Ultimate Cotswolds experience

Little Peacock House and Woodstock were everything we were hoping for. Blenheim Palace and park are only a few minutes' walk away and Woodstock has enough nice shops and restaurants to keep us interested for two weeks. We spent a few of our days exploring Woodstock and Blenheim at a relaxing pace. From Woodstock, we were able to visit Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Salisbury and Stonehenge, Bath, Windsor, Cardiff (Wales), Stowe Gardens, Warwick, and Hidcote Gardens. We would love to spend more time in Woodstock and there are many more new things to see.

The cottage is very well taken care of by friendly owners. We were unsure of the AGA range when we first arrived, but came to love it. It's warmth was so nice to come home to, it dried our damp shoes, it made cooking more interesting, and it helped dry our clothes when we had our laundry hanging in the kitchen.

The cottage is superb! Woodstock is superb! A very good place to get around in Oxfordshire; Oxford, Stratford, London and much more in just around 2 hours ride with a bus. And Woodstock has Blenheim Castle, which is a fantastic way to spend a day... just in walking distance from the cottage. This is a highly recommended place to spend a week in England's finest surroundings!

Little Peacock House -- A Cozy Stay

Sanibel Traveler Indianapolis, USA
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This rental cottage met our expectations based on advertising. We stayed at Little Peacock House for two weeks while we visited our son at Oxford, toured the nearby villages, and took the train to Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London. We fell in love with the gentle pace of life in Woodstock, and we loved the convenience of the nearby "Hampers" for both breakfast, lunch, and take out. We also enjoyed great dinners at the nearby Kings Arms Inn Restaurant and Vickers.
The owners of Little Peacock House made our communication and down payment easy, and we had no trouble making contact upon our arrival. The condition of the cottage was clean and presentable, and the interior looked exactly as it was pictured.
We were a little inconvenienced by the one bathroom, although there was a separate W.C. and sink. The stove was also a challenge to someone from the U.S., but we didn't plan on cooking any major meals, anyway.
The location of the old stone cottage was fabulous -- right on the sidewalk in the quaint village of Woodstock. We were within easy walking distance of all corners of the village, as well as the lovely public grounds of Blenheim Palace -- Churchill's birthplace. Also, we were just over a block away from the bus stop -- a key stop for the Oxford bus that then connected us with either bus or train service to London or other major stops in the U.K. Oxford itself, home to the ancient university, is full of sights and shopping and dining, and this nearby city is only about 8 miles away.
All in all, we would happily recommend Little Peacock House to any U.K. tourists except those with tiny children or with disabilities. (The cottage is three stories, and a winding, narrow staircase would be prohibitive for the very young or the very old/infirm.) Any visitors who are in normal good health and condition would find the cottage easy to navigate and would surely enjoy its nice condition and easy access to many other U.K. destinations.

Wonderful Cottage

This is a most comfortable cottage, tastefully modernized yet full of history. The living room has very comfortable settees and you have the advantage of watching all that goes on in the high St! The cupboards in the kitchen are all hand made and those who have wanted to cook with an aga have an opportunity to try their hand! The Bathroom is splendid and the beds most comfortable. The cottage is minutes walk from the centre of Woodstock, its shops and pubs as well as Blenheim palace.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay near Oxford, but please don't book it when I want to go again!

Perfect holiday home

Review Submitted: November 11, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and this one rates amongst the very best. It didn't disappoint in any way - in fact, it was even better than its description. It was cosy, comfortable, clean, well-equipped, perfectly located for shops, restaurants, pubs, Blenheim Palace and for visiting the Cotswolds. We had a lovely welcome on arrival too. We would recommend the Woodstock Arms in particular for very good food and friendly staff. We found the food in the Kings Arms and La Cucina alright but unexceptional. Both takeways - The Wok Inn and Jaan's - are also very good. Blenheim Palace provided us with a full day out - well worth the entrance fee. We walked in the park most days and particularly enjoyed walking over to Bladon to see Churchill's grave. We would recommend Little Peacock House and Woodstock unreservedly and hope to visit again some time.

Ideally placed for Oxford

Little Peacock House is a charming holiday cottage with first class facilities, The Aga kept the cottage warm even during the cold weather during our stay in October. Although it is close to the road the cottage is surprisingly quiet, but being close to the road means that it is very convenient for the shops of Woodstock. (Very good deli and butchers) It's location makes it ideal for visiting Oxford which was the main reason for our holiday. There is also Blenheim Palace which is absolute must!!
Woodstock has many pubs, restaurants and takeaways, too many to sample all in one week, but the ones we used were excellent. There is also a regular farmers market, recommend croissants for breakfast!! We would certainly stay here again and would would like to thank Clive and Linda for giving us the opportunity to have a relaxing holiday in such beautiful surroundings.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about this cottage, its location and its owners. We hired the cottage for the dates surrounding our wedding day and enjoyed a relaxing peaceful stay exploring Woodstock and home comforts in this beautiful village. On our wedding day, the friendly owners even dropped a card through the door - the whole stay was extremely special and we would not hesitate to rent this property again, in fact we hope we will in the near future!
