La Florina Rocks

Review Submitted: October 29, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We just returned back from 11 wonderful days at La Florina.

The weather was overall very nice compared to cold and windy Denmark, but the best part was the beautiful house we stayed at.

Before we even visited "the unknown" La Florina we felt comfortable with the situation because the customer service had been outstanding. We became even more surprised when we first entered the house and found a welcome packed that just served a purpose after a long journey by car, plain and car again.

The house is cosy and the pictures from the website totally matched reality. When staying in anothers home one thing that matters for us as a family of is that the house and property is clean and both of that totally lived up to the expectation.

On top of that the children were happy to stay at the pool must of the day and when they became bored we were enjoying ourself by playing either badminton or tennis.

The listing description was accurate compared to reality and we were in all ways surprised by the facilities La Florina offered. The kitchen had everything you need, the bedroom and blanket were all nice and clean.

When taking a look at the surroundings we enjoyed the small vilage of Busot happy to be away from where all the tourists are staying. That the vilage only had a baker, small shop etc. was just great because it all was original and no set up for the torits and when the girls wanted to go shopping and visiting the beaches we were less than ½ an hour from that.

We are looking back to one of our greatest holidays as a family and it will not be the last time, we are visiting La Florina.

Just returned from a very relaxing, peaceful fortnight at La Florina - we wished it had been longer! The house and facilities were exactly as described, the place clean and welcoming and the local "support team" very efficient and helpful.

Best bits were the extensive shade available on the verandah, the size of the garden and presence of pomegranate, fig trees etc. - and the pool! (Our 6 year old was hardly ever out of it.) Combined with the welcome breeze you get back towards the mountains, it all made the Spanish summer enjoyable rather than oppressive, as it can sometimes be. We also appreciated the range of books available once we had exhausted our own! Beds were nice and comfy (unlike other places we have hired in the past) and the air conditioning efficient.

The location is excellent (though if you could just arrange to have the mountains moved so that they can be gazed on from the verandah, that would be a definite plus!). Easy accessibility of excellent beaches at El Campello, Playa Muchavista etc. with free parking readily available well within walking distance of the beach - and remarkably uncluttered beaches, complete with a wide variety of local restaurants and bars.

I find I'm talking myself into considering a repeat booking for next year...

Our fantastic holiday at La Florina

Rachel, Ray and family West Yorkshire
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We have just returned from THE best holiday ever. The villa was just as described (even better). It was spotless and there wasnt one thing we could fault. This would be my ideal place to live if we could. The locals were very friendly and the village very close.
The views from La Florina are stunning in every direction. Try to drive inland the views are even better. My husband saw birds that he has only seen in books and was thrilled to bits about this. We went for a walk one evening and birds of prey were just flying in front of us and bat watching was a favourite pastime at dusk, even our 2year old grandaughter enjoyed this. The area is very quiet, apart from a few dogs barking but this didnt bother us.
Not having to bring beach towels was a very big bonus (pity more places dont have the same idea!!)

Finally, I would like to thank Jill and Sam for having to go out of their way to bring a spare set of keys to the house and to everybody who was involved with phone calls etc because of my forgetfullness!!! Once again, thankyou very very much.
Roll on our next visit because we hope to come back before the end of the year to this beautiful Spanish country house that is so well looked after.
Thankyou for letting us share your lovely home.
Owner's Response: What a lovely review; we hope Rachel and Ray come back soon.

La Florina

We have to agree with other reviews of the property after just spending a fabulous week in La Florina. The villa is well equipped and we found everything was just as described by the owner, the location, pool and garden are lovely and the views of the mountains and to the coast are stunning. We headed off to the coast most mornings before it got too hot, then back to the villa for lazy relaxing afternoons and evenings around the pool and patio.
We agree with the comments regarding the need for your own car. The villa is certainly not isolated but having your own transport allows you the independence to be able to enjoy the whole of the surrounding area at your leisure and it is worth exploring a little.
It’s the first time that we have stayed ‘away’ from the coast and it will definitely not be the last. We will definitely recommend the villa to family and friends, and we will ‘be back’

Owner's Response: We are very pleased with Janet and Kevin's review; yes a car is recommended but taxis are easy from the airport and friends can take you to the hypermarket; small shops, restaurants, etc are in the village one kilometre away

La Florina 2008

La Florina , such a nice and quiet Villa.
Been there in September 2008 for the first time.
We didnt really know what to expect, but we loved
the house , the view, the pool.
We received a fully detailed information guide about the house, area, and all things to do and see in close ranged city's. Also there was a very detailed route description included. it was really a kind of master piece of art. With the route description you arent able to lose the direction you have to follow to get to the house.

