Angelo, the owner, is a perfect host and the apartment is beautiful, well-equipped and conveniently located for the town centre, shops and restaurants.

We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return to Varandas de Sapadores or to Lisbon!

During our stay, we spent most of the time out of the appartment, so we could not enjoy some of its accessories. The appartment was big enough for 4 people. It was well located in an area far from turists, cars, or big hotel. However, in the surroundings we could find great local restaurants, pastelarias, shops, etc.

lisbon apartment

Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The apartment worked well for us -- two couples -- although the second bedroom was small and had bunkbeds. The rest of the apartment was generous in size, and having an outside space was a bonus. We found it took awhile for us to get our bearings and find where the stores, tram stops etc. were located, despite the many maps the owner Angelo left us. Angelo was extremely friendly and helpful, spoke English fluently, and was very welcoming. Once we found our way around a little, we discovered it was easy to get the tram downtown, get groceries etc. It would be a great apartment for a family, and the large terrace would provide safe outside space for children to play. The apartment is located in a very old part of the city, but the building itself is newer, the apartment was clean and the kitchen had all appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave etc). Make sure to purchase special bus pass that allows one to use all forms of public transit. Such freedom to be able to hop on a tram, bus, or metro easily....and the pass gives discounts or free entrances to many of the sights as well. Walk the little streets of the Alfama, find a Fado restaurant there for a special evening, go to Belem, visit the fabulous Aquarium, go to one of the several great viewpoints over the old city. We found that taking a sightseeing hop on/hop off bus trip was a good way to get a feel for the "lay of the land" and decide on what sights we were interested in seeing.

A quality flat in Lisbon

GDB-France UK/ France
Review Submitted: September 28, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This is a great appartment, well appointed, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished, with everything you need for a home from home stay in Lisbon. There's a well-equippped kitchen opening onto a wide sunny terrace, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, hi-speed wifi, a hifi, air conditioning and a classy wooden floor all through the flat. It's well placed for the shops and trams and buses into the city, yet the area stil retains the essential feel of a real neigbourhood. Angelo the owner is a great help; kind, helpful and accomodating.
This has to be one of the best places around - and it feels like home.
Highly highly recommended.

Modern, well-equipped, great location

We found the apartment to be very well equipped and clean. Everything was to a high standard. The master bedroom is very large and comfortable. The second bedroom has bunk beds, which was fine for our children. We were a little surprised that the second bedroom did not have a door, but simply a hanging screen blind. It was fine, but we did have to be a bit quiet when the kids were in bed.

The location is superb. It is not in the absolute tourist center of Lisbon, but in the neighborhood of Graca. There was a delightful feel, with tiny stores (butchers, bakeries etc) everywhere (a decent supermarket too). We walked to fantastic, inexpensive restaurants every night. When we wanted to go downtown, we simply jumped on Tram 28 and rattled our way down the hill to the busy tourist areas.

We would totally return to this apartment. Highly recommended. The host (Angelo) speaks fluent English and is very helpful too.

Superbly located this apartment provides easy access to all parts of Lisbon using the superb transport system (buy a day card in the Metro station €4.20 for the first day €3.70 daily thereafter). The apartment itself is well equipped, the bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom could be a challenge for some. Overall this was excellent value - we will return!

Excellent choice of vacation rental for everybody!

The apartment was just as nice in real life as in the pictures on the Internet. It has all features you could wish for, including a secure underground parking space. The owner, Angelo, has a very high standard of customer service and was very friendly and helpful to us. The area is charming, and we bought fresh bread every morning to bring back for breakfast. You have all necessary shops and institutions (bank, ATM, gas station, supermarkets, post office etc) within walking distance. We would recommend this rental to anyone wishing to stay in style in a central location in Lisbon.

UN PISO BONITO Y ACOGEDOR

Roser Tarragona, Spain
Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
