minutes walk and two lift journeys to actually get to the apartment. So, we were a bit disappointed with that. The beautiful view from the balcony can only be seen by standing in the corner of the balcony. If you are seated you can only see the hotel windows across the walkway.

We also were disappointed with the way that the apartment was fitted out. The furniture is fine and the kitchen and utility areas are very well stocked eg, washing powder and dishwasher powder, but we did feel there was a lack of finishings - there was only one bedside lamp in the main bedroom, and no bedside drawers or lamps at all in the third bedroom. We also felt that the quality of the bedding was poor (especially the pillows) and didn't reflect the general standard of the apartment. Only providing two handtowels and four bath towels between four for a week was not enough. Also, there was seldom enough hot water for four showers after a day at the beach, so I'm not sure how 6 people would fare.

However, the utility area was a godsend and we used the washing machine every day!

We did try to use the pool on a couple of occasions but the area was so busy that we couldn't find any sunloungers, apparently this is very unusual and must have been because of Easter. The children did swim but found the level of chlorine too painful for their eyes, even with goggles.

So we tended to stay at Fanabe beach which has good facilities and is relatively clean.

Overall I would say that the complex itself is very upmarket and well maintained, and with a few "tweaks" like lamps and bedding, it would be more pleasing to stay in this particular apartment. I hope this doesn't sound too negative, as we did enjoy our stay, but we are unlikely to return.
Owner's Response: We are pleased that the warm welcome was appreciated, as we make a point at offering a personalized service. All clients have our phone contact, and any matter can be dealt with very easily with one phone call. In this particular case, our guest did not call us during their stay.
Terrazas del Duque 2, complex where the apartment is located, is very spread out, this is true. So there is some walking inside the building according to where the apartment is located. If the apartment is close to the main door, then you have to walk and take a lift to the swimming pool, if the apartment is by the swimming pool, then you have to walk and take a lift to the main door! But the complex is so luxurious and beautiful, with 2 main lifts, wide corridors, tasty decorations, that this is also a pleasure, it depends on your approach.
All the negative details mentioned for the apartment have been immediately corrected, and we thank this owner for their help:
1. As concerns the towels, there are additional ones in the drawers of the bathroom furniture; guests are welcome to use them.
2. We have put the boiler to its maximum position so as to have enough warm water
3. We have improved the beddings (we had bought this shape of pillows for some other clients who specifically asked for that - some guest like thick pillows, others normal size, some long ones, or square ones - it would be nice to know before the arrival)
4. We are adding some more lamps (a trip to the North where you have all the nice shops is planned for next week).
5. We informed the maintenance man about the chlorine problem for the eyes, and this is going to be checked by the specialists. No one else complained according to the maintenance man, however, this is an important issue that we shall follow carefully.
We would like to add that the apartment is located in the best complex of South Tenerife, and that the Duque area is considered as one of the best areas in the whole of Spain. The beach is at about a 10 minutes walk; There are no apartments closer, only hotels, and if a family wishes to be in an apartment rather than a hotel, the complex of Del Duque is the closest one to the Del Duque beach, and the Fanabe beach, and there are many nice shops, restaurants, etc.. in that area.

This was our second trip to this beautiful apartment and will definitely not be our last - we have already booked for November!

The accommodation is spacious, clean & very well maintained with a fully equipped kitchen & good dining/living areas - a complete home from home experience.

The pool is very peaceful with plenty of sunbeds and gets the sun all day - the heated pool is an added bonus.

There is really no need to venture out of the Terrazas del duque but if you do there are plenty of restaurants/shops & bars within walking distance. A short taxi trip will take you to the lovely seafood restaurants at La Caleta.

Daniel & Nathalie are very friendly & make you feel very welcome and we look forward to seeing them again soon.

Would have no hesitation in recommending this to family & friends.

Wow,wow!!

Wow I definitely need to share this and write a little review about it ! We had such a great time in this beautiful flat. Much space, cosy and bright. We first met Daniel, an absolutely pleasant man who took us for a visit of the buildings which are brand new, very large and include a personal lift to every flat. Really impressive how they thought about every little detail, they even made it accessible and comfortable for reduced mobility people !

On our side we were 2 couples with young kids. Privacy and proximity were the key elements to us and the main reason why we decided to choose this property and I’d like to underline that we never had any issue with privacy. All the rooms offered us much space, comfort and we shared the 2 beautiful bathrooms.

As much as the place is really quiet and peaceful there are shops and nice restaurants all over the place and a large shopping center too. Moreover no need to get in the car, we just decided to stay there and enjoy. Let me tell you that this place has much to offer in many ways !

Some nice little details : the way they designed the flat is definitely “chic” and modern. The kitchen and the laundry place provide full equipment. There are 2 heated pools which make swimming very enjoyable, especially in the winter.

I totally recommend this place and I sure intend to book for next year. Thank you Daniel and see you soon !

We stayed here for 1 week beginning March. From the moment Daniel and Nathalie met us they were very welcoming and helpful. The apartment itself was beautiful. Very clean with a superb kitchen very well equipped. The bedrooms were a good size with plenty of storage and the balcony was lovely. there were plenty of seats and a good big table. We had hired a car and having the garage was very handy as it kept the car cool and meant we didn't have to find a parking space in the street. The pool area was lovely and so quiet. It was great having a heated pool also. The local beach is a 10 minute walk down the hill which may not be suitable for elderly people coming back as it's a fair hike uphill. There is a good supermarket 5 minutes walk away and 3 banks beside the apartments. The Duque area is lovely and there are loads of restaurants and a very nice beach. The only downside to the apartment which is not anything that the owner can do anything about was that the hotel across the walkway empties it's bins at 2.00 am!! Woken by bin lorries twice - not good. Apart from that I would highly recommend it.

I have contacted the President of our complex "Terrazas del Duque 2" in order to take the appropriate action with the hotel to eliminate the noice at night.
Hope to see you again soon

Spent the week before Christmas in this lovely apartment and would definately recommend it.
It was decorated and furnished to a very high standard but didn't feel like a holiday home; I could have quite happily moved in permanately! There were four adults and one child and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was really well equipped although I have to admit we only used the fridge and kettle as there's plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep with a wide variety of menus. The pool was lovely and warm and very clean and there's plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Daniel and Dominique were really helpful and even arranged pick up and drop off at the airport which was useful for us as we would have needed two taxis.
We would definately book here again.