You need a car for staying here, but you wont regret your stay. Beautiful place to stay, so quiet, and lot of things to do and see around the house.
El Campello is like 10 minutes by car.
Having great diner, shopping, Beach over there.
Even if you want to party in el Campello it is possible.

I definitely go this year again to El Campello.
The combination of quality and price is really briliant.

In my case it was worth every penny..

La Florina

Review Submitted: November 23, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
The property itself was excellent as was the location. The only disappointing thing was the pool was too cold to actually use for more than a few minutes. Mind you, it's a heck of a way to wake up in the morning!

We all had a great time just chilling out and once we had sorted out the directions, everywhere was very easy to get to from the property.

All of the facilities were as described and we even treated ourselves to a barbeque one evening. The black out shutters were so good that we kept oversleeping, but who's complaining?

We loved the area and even went to vist the round the world yacts that had moored in Alicante.

Excellent dining to be had locally, at a reasonable price, especially in El Campello.

I would happily recommend the property to a friend and if it weren't for the fact that we have a rule about never returning to a holiday destination would go back ourselves.

This is not a location you could visit without a car, but if you have a car, everything is within easy reach.

Owner's Response: Andy and Lynn were brave swimming in mid October! But sometimes it is very warm at that time of year. Yes, there are not many useful buses, but it is possible to make arrangements for you to be driven to and from the supermarket etc and there are taxis. Of course, it's better with your own car.

Our holiday at La Florina

Martyn and Maria Woking, Surrey, UK
Review Submitted: September 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
What a great time we had, fantastic. The villa met and exceeded our expectations and was truly Spanish and quaint in its own way. Very clean and as described to us, the laundry was changed halfway through the holiday. Located in an idylic situation, with the vast mountains behind and the views over the valley and into the far distance in front. At night you can see for many miles ... the distant lights so beautiful. We managed to truly relax with the help of the pool just outside the door. All 4 of our kids (16, 14 and two aged 11) enjoyed the pleasure of being able to walk out into the heat and straight into the pool. Great fun had by all. We're going to recommend the villa to family and friends, and will be returning ourselves. A great value for money holiday, staying at a lovely villa within easy reach of local shops, the seaside and main routes to explore further afield. 10/10.

August 2008 stay

Review Submitted: September 4, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had no real problems and the various bits of information sent beforehand were very helpful. We really liked La Florina - the best bits I guess being the location (not too far from the airport, away from but handy for the coast, mountain views, easy to reach some 'real spain', close to Busot etc), the bungalow layout, the privacy/size of the plot, the pool and the established trees/shrubs etc. I think if we had to be critical - and its hard - it would be that the kitchen possibly needs some updating compared to the other rooms which were nice, though it worked fine. Perhaps a microwave would have been useful, though it looks like there was normally one there, perhaps it went on the blink recently? I guess some of the garden areas need some work, but this really didn't bother us and to have some space around the villa was great. Great to be able pick almonds and figs in the grounds!

It was nice to meet Jill - our thanks to her/your arrangements for leaving some thoughtful basics in the kitchen for our arrival and for coming in part way through the week to check/clean the pool etc.

Overall, it was great place to base our holiday and we'd certainly recommend it to others - thanks.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased with Simon's and Caroline's comments and that they had a good time. We don't have a microwave - would you want one?! The garden is really an orchard type; it is tended but we like to leave it a bit rustic - no lawn, of course!

Family Holiday

After excellent communications from the owners before our holiday, we arrived at the villa to find all the basic essentials we needed so we didn't need to rush to the shops! After travelling all day with 2 children this was very welcome. The Villa was cosy and homely and above all safe for our children to play. It also had a rustic charm that 'new' villas just don't have. The small childrens pool is a great idea and perfect for the kids. As a family, we were looking for a nice place to spend time together, a place to chill out and place for the children to be happy and safe. La Florina provided all of this.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased with Melanie's review. As she indicates, we try to give useful information before you travel and we have a small welcome pack for you.
We have only been renting out the villa for holidays in this last year although we've owned it for 20 years.
Kath, a guest from last year with a party of 4 adults and 2 teenagers wrote to us "We had a lovely time in Spain and the central location of the villa meant we were able to visit some excellent places of interest. I am sure we will use the villa again"
