First visit to Nerja

Rob Walker Derby UK
Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This is our first visit to Nerja having been recommended to the area by a friend. We certainly enjoyed our holiday here.
The town which is 10 - 15mins walk from the house is really nice with a good selection of bars and restaurants - we particularly like the Cottage and Pinocchios restaurants. We felt really safe walking around late at night with two kids.
The beach is about 5-10 mins walk down the hill from the house - this was busy but there is plenty of room to sunbathe etc.
The house was in an ideal position in a quiet area and has a Spar supermarket just up the street and a small shop just outside the main gates. It was well equipped and ideal for families.
Whilst there, we visited the Alhambra in Granada which is about 1 hours drive and Gibraltar which is about 2 hours drive away - would recommend both.
Frigliana is a small town about 10 mins drive away - also worth a visit.
I believe that the sign of a good holiday is if you dont wish to come home - none of us did - say no more.
Would definately recommend this house and area to others

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments and trip suggestions for other visitors. I think the review gives a good reflection of a holiday in our house in Nerja.

Returning for 2nd visit soon

returning soon. huddersfield
Review Submitted: June 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
first visited this property last year for a week myself husband and then 2 1/2 year old daughter. found it to be clean, excellently equipped & in a good location for town, supermarkets & beach. he small pool was excellent and most times there was just the three of us in there didn`t use the big pool so cannot comment on that. We only went to burriana beach which has excellent facilities with plenty of toilets (key feature when with small child!)
we used the spar at the top of the road for most things but there is a larger supermarket a bit further away. We visited granada and if wanting to go to the alhambra you must pre book as we didn`t get in although granada itself is a lovely city so the day wasn`t wasted. Also visited torrox for a change of beach but soon returned to burriana.
As the title says we are soon to return to this property for a longer stay this time and I am sure that it will not be our last visit.

Hi, I would just like to thank you for providing us with a great property in which to spend our holiday. The location is first class everything is only a short walk away. Even lounging in the quiet courtyard out side the flat was great, with plenty of sun and shade. The house itself is first class clean tidy and very pleasant. Margaret was very friendly and helpfull. Will definetly come back again to Nerja and would definetly stay with you again Many thanks Ray and Helen

Great location, great accomodation, great holiday

The property was very well-maintained and in a very friendly and leafy area with a comfortable sunny courtyard for relaxing. Great value for money.
The climate in April/May is brilliant, we had perfect sunshine every day, with a nice breeze and around 25?C.

The location is very convenient and fairly central- it takes about 7 minutes walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the centre. We had a car and the flat formed the perfect starting point for longer and shorter trips to places like Malaga, Frigiliana, the Nerja caves and the amazing cable car at Benalmadena.
There is plenty to do, from horse-riding (we recommend the Nerja riding centre), walking, exploring the surrounding towns and villages, to relaxing on the beach and having a nice meal/ drink in one of the many restaurants and bars which are not crowded with rowdy drunks.

Nerja has a really nice feel to it and apart from having our hubcaps stolen on the rental car, the holiday was almost perfect!

Recommended holiday home.

Very comfortable holiday home. - About 5 minutes walk from main beach [downhill] and about 15 minutes walk from centre of town [flat]. Easy to find. - Excellent directions. Great value. One feature of house which our family particularly enjoyed was courtyard which was sunny in morning / early afternoon. We often ate breakfast, lunch, dinner here. - And this was in early April.

Nerja is a wonderful resort. - Beautiful views and beaches, a wide variety of bars and restaurants and a great atmosphere.- And no yobs! Our family loved Nerja. - Kids of 11 and 13. Visit to caves is a must!

We hired a car to get to and from Malaga airport [about one hour], to visit Alhambra at Granada [about one and a half hours], to shop at supermarket, etc. However, centre of Nerja is a maze of [very interesting] streets which are best tackled on foot. If visiting Malaga [Picasso museum highly recommended] would recommend taking bus to save worrying about parking. - About 1 hour 15 minutes - 6/7 euros return.

Nearest golf course is Baviera. - About 20/30 minutes in Malaga direction. - Signposted from coast road just before Torro del Mar. - Very pleasant course in great condition. - 47 euros. However, would not recommend Nerja if main object of holiday is to play golf.

Finally, Nerja is great for hillwalkers. - Booklet in tourist information. - Maps / guidebooks in Smiffs bookshop in centre of Nerja. - But would be too hot in summer. April was ideal.

The description and info on the house and location is accurate and detailed, but I was struck by the beauty of house, gardens and the town as well as the friendliness of the neighbours and locals! The house was clean and everything in very good order, and the house is easy to keep clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend Nerja as a varied and relaxed holiday destination. I would recommend this house to family and friends, and Sally and Ian are very efficient in their organisation, and they are extremely helpful with any enquiries and requests!

We travelled as a family with 2 young children
Excellent property in a great location.
Fully equipted for our stay. Quiet location, yet only a few minutes walk down to Burriana Beach or across into the town centre.
2 swimming pools, we mainly used the smaller one but the larger one is also good.
Shops near by.
Nerja is fantatic with lots of excellent restaurants, also has a real spanish flavour to it unlike some of the costa del sol.
